We spent one of our 4 nights in town at Hootananny...It's a lively spot with a full restaurant and bar and good whiskey recommendations from the bartender. On this night, it was a jam, as opposed to a frontal performance...these jams you'll find throughout Scotland are really not performances, but musicians who gather together in the front of the venue, sitting in a circle, typically with a group of them with their backs to the audience, who play for each other, for the sheer and obvious love of the collaborative music. They ran through all kinds of traditional Scottish tunes, occasionally with instruments put aside to let a couple of them sing a cappella. It was a beautiful experience to watch "performers" immersing themselves in each other's music, with us, the audience, grateful, if not incidental, receivers of it. They've got a decent whisky selection too, and, as I found throughout Scotland, every bartender seemed knowledgeable in what was offered and willing to have a conversation to help guide you to what you might want to drink that night. (I had a Bunnahabain dram.) If you've got a few nights in town, this is one of the main 3 venues you should check out...the other two we experienced were more direct performances, also good, but to experience a musician's jam circle like this, is truly a wonderful and unique experience to have when in town.

I've been here 3 times... to watch a match in the early 00s... then to visit the stadium as a tourist by myself in 2011 during my tour and with my gf in 2014. She loved it more than I did, because of the perfect crystal blue waters and lush grass. It's a lovely setting right by the water. Personally I look at a stadium for other factors - does it contain the crowd noise, is it overly windy, are the facilities good, is there a long tradition. This stadium only scores 1 of 4 on those counts. Great facilities, but it's new, and it's open to wind and loses crowd noise. I still have to give it a 4 for the fantastic location though, and a little town like Inverness can't ask for much more than this place honestly. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. This stadium is right by the water up in Inverness, it's one of the prettiest settings for a stadium that I've ever seen. Right under the shadow of the Kessock Bridge, next to the Moray Firth. The stadium opened in 2006 and cost 5 mil. Rod Stewart and Elton John have both played concerts here, the former was actually a player for Scotland once in a friendly game. And scored. It's not a very impressive stadium, but it's nice enough and its amazing location earns it a 4.

July & October 2024…read more While we strolling along the River Ness in Inverness, a drenching rainfall came down quickly (it's the Scottish way!). We were very close to the Eden Court Theatre so we took refuge in this large glass building. We were happy to find the restrooms and the cafe. The restrooms are large and very clean. I appreciated the hand dryers as I was able to dry my shirt and hair just a bit. There are lots of toilet stalls so no waiting. The cafe was simply perfect! We enjoyed cappuccino's and soups to warm us up. I had the potato leek soup and my partner had a vegetable soup. Soups were served with a chunk of delicious bread. You place your order at the counter and sit wherever you like. There is abundant seating that includes booths, tables and chairs. You can dine outside on their patio or on the grassy lawn. We loved it so much that we ate sandwiches there the next day. During our return trip in October, Eden Court was on the top of our list to visit again for a quick, affordable bite. We didn't see any of the shows or movies but really appreciated the delightful cafe and clean accommodations.

And this was just what I needed to perk me up. I went to the bar and I went to the cinema here. They pick some good films to watch. It was just what I needed. I am also grateful to the manager of the restaurant whom I asked for recommendations for places to eat as a vegetarian. He recommended The Mustard Seed as the best place in town and the Caribbean restaurant as well, Kool Runnings. The cinema has a really great rake, so you can see the screen from wherever you are sitting with no worries about who will sit in front of you. The seats are really comfy and not too comfy. Good sound too.

It is very easy to access the venue and parking is available nearby. I have been to various events at the IronWorks since it opened. The venue attracts a variety of different bands/singers, some of which are very well known. Tickets are reasonably priced. The size of the venue makes it feel intimate without feeling too crowded. There was only once occasion that I have been to the venue where I felt there were too many people in the main concert hall. There is a good bar with a great selection of drinks and prices are not too bad, which they sometimes can be in music venues. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

It's way up in the middle of nowhere and a very intimidating place for rival fans to come to. There are cool, spooky hills overlooking the stadium and it's absolutely freezing.

We stayed one night in a 2-person wigwam in may 2013. The East Grange team is very nice and…read morewelcoming (particularly in the coffee shop!). We payed £30 for 2 people (bigger wigwams are a bit more expensive). The wigwam was a bit small (you couldn't stay standing) but the mattresses were comfortable and it was well equipped (heat, kettle, fridge, sockets). You can rent a fire pit and buy wood. The common room available to all camping guests was big and well furnished, and we could easily cook our meal and stay there a bit before returning to the wigwam (there are several books and leaflets about things to do in the surroundings). We took tea and dessert in the coffee shop were the waiter was SO nice and funny (but he probably do not work here anymore as he was about to leave to Edimburg for college). The place is warm and cosy, the lime pie was good and there is free wifi. Showers were spacious and clean. This campground is situated between the "distilleries area" (Aberlour, Macallan... 25 miles) and Inverness (32 miles). The sea is very close. It is a good place for a step during a road trip (we stayed here after visiting Macallan distillery and before going to Inverness).
