Scam- I hired them in 2011 - paid them 800.00 to find adoptive parents. Zero follow up-zero concern. I got frustrated and wrote a bad review on Facebook and got a call and apology and they assigned me a new contact. She reached out a couple of times-told me how hard it was in Texas and then I never heard back. If I hire you and pay you that much money you need to be reaching out to me and actually doing your job. I have since done my DNA and gotten my questions answered on my own. But they essentially took 800.00 from me and never did a thing. read more

No stars given. I'm sad to say, my experience was similar to all of the negative reviews here. I hired them many years ago, paid the fee for a year long search for my birth father and they really only got back to me after I sent many emails and voicemails. Very, very unprofessional. This is upsetting to know that people feeling desperate while searching for loved ones may be taken advantage of. After that horrible experience and feeling down, not knowing what to do next I decided to start searching on my own. I gave this company over $1300 a few years ago and they did nothing except a google search, and then call me with the very same info I gave them. My birth mother gave me more information than they did about my "birth father." I found more information than they did myself with an ancestry.com test, Facebook search, and a white pages.com search. I contacted SearchQuest America in October of 2014. They assured me that they would do their best to help me find my birth mother and family. The contract I signed indicated they "will assist the client by providing guidance and research expertise to aid the client in identifying and/or locating information on lost or unknown relative(s) or other individuals. . . . SQA commits themselves to helping secure additional information or by helping the client secure information in a competent manner." Nothing could be further from the truth! I was assigned a woman who initially found my birth name via my birth certificate number, but I later learned that anyone who pays a fee can gain access to these records and it's actually quite easy in the state where I was born. After being given this information, I was thrilled and thought that she would be able to continue getting me information. I could not have been more wrong. First of all, I had to constantly email her to get any update on what she was doing. Five times I emailed her over the 4 months she was working on this and I just gave up after that. She wouldn't return my phone calls and after contacting the office to ask for information, she called and was very defensive, saying she was 'working hard" on my case, but could not give me one piece of information or action she was taking in her search. I gave her a lot of information about what I knew regarding my background. Each contact I had with her was instigated by me. I haven't heard anything from anyone at this agency since February 2015. My contract with them expired at the end of April and I still have not heard a thing. In the meantime, I contacted a volunteer search angel (google them) and after 1 week, she was able to locate my birth mother! Presto! It wasn't that difficult after all. SearchQuest America missed major clues and had little concern or care for my case. Very disappointing and emotionally draining. If you hire them, be sure to ask for weekly updates and if they don't give them to you, ask for you money back right away! read more

Fraud!!!! Beware!!! Save your money and time. Don't keep your hopes up on finding anyone using their services. After giving them my money I didn't hear from them. I called several times and the only response I got was that they were close to finding my biological father. They used Facebook which I could've done myself. I don't believe they do any field work or work with other agencies. If they did I believe they would've delivered what they said they could with the information I provided to them. read more

In 1967, my fiance told me of her missing brother. He was born in 1956 and at the age of 4 he went with a man that was a "friend" of the family but never to return home. In the early 1970's family reunions of lost relatives became popular on several TV talk shows. We began contacting some of these shows in hopes of locating her brother. This went on until December of 2012 to no avail. It was then that Troy Dunn appeared on a segment of Dr. Phil. We decided to try the search again. We were referred to Search Quest America, an organization in Cape Coral Florida that specializes in the location of lost family and friends. Our contact person was Susan Friel-Williams, the CEO of SQA. We began by sending requested documents to her via faxes and verbal communications after her review of the documents so she had a larger scope of the background to complete the task. Within 2 weeks SQA informed us that they had a potential match in the search. TWO WEEKS! We were put in touch with an intermediate contact (who turned out to be our nephew) due to the fact her brother had also been searching for a family that he felt he had other than the family he had been raised by. He had found out he was "adopted" after his father passed away several years ago. He did not want to have high hopes of a connection unless the probability was almost certain. There were spelling changes made to the family's last name along with his birth date changed by 6 months. During the course of the next few days, our nephew and we emailed photos back and forth and it proved out that we had found the brother we searched for over 40 years without success. BUYER BEWARE!!! I had to write this review in order to vent my frustration and disappointment regarding the search for my natural father. Although I was understanding that no information was found to lead me to his side of the family, the feedback on the person who handled my case, Susan, is 'radio silent.' I only heard from her when I reached out over the course of a year. I asked her to log into my Ancestry.com account so that she could see all of the people who I am connected to that may be related to me on my paternal side. Provided all of my login information. Since my mother took the test before me, I was able to go through the 'cousins' list to see who we both had in mutual relation to. The others, I was told, are most likely on my dad's side. I sent this request and never received a reply. Prior to the final email sent, she stated that she tried different people but was unable to connect the dots with the correct 'Sam Gomez.' She was very defensive in the email, continuing to say that she was working hard on my case. That is when I responded with the question about my DNA results and connections. Again, radio silence at its best (worst). I definitely understand that no one can make something materialize if it is not there or hidden well, but the lack of response is what has me so frustrated and disappointed. The person responsible for connecting with and selling unwitting people like me who butter you up with all of the high promises and hopes made sure she pursued me wholeheartedly, like clockwork, according to when I would tell her I might have the funds. I took $900 of my VERY hard-earned money, a sacrifice really, to locate anyone on my dad's side, and I walked away with a sour taste in my mouth due to the lack of attention I feel my case received. My husband is a Korean adoptee whose birth father was American. We searched on our own and with Search Angels trying to figure out who his father was with only a possible last name for fifteen years. In 2014, I bought my husband a 23andme DNA test for Christmas, and he got a second cousin match. The match responded to our message and said he would ask his grandparents about how he might be related to my husband, but he never got back to us. I spent many hours trying to figure out how the second cousin might be related to my husband, but genealogical research using DNA is complicated and we weren't even sure that we were researching the correct person - never mind which branches of the second cousin's family to research. We hired Susan at Search Quest, and not even three weeks later, Susan and Angela gave my husband the most amazing news. Not only had they figured out who my husband's father was - they had located him and had a current phone number. My husband agreed with Susan's suggestion that she contact his father first, and shortly after she called back to let us know that not only was his father overjoyed to hear the news - he had searched for my husband for years as well. Susan's expertise at searching is very impressive, but just as important is her expertise at handling the first contact, helping reunions to get off to a successful beginning. I highly recommend Search Quest America for anyone who is trying to search, but especially for adoptees. Susan is honest and professional, and she does not make false promises. The fees are very reasonable and the company is skilled at both traditional and DNA genealogy. The worse service in every way!!! On 1/3/2012, I signed the agreement over four years ago. Unfortunately, your company failed to find my birth mother. After several years, Sept 2015 - I hired another investigator who found my birth mother in less that 48 hours. Search America failed to discover my birth mother due to neglect. My mother was easily located and we have a relationship. Unfortunately, Search America wasted valuable time, my mom is currently 76 years old and in rapidly failing health. Had I met her sooner, it would have allowed more time for our bond. I am requested a full refund for services $1500. I had to pay an additional $2200 for the investigator to perform the same service. Of course they refused. Even though new investigator did need any of their leads. The fact is - Search Quest was negligent - they had the information but failed to properly follow the leads for over 4 years. In addition, they failed their fiduciary responsibility by not choosing another investigator after repeated dead ends and failures. Their only advice at the end of this - get a genetic test. That's like searching for a needle in a haystack. Bad service. Nor do they take any accountability for their actions. I want to be sure others know so they are not victimized or scammed. read more

Search Quest took over the search for my birth mother from another search company that folded in the middle of active cases. After having to go through ALL of the information again with this new company, I have had very little contact. At this point I cannot get anyone to return my emails. I have asked my agent several times about specific information and I am rudely ignored.This company seems to have very little compassion for their clients.
