Some of the Harbour Seals are older than I am and they still have a lot of life in them as they wriggle around their pool and put on a show for onlookers. The Baby Seals are so cute and it's great how they look after orphaned babies by feeding them and strengthening them up before they go back out into the Wild. The Penguins are very comical as they seemed to compete with the Baby Seals for the attention of the crowds. The male Penguin seemed to love having his photo taken as he climbed up the rocks to get as close to me as possible and pose for my camera. The Petting zoo is fun for the kids to feed the goats and they are very tame. One goat took a liking to my son as he let him pet him and then nuzzled his hand when he stopped. October is out of season for the Butterflies but the plants in the hothouse are Gorgeous and the Cacti are magnificent, so still worth a wander through. I really enjoyed the Reptile house although the crocodiles were hiding under the bridge and I even loved watching the Tarantulas (From behind the glass) even though I am a well known arachnophobe. We were lucky that we were there for feeding times. It was great to hear all about all the animals from someone who works with them very closely and obviously loves them so much. There was a little Q&A about the babies and we had the chance to buy merchandise. The Seal Sanctuary is a voluntary organisation and they have to raise all the cash to look after the animals themselves. I bought a Seal keyring for £1 and a notebook for £1.25, It is worth saying that they even take all the photos for the merchandise and literature themselves too. The day ends with a trip round the aquarium and then an ice cream or Hot chocolate in the little outside cafe.

Although its only small they have managed to fit so much in and yet it still doesnt feel like its over crowded. The seals for us have to be the main attraction, Natureland does a lot of work with abandoned baby seals which are so beautiful to watch. You do get the chance to watch the seals being fed but the feeding times do vary so make sure you check them prior to visiting. My children also love feeding the pets in what they call their 'childrens corner' which has goats, turkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs to name just a few. Aside from the Koi Carp these are the only animals that can be fed by the visitors. The Koi Carp actually scared me when we fed them as one literally took the food out of my hand!! They also have penguins, which are also part of the feeding which you will have the oppourtunity to see if you time your visit right. The Tropical House is actually my least favourite part of Natureland though thats probably just because im a big wimp!! It is full of all sorts of different animals from crocodiles to snakes and spiders!! Most are in glass tanks so its not to bad its when you have to walk over the bridge to get out and look down to find you are walking over crocodiles it makes you wonder what would happen if the bridge broke!! The floral place is beautiful though the first time i went there wasnt much in bloom, in here you also have the flamingos, the tropical birds and butterflies flying around. They have a blue lagoon restaurant inside Natureland which is reasonably priced though there isnt anything stopping you from taking your own food in as long as you dont feed it to the animals. There are picnic tables situated around Natureland. The prices are very reasonable, and children under 3 go free.

When I left Gy I was chair of the local museums and the Hallgarth collection of 80,000 local photos and a model ships collection better than Greenwich (with 5 incredibly rare bone ships made by Napoleonic prisoners) went to this museum. Good models, artefacts and recreated rooms give a great experience. You can also board a trawler moored on the quayside to see just what a trawler actually looks like. There are also two good gallery spaces which are free to visit should you not want the museum experience. Always interesting exhibitions on recounting the towns great fishing and dock history. There is also a small cafe selling reasonably priced coffee and small snacks/lunch, as well as an obligatory gift shop. All in all well worth visiting.

It doesn't look much from the outside but it's deceptively large once through the gates and is very well laid out. I honestly can't single out one type of animal because there are so many great ones although the meercats are ace as are the chipmunks. The staff are really friendly and helpful giving good service and taking time to talk to people about the animals if you want to. The prices are quite reasonable too. Well worth a visit if you've got children.

Snipe Dales is about 6 miles outside of Horncastle, right by Hagworthingham, and was the focus for…read moremany of my school trips when I was little. I went back there recently and apart from feeling slightly smaller (as tends to happen when you visit places from your childhood), I found the beauty of the place breathtaking. There are lots of visitors during the summer months, with hardcore 'twitchers' spending days on end snuggled up in their little huts. There's a picnic area, and a car park (although it's 75p to park now), and plenty of walks of differing lengths to suit people of all ages/capabilities. Dog friendly in most of the wooded bits but not in the nature reserve itself. Really beautiful and covered in wildflowers and little brooks and conifers and just general prettiness : )

Rushmoor is a farm park with tea rooms - there are sheep, ducks, goats, horses and hens outside, and inside there are rabbits, owls, chinchillas, guinea pigs and all manner of small, scrabbly animals to keep children entranced. Rushmoor have a fantastic party room, which can be hired for a small fee, and they also provide party food from the tea rooms so it's an excellent venue for a children's party. Although the one we had there was blighted by near-constant rain! It's not really a place to visit when there's rain

My mum has taken my eldest daughter here on several occassions and loves the place (as does my…read moredaughter). It's very close to Louth, so not as far to travel as somewhere like Rand Farm, and its very reasonably priced. There are loads of animals to see and the people who run the farm are extremely friendly. My daughter actually fed the lambs on one of her visits and still talks about it to this day. I suppose its only criticism would be its smallness, but this could be considered a good thing too. It's a shame that more people don't go there to be honest.

Lovely little pier on the Skegness seafront. It used to be much longer, but was thrashed by storms…read moreso often they just gave up. As it is, still a nice place to hang out and unwind in good weather. There's a "casino" attached (as always, open only in the high season), but there's no café on the pier as such, but several pubs are available in the area (about a five minute walk from the pier). In contrast with the cheap amusements nearby, this is a nicely quiet place.

So take it from me if you are looking for great fishing good food and real hospitality this is the only place for you to go. Maggie, Mike and there manager Rob are some of the nicest people we have, or you could ever meet. And for this reason we have travelled from the Scottish Borders to there site seven times in the last tree and a half years, and never not had a great time therefore we must give them five stars out of five we would be shocked if you can find better.
