It is so inexpensive and a great place for all ages. Even as an adult, I enjoy and learn from the museum. They continually have relevant events and special weeks/days throughout the year with themed celebrations and activities. As soon as you child is mobile, this would be a fun museum to visit regularly. We go once a week and spend an hour or two in one of the many themed rooms/areas and I don't see my child ever tiring of visiting here. There is an outdoor playground, outside "kids street" mini town, and inside there is a dedicated area for younger children, and themed areas including STEM, outer space, grocery, crafts, and many more. Now keep in mind that membership is CHEAP so don't expect the latest and greatest toys, activities, and technology. Cleanliness isn't stellar but I have never had any issues here with staff, hygiene, or my child being bored. I would highly recommend a membership here over the aquarium! So much more to do for all ages and a great rainy day activity.

My older sister has several pieces from here, as does my brother and I have been wanting to come look. I am so glad I finally made it and regret not having come sooner, but I will not make that mistake again. Set off on basically a one laned gravel road, you will pass several homes, I think this land is owned by the family, and these are all family members. I arrived on a Sunday right before they opened for the day. Their inventory seemed small, which was confirmed by the lady working, she stated that they seemed to be low on inventory. I was able to find something that I wanted quickly. Again, I am so very glad I came. I will be back!

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is renowned for its art pottery, being the home of George E. Ohr, "the…read moreMad Potter of Biloxi." Today, the most well-known art pottery comes from Shearwater Pottery in Ocean Springs, across Biloxi Bay from Biloxi. Founded by the family of local artist Walter Anderson, they continue to produce both decorative and utilitarian pieces, including what appear to replicas of designs created by Walter Anderson himself. The glazes are mostly soft earth tones and cool hues of celadon, jade, and periwinkle. Shapes tend to be simple, toeing a fine line between rusticity and modernity. Sadly, the details on many of the mass-produced figurines (the curled fish, the woodpecker-handled mug, the doves) are virtually non-existent now, likely from overuse of molds that have been worn smooth. I'm not exactly sure why Shearwater continues to produce the figurines of workers with jet black skin, bright red lips, and white eyes and teeth (these stereotypical representations would usually be referred to with a term beginning with the letter "J"), often carrying sacks of cotton or dressed as a mammy. I'm far from politically incorrect, but even I was taken aback by these ― especially in the overwhelming quantity stocked here. I'm sure there is some significant history to these figurines, but still, perhaps Shearwater might consider discontinuing this line. The items are not cheap: A coffee mug will cost $20-$22. Small vases are $48-$60. A hand-painted replica vase in a Walter Anderson design? That will be $700. There are a few unique pieces tucked in here and there that one really must keep an eye out for, like the two-tone horse figurine decorated in an Ancient Greek-inspired motif for less than $30. Perhaps most importantly, Shearwater Pottery's showroom is still pretty much the only place to buy their product: They're entirely Luddite, writing up receipts with pen and paper. Don't expect to make purchases via internet from Shearwater; the showroom is pretty much the only way to get their products. Whether or not Shearwater Pottery's product is worth the price is entirely subjective: I have seen some art pottery in the Biloxi area for comparatively "better" prices, and some for what I would consider much more ridiculous prices, too. (My parents thought the $50 I spent on an eight-inch decorative owl I gave them was pretty insane.) As far as the yankees and West Coasters go, Shearwater Pottery does have a combination of time-worn pedigree, artistic connection, and relative obscurity that should give their wares proper snob appeal. If one can overlook the profusion of racially insensitive ceramics, it's worth considering a visit to Shearwater Pottery on any visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

My understanding, they recently started doing this 7-10 years ago. Apparently it gets better and better each year. I found out it was featured on a hallmark movie Christmas in Mississippi for reference. But apparently they have been to this amazing event for a while now. Especially since they remodeled the park. And the icing on the cake. The new attraction of the new aquarium. Located in the heart of downtown Gulfport, in Jones Park on the corner of Highway 90 and Highway 49 at Gulfport harbor. They do not have any parking spaces next to the event. However, they do offer close proximity parking to either walk over from the west side of the marina. East parking in the aquarium garage. They offer free parking and shuttle/buses (provided by your local CTA for both ends. It's a free service but welcome a little Christmas gift if you desire. I recommend parking at the garage since it is well lit and easy to walk if you desire since they built the new overpass from the aquarium to the park. The west end has plenty of parking but not as well lit but closer to the event. In my opinion. Speaking of the bus service, they have plenty of them and service is great and quick. Do not be discouraged if you are waiting for a while for them. Cause you will not. A few minutes tops. That was my experience. I noticed that if you have person that requires extra attention. You can drop them off at the front of the park. And they will gladly assist you. Also guide you to find the best place to park. They encourage you to have the best experience possible. Admittance fee can vary on what day you go. They do accept cards. No discount at the booth that I am aware of. They have a train service that will take you around the park and enjoy the park lights. If you do not want to walk around the whole time. Please reach out to the ticket office for details. They also off few rides in the park (carnival) and delicious food (fair type) hot chocolate, and hot coffee ( or cold/frozen too) . They have plenty of the upscale portable restrooms on site for your convenience. Definitely recommend check it out if you are on the coast. Nice little trip to the coast and especially exploring what other great restaurants and attractions the hosts. Especially plan accordingly to go in the early evening to get the full experience of Christmas lights and weather permitting. Per this article, remember to dress appropriately, it can get kind of chilly in the evening since the temperature drops and of you get breeze. Fun for all ages and great group or family event. In my opinion. The staff is amazing and willing to help you out with your stay. World class experience! Service with a smile!

I was in town from Los Angeles to visit my Dad over Memorial Day weekend, so I bought tickets for…read moreus to go to a Biloxi Oyster Shuckers minor league baseball game, since sports is one of the few things we have in common LOL. I've been to a bunch of different MLB stadiums/games and even one college baseball park, but never minor league, so I was excited to go to this. And we had such a wonderful time! LAYOUT I highly recommend buying your tickets ahead of time or getting to the park early. We arrived just before first pitch, and there was a long line to buy tickets. Since we bought ahead, we basically got in right away, just went straight to the ticket scanners with no wait. Since it was a 1pm game, I'd made sure to buy seats in the last row on the 1st base side, because that's where the shade hits first. Sure enough the shade reached our seats around 2:30pm. All the seats there have great views and easy access to restrooms and food/drink. The stadium's entire concourse is lined with a great variety of food and drink vendors, and since it's a smaller stadium, only once or twice a few lines got maybe 8 customers deep, but even so you still have a great view of the game while you're in line! And I never waited for a restroom. PEOPLE There were tons of people working the vendors as well as ushers helping people find their seats and such. The ushers were wearing orange shirts, so they were easy to find, and they were all smiles and very friendly. And all the fans in the stands were also really friendly and having a good time. Lots of groups of friends, younger and old, and some families too. We also happened to go for a dog-friendly game, with people sitting out in the right field lawn with their dogs, and they all seemed to be having a great time. They'd occasionally walk to the concourse for food/drink/restrooms, some just to take a break in the shade, and all the dogs were so nice and cute and seemed to be enjoying themselves :) MASCOTS I debated docking a star from this review for this (just kidding) but I was disappointed the mascot was not an oyster, or even a shucker, since they are the Biloxi Oyster Shuckers. Instead it is a seagull, and there are definitely a lot of seagulls in the area, but I feel like this is a missed opportunity, since there are already so many other bird mascots in sports. Maybe the seagull can have an oyster friend? Anyway, the seagull mascot named Schooner was at the game of course and was quite present throughout, and he/she also seemed very available going through the stands and around the concourse for anyone who wanted to interact or take a photo. I always love an accessible mascot (why are they so rare?), so this was nice to see! Also, there was a race on the field at one point between 3 people, dressed up as a potato, corn, and crawfish - These mascots didn't hang around too much after their race but enough that they took photos with some people before eventually heading out. PARKING I wish they had a good official parking garage, but at least there are a couple small local lots, plus the Beau Rivage across the street. Still, my father cannot get around very easily, so I dropped him off at the stadium while I went to go park the car, and then after the game, I ran to get the car and drove it up to him at the stadium. So if you are going with a wheelchair or someone who is otherwise not very mobile, you may want to plan for this. The stadium has an elevator in its northwest corner (behind home plate) that we used, and the staff there were very nice and helpful. While the team lost the game, we still had a really enjoyable time, and I'm really glad we went. It's definitely something fun to do, and I'd go to games all the time if I lived in the area. And it's SO much more affordable than going to an MLB game, from price of entry to concessions. I highly recommend going to a game here!

I've been coming to Biloxi for years and somehow have never been in town at the same time as the…read moreShuckers, until today. It's a small park, and not a bad seat in the park. I brought my 6 year old niece and we had home plate box seats in Sec. 102, Row 4. The net now goes all the way down baseline into outfield, so Ticketmaster seating chart is inaccurate. Had I known that, I would've bought the cheapest seat towards the outfield. Tickets for my game, June 2026, seemed to run $11-30. It's easy to enter and exit the park. There's a small pro shop and plenty of food and drink vendors but prices are high, on level with what you'd pay at a MLB game. $5 water, $10 hotdog, ball caps were $30-50, etc. Their website seems to offer a lot of game night promos, it was 2 for 1 night when we went but finding out what was on special was difficult when I did finally get answers after asking 3 staffers, it really wasn't a 2 for 1, more like combo deals. Our game ended up being suspended due to weather but they offered the opportunity to return for free to a future game this season. In the end, the experience was OK. In the future I'd come back but I'd buy the cheapest ticket and eat beforehand.
