My husky looks forward to going there every day. Big & small dogs play together; wide space and hills.

My dog loves it! Some of the other dog parks have more exposed dirt and mud (getting the dogs dirty).

I cannot confirm or deny if the pond is stocked, but the city does allow it to be fished. You will also find a playground area with a medium sized jungle gym that has a bunch of slides, monkey bars, and a bridge. There is also monkey bars, a sand digger, a balance pole, a traditional and toddler swing. The area is lined with wood chips and can get rather muddy when wet. Under some shade trees you will find a couple of picnic tables and grills. There is free street parking on one side of the park and a private lot on the other. The park is located off of a main road, in between a couple of neighborhoods. The good news for caregivers is though that the playground area is fenced in. It is a well-maintained park and appeared to be a well-kept secret too. There was not anyone else there during my visit. The most popular part of the park by far, is its dog park. It is a membership park that is divided into two separate off-leash sections. This is a nice, low key park that I found enjoyable. It is not a destination park, but still has a lot to offer visitors.

Yes, 5 stars...not because it has great fancy agility training equipment - because it doesn't - but…read morebecause sometimes places get 5 stars due to the demand/need in an area regardless if it has a bunch of whistles and bells. That's exactly what the Barking Lot is, it's a simple little dog park. The beauty of it is that it is downtown where virtually no one has any backyard space, so having somewhere to take your dog to run around is nice. This is especially true when it's 20 degrees out and you want to put your energy towards staying warm and drinking hot cocoa versus walking your dog. That's exactly what happened to me - it was freezing and I took my foster puppy here to do her business and was so thankful that I was able to just let her run around while I mentally channeled a warm sunny place. It hit me then how lucky downtowners are to have a little dog park. Like I said it doesn't have a bunch of features, but it's decent sized and well fenced. I have only been here in the winter so there isn't a lot of grass, but the ground always seems well taken care of and leveled after rain causes puddles and holes. It also is always stocked with poop scoop bags and has a nearby trash can. Usually no one is here (perhaps busier in the spring?), but the few people and dogs I've encountered here have been exceptionally nice. There are also two benches for people to sit while their dogs run around and it is well-lit at night!

A little rough....no shade. Next time I'm downtown I'll just drop be down to the Riverfront....DT…read moreMemphis is not great for dogs.

It is relatively easy to find, as it is located just across from the Crystal Shrine Grotto. This is one of the more extravagant graves that you will find in the cemetery. The grave is marked by a huge bronze foot stone that has photos of Hayes in different stages of his life and his movies engraved in it. It also has the God's Garden poem inscribed and reads: God looked around his garden And he found an empty place He then looked down upon this earth And found your star He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest God's garden is beautiful now He always takes the best. But when you left. THE BIGGEST PART OF ME LEFT. But thanks for leaving a part of us in KOJO The hardest things always was for you to say goodbye. So I won't either. One day we'll be together again. LOVING YOU WAS THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED YOU'LL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART. My Love, Your wife ADJOWA "MARGARET" HAYES The grave looks pretty awesome and is in great shape. Parking here is very easy. There is parking available right in front of where the plot is located. I know what I want my grave to look like now, when it is my time. Anyway, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There are many sights to check out in the cemetery including the Crystal Shrine Grotto.
