Make some time to experience the sauna and take a swim in the pool. The steam room is somewhat disappointing, but the sauna is great. Staff: Totally helpful. Completely customer oriented. We experienced some minor hiccups in our plans. The people at the desk could not have done more to assist us. I needed to print out a PDF. I emailed it to them and when I arrived downstairs it was waiting for me. Breakfast: just great. Dinner: very good, not great. Bar: awesome. Price: very expensive, but you don't get truly amazing for free.

It is literally like stepping back in time. Multiple open fireplaces, traditional music playing (on Sunday evenings), a busy bar and restaurant. All good signs considering we were touring Ireland during the "off season". I mentioned that fact to the front of house manager Marie as she helped clear a table, her retort was a confident and humurous "sure its always like this", and after our multiple experiences, I can see why. I basically had everything on the menu at least once. Some particular favorites were the bacon and cabbage, the chicken curry served with naan, fish and chips (pictured), and the starter wings. I begged to get the recipe, but apparently its a top secret and absolutely delicious. We had those every time we went. My wife adored the Darne of Cromane Salmon. All produce was locally sourced and proudly. Cromane is a nearby fishing peninsula, a lovely drive just five miles away as the crow flies. The salmon was so tender it was as if it was cooked sou vide. Tender, delicious and buttery good. Americans will appreciate the portion sizes, and everyone will enjoy the quality ingredients and expert cooking skills of the head chef. We will definitely be returning to the Olde Glenbeigh. A historical building which predates many surrounding buildings, set in an idealic coastal town on a heavily traveled route on the ring of Kerry. Don't be fooled, this place is a must stop on your journey, and if you have time, spoil yourself, have a couple pints, and stay the night. You won't be disappointed.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with coffee and tea (and with puppy snuggles from Roma!); Mary was also quick to give us a short orientation of where we were located, recommended hikes in the national park and more. She was also incredibly helpful in helping us get reservations for our grandmother's 80th birthday. (Including recommendations on where to get a cake and balloons in town!) The location itself is fantastic - you can walk to a few short hikes - and you're only a short drive from some of the more popular hikes in Killarney National park. Then, you're only five or so minutes from downtown Killarney and a variety of restaurants, pubs, and entertainment. The rooms were clean and large! I don't know what sheets they use, but they were so comfortable and soft. They cleaned the rooms once a day. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! First, there is always a cold buffet - with granola, cereal, various fruits and pastries. The scones and jam were my absolute favorite! Then, there is also a hot menu to order from, which includes a full Irish breakfast, crepes, banana fritters, and more. We were the only people staying, so they didn't have an issue with us monopolizing the sitting room late at night, playing games and enjoying drinks.
