She said it would take two weeks so I got it right on time. Im just getting to the point in my life where I have friends who are getting married so it's safe to say I haven't been to many weddings. This was the first time I was in a wedding where I had to get alterations so I was so nervous and lost as to where to begin on finding a seamstress. My first instinct is ALWAYS to check Yelp, and seeing that Seams and Sew on has the best ratings, I gave Mansureh a call. She works out of her home which may sound a bit weird at first but it was so much more personal and comfortable than I imagined it would be. She pinned my dress and let me know it would be ready within A WEEK within 20 minutes. I ended up staying for about 45 minutes just talking and hearing stories about work Mansureh has done throughout her life. She is absolutely perfect at her craft and really is such a gem we are lucky to have in Albuquerque. Keep in mind, she only does bridal dresses. Mansureh is amazing. A little brusque at times, but she is extremely talented and does a wonderful job! Honestly, her talent is wasted in Albuquerque - she belongs in Paris, London or New York (which is where I believe she started out)! I bought my dress for $35 from Goodwill, and it had potential, but for that price it was obviously old and falling apart. An entire panel in the front was stained yellow from age, and the skirt lining was so old she threw it out and sewed in entirely new lining, among many other little repairs and alterations. In the words of Mansureh, the dress was "rags" when I brought it to her; but she managed to turn it into a beautiful gown! She did it all FAST (10 days) and for a very generous rate. I was shocked because I didn't think it was particularly noteworthy, but my dress was the thing everyone wanted to talk to me about on my wedding day! And I mean absolutely everyone; I got compliments all night. That certainly would not have happened had I not taken the dress to Mansureh! Tips: bring the shoes you will wear with your dress so she knows how to hem it. Also, don't ask about price ahead of time. Had to have a dress hemmed and taken out a little because i was much skinnier when I bought it... she did a great job, no hint that it was altered and worked on it quickly. I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon Seams and Sew On. Mansureh just did extensive work on my wedding gown and I am extremely impressed. Her studio in her house is very well put together, professional, and comfortable. Mansureh has years of experience with alterations and tailoring, and her work shows. She took in my wedding gown in all the right places, added padding where needed (ha!), re-did the zipper so that it would fall right and just made it fit just perfect. I would trust her with any piece of clothing and especially one of the most important gowns I will ever wear! She got me right in the morning that I called her and had my gown done in 1 week. Even though her work is extensive and I received quotes from other tailorers, her price was very very reasonable for the work that she did. (I paid $150 for all of the alterations total-amazing considering I received quotes into the $400s). I absolutely love my gown now and there is NOTHING I would want different. This is by far the best seamstress experience I have had in Albuquerque! I was in a terrible situation with a bridesmaid dress that was POORLY made, but alas there was a delay in shipping from the manufacturer - arrived 3 weeks before the wedding that I had to attend in Chicago!! I had no time to reorder and was rushing around ABQ trying to find someone to fix this dress. I went to a couple of different alteration shops around town and everyone was telling me that it was impossible to fix because the bust area needed to be fixed (it was too small) - and there was no way that more fabric could be added, no to mention the manufacturer didn't leave any fabric on the inseams for it to be let out at all! My heart was slowly sinking as the days passed and now it was only 1-week until I left for the wedding in Chicago! I decided to look on Yelp and read the reviews to see if there was anyone that I could find that might be able to help me. I was in luck because I found Mansureh!! I called and stopped by her location on a Wednesday to show her the dress (keep in mind I was leaving on a plane to Chicago the following Thursday!) and I told her my story. Mansureh was very polite and very professional. She took a look at it and told me that she could fix it and said it wouldn't be a problem to get it done by Tuesday of the following week! She said all she needed to do was put a panel in the bust area and since there was an overlay of chiffon it wouldn't show (check out the Dessy 2858 online - this is the dress). I also needed to have the dress hemmed and she said she would be able to do that without a problem. I felt so much better and I left her place feeling confident that she would do a good job. I thought for sure I was going to pay an arm and leg but no! She was reasonably priced which made the situation so much better for me. I return to her place the following week to pick up the dress, tried it on and it was PERFECT!! I thought for sure I would be able to tell that it was altered and wouldn't fit right, but NO!! It fit wonderfully!! I was able to attend the wedding in Chicago without worrying about my dress - also no one could tell at all!! I was so lucky to find Mansureh and I will definitely go back for general alterations and alterations for special occasions!! read more
