To this he retorted that he would not be able to survive without regular visits to his local Persian supermarket... And so less than a week later I walk by a brand new addition to the Hornsby community. It was pretty small, and some of the items I think I might be able to get at other shops, but admittedly I am no expert on this type of food. That said, when I saw a bottle of sour cherry jam, I had to have it. I love a good sour cherry. Especially if it is in a German strudel... or ... as it would seem... on toast with a bit of peanut butter... :-) I know right... I am all class. :-) In any case, if this is something you are seeking out, and you are in the area, this is going to be one of your only options. They have only been open for 3 weeks so far, so are still filling out their stock base, but it is always great to be able to find different types of foods (at least I think so).

Just be careful when cooking them as often the different varieties have a variety of thicknesses...

I guess ACA isn't all about dodgy tradies and dead beat dads after all. When I told the butcher I was looking to try a few of the sausages, suggestions started coming in from customers as well. I walked out with 5 different types (sang choy bao, Texan, spicy Italian, pork and truffle, and smoky maple). I'm still looking for Australia's best bacon, so I grabbed some of that as well. Overall, really good sausages. Pork truffle and Italian were my favourites. The sang choy bao tasted exactly like a sang choy bao. I'll leave it to you to decide whether that should be a flavour enjoyed in sausage form. A word of warning though: the ACA nutritionist mentioned that sausages aren't an every day food and having more than 2 a day increases your chance of bad things by a milionty percentage points. Or something like that. I was too busy drooling over TCB's sausages to really pay attention at that point.

My recent love is that of the Common Ground Bakery's carob fudge. So enamoured was I that not only did I attempt to be polite and share it with others, we (collectively as a group) dashed back and bought more cause one bite is simply not enough! The gluten-free fare is so sophisticate that for the un-educated you really wouldn't know. Chez Immi (and she is an absolute doll!) has insane quiches, Silvia (Gluten Free Cuisine) not only has an incredible array of breads and cakes but has the much desired pasta and it is absolutely mouth-watering. They say that everything old is new again and that is absolutely the case with the Lavender & Neem stall. Old fashioned moth deterrent by way of lavender bags: cheap as chips and smell heavenly and I tried one of their lavender boiled sweets: now THAT is something that needs to be tasted. A lovely sense of camaraderie is felt at every turn with stallies greeting you like old friends and happy to trade recipes or suggestions for the menu. Get there if you can!

Their free range chicken is definitely worth looking out for. I'm a huge fan of their gourmet chicken sausages, their rissoles and come BBQ season, their delicious array of chicken skewers. They come in flavours like, peri peri, honey soy, teriyaki, and lemon pepper - and they're all absolutely delectable straight of the BBQ, served with a simple green salad on a hot night. Today I made a purchased and was short changed and so kept my hand held out and tried to alert staff. a young girls walks over and says "it was mistake" and gave me a look like it was my fault. Grabbed and correct change out of the till and walked off without a word. Extraordinary! Absolutely no customer care and the anger because I called out the mistake. I've given this outlet more than one second chance so have decided to now shop elsewhere for my bread.

You are also free to ignore it for any other reason. The review is about the nicest server I have ever met. She is kind and fast and funny. She asked a customer if they wanted their bread sliced and when the lady said no she said "Ahh, you want the uncut version". She puts up with rude people and queue jumpers get served last. I have never seen a better retail employee. And she is my daughter.
