It is pretty convenient in that it is just across the road from the beach, and there are facilities here that one can use to change, or wash down. It was good though, just not what I thought it would be. It is however an Access For All playground so there's a ramp for those children in wheel chairs. This is a park designed for toddlers. And don't worry parents, the entire play area is rubber flooring so if they fall, they bounce lol. I really liked that the toilets are close by but wish there was more (or anything!) in the way of shade. There's a BBQ and a sheltered table/chair area just in front of the toilets. There's also plenty of room for running around on some pretty lush grass. I apologise for there being only one photo. Secondly, this was more of a three and a half star playground in my books but I can't rate it as a three, it feels wrong :-) For a small area, they have actually done a good job of adding equipment for a few age groups, the only issue I have is that there aren't steps for the littler ones to climb up to the slide. There's a table/chair area to the right of the playground. I couldn't take a photos as there was a family enjoying some morning tea. Got to love a playground that gets used to it's full capacity. Unfortunately I didn't see a drinking fountain, but I'm sure that there had to be one somewhere. The dog park is great. I have taken Hudson (golden retriever) to the park three times and believe…read morethe facility is great. It has tunnels (for the dogs to run through), poles (for the dogs to weave through) and finally it has jumps. This park is fully enclosed with high fences and a double gate. (to ensure that your dog will not run away). the park has taps with bowls (so the dogs can have a drink of water when needed) and it has poopy bags to keep the park clean. this park is great in dryer weather conditions but in winter it gets muddy as the park is not entirely covered with grass and bark (watch out for muddy puddles). If it is raining there are shelters with benches under neath and a concrete floor. The enclosed park is a 24/7 off leash dog park but the rest of the reserve requires the dogs to be on-leash most of the time. for more info on where dogs can and can't be of-leash I suggest checking the website. if you scroll down on the website you will see where you can and can't have your dog off-leash. It has the standard slides and swings but it also has a seated metal flying fox, a climbing web and goal shooting pole which I haven't seen before. This actually works in quite nicely with the basketball hoop in the same area. It has BBQ and although I didn't see it, I'm sure there would be a drinking fountain somewhere. There weren't any sheltered table/chair areas but there are plenty of table/chair set and the entire area is delightfully spotted with trees so I don't think shade should be too much of an issue. There are paths connecting the basketball area to the playground area and the BBQs and tables sit in the middle. This is actually a really great area. I wish I had a playground like this when I was growing up! This is suitable for a wide range of ages and looks like a WHOLE lot of fun. I entered the playground from Eyre Street. I wouldn't recommend this if you are with little children. It's a bit of a walk and uphill. Entering from Davey Crescent looks like a better idea. There is a drinking fountain which works!! And there are bench seats but no sheltered table/chair areas. This is part of a much bigger reserve/park area and I'm unsure if there are toilets in another section. Oh, to be eight years old again! It's a good little spot for a walk. I've really only been here to stretch my legs after a long drive, and to let the puppy out to have a bit of a play, but I reckon the place would be enhanced by some shade sails, because while this place is really quite nice, it'd be that much nicer to sit and eat a sandwich and not get a seriously sunburnt neck in the middle of summer.

While it isn't the biggest playground, they certainly have designed it with a wide range of age groups in mind. There's a mix of rubber ground and bark chip ground with toilets right in the middle of the skating area and the playground area. I spoke to a local who said the skate park is great (I've been out of the skating scene for too long to know hehehe). There were a couple of broken street lights in the car park but he assured me that the park gets maintained and looked after well, and he was surprised to see the damage himself. Pack your family up, put the bikes in the car and head over here. It would be a lovely Sunday outing. This is definitely one to check out. Minkarra Park is a great place to take the kids on school holidays when you just need to get out of…read morethe house. It has exercise equipment, large skate park, hiking trails, fenced dog park and playground with toilets. Whilst I mainly visited for the playground with friends, I was disappointed that it does not cater for crawlers or children under 2 very well. Some of the equipment was too high/difficult for them to climb and they spent the majority of the time on the rubber ground. There was also no toddler swing, so if your kids like swings as much as mine then it's not the place to go. That being said it s well kept and tidy, but probably suited more to 3/4yo and up.

This is most definitely a 'destination playground'. Thank goodness I found one! This is a place for…read morebirthday parties, work Christmas parties, get-togethers and why-not weekend adventures. It has wonderful play equipment, lots of space, sheltered table and chairs, beautiful trees and lawn, toilets and drink fountains. This is such a pretty and well maintained area with many walks and sections to the park. I have included a map of the park so you can have an idea of the space and fun you can have there. If you're wanting to have a large gathering at this park, I would suggest calling the Onkaparinga City Council (the number is listed in the business info section) to see if there's a booking system or a requirement to being able to request a certain area of the park. Visiting Thalassa would be a 'whole day' adventure to get the most out of the place. It sure looks like great fun and is definitely on my list of 'places to go back to and explore further'. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed at this park.
