The staff were friendly, and whilst it was quite quiet the night we went (not that surprising as it was a weekday) there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. They have a restaurant section, and having checked their website since my visit and seen the menu I think I'd definitely give the food a try.

The inn feels like an old ocean liner from the early 1900s without the opulence found later. Some of the rooms are named after former ocean liners, and thus named the White Star now for England's most famous line, owners of the Titanic and many others, now called Cunard. We had a delightful dinner. It has a pub atmosphere but a bit more upscale as a restaurant or tavern. To celebrate we got a bottle of the sparkling wine from Kent. It was quite good and went well with the meal I ordered a pheasant croquette on a bed of peas and Brussels sprouts. It was excellent My main was the chicken dish which was very well prepared and delicious. The sauce was good and the preparation better than expected for this type of establishment. The portions are substantial and I was quite full and unable to have a dessert. The waitstaff are cordial and really hustle when the crowd appears.
