My husband and I reminisce fondly about a ferry trip to the Aran islands in Ireland. It was rough, and there was a guy who carefully assessed each person and passed out bark bags if you looked a bit green. We dubbed him "Puke Bag Guy". Our ferry out was equally rough with decent waves and a lot of queasy looking folks. The trip back was clear and much faster. The service is remarkably efficient, rather costly but the employees are amazing. The only way to get from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. Luckily, it's so easy to book. And it's such a fair price. The only tricky part is really making sure you have a ride to get you to the ferry and a ride to pick you up once you get off the ferry back in Adelaide. But, overall, it's a seamless, easy, quick 45 minute drive. read more

We booked a ferry ride with car from Cape Jervis to Kangaroo Island. Everything went quite smoothly. We parked our car then headed inside to check in. We did not book a hybrid car but ended up with one. There is a limit on eCars on the ferry. Fortunately, there were not too many already checked in so we made it in. It's apparently a safety thing and all eCars need to be loaded last. Only one person drives the car into the bay so all other riders enter the boat from the passenger entry. You can sit anywhere on the boat so we found a chair in the front of the boat to view our approach to KI. The lounge has drinks and basic snacks for sale. The staff was super nice. We chatted with them at several times about anything and everything. The ride is about 45 minutes. It was a little rocky on the. It but not too bad. Great experience. read more

I was so excited to take my mum who was visiting from Scotland, to see Kangeroo island. We left our house with what we thought was plenty of time.. but due to roadworks. We ended up missing our ferry by 2 minutes.. I was devasted. We got to the desk and explained what had happene, the staff were extremely helpful, a woman who works there called Lisa, managed to use the money we paid for our tour and get us and the car on the next ferry.
