There seem to be a couple negative reviews on here for "Seaside Landscaping" and I wonder if people are getting confused. This review, however is for "Seaside Landscape, inc" who installed our backyard and built a fence when we bought our new home. (The builder of the house had already installed the front lawn and landscaping before it was listed for sale). This company is horrible. They have no idea how to prune. They kill trees, they are careless about the plants.

Called Seaside Landscaping for an estimate on installing an irrigation system, and was given an appointment time for the following week. The day/time of the appointment they didn't show. A call, an email, and two hours later we were notified that there was a "calendar mix-up" and that "Chad" would stop by later that day. This review is not based on the quality of their work - as we weren't able to reach that point with them. This is based on just the consultation. We called Seaside Landscaping to give us a quote on some work we needed done in our backyard. The owner came out to our house and met with my husband. He spent maybe 5 minutes total at our house, didn't take any measurements, and basically answered every question with "Oh, that'll be expensive..". We didn't state a budget, so how about let us figure out what's expensive and what isn't. So, he left, took my husbands email address and said he'd have a quote to us within a few days. It's been 3 weeks, not a peep. So no thanks, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I wish I could include pictures of what $11,300 will get you from Seaside Landscaping because basically after 6 weeks of very intermittent work all I got was a muddy pit of a front yard with stepping stones and some gravel. I waited 5 years to get my house landscaped. We contracted for removing some concrete, remove a tiny tree, adding a layer of top soil, grading the area, laying some stepping stones to the front door, and laying grass seed. Six weeks later the job isn't done and our yard is a muddy pit with stepping stones. I can't tell you how sad I am that I didn't do more research before making a decision because I am beyond disappointed by the job done by Seaside Landscaping. While there are just so many things to say about how rinky-dink this operation was here are the highlights: 1. They were here a total of 3 workdays over the course of 6 weeks. Notice I did not say they completed the job - because they didn't. 2. Mailed a deposit check on September 30th that was cashed immediately and yet they didn't arrive for 3 more weeks. Communication was awful and I had to call repeatedly to find out if they were coming at all. Some days they said they'd be there and wouldn't show. When they finally got the job started, they dug up my front yard to remove some concrete and then didn't return for a week, meanwhile they left a nice pile of concrete and a mud bath in my front yard. 3. We paid $5000 upfront for the work and after only a day or so of work we asked to have a couple of things added to the contract, one being to have a tree removed. We had to pay immediately for the change ($150), the check was immediately cashed, yet the tree wasn't removed for another two weeks. The other change was that we decided to use manufactured stepping stones instead of keeping some of the concrete for our path. I was verbally quoted approximately $600.00 to buy the stones. When I was asked which stones I liked, I sent a picture and then receive a quote or $2100 to install the stones. There was no discussion just the invoice. When I called to ask why the high price, Chad told me the stones I picked were more expensive and would be more expense to lay. Really? He didn't think to pick up the phone and talk to me about my options? And, of course, once I decided to go with the less expensive stones, I had to pay immediately with the promise that they'd be laid the NEXT DAY. Well, guess what? It took him another WEEK to return to my house with the stones yet he cashed the check right away. 6. The final straw... They finally got the tree gone, the concrete removed, the top soil laid, the stones laid and wanted to drop grass seed onto the yard that they did a poor job of grading which was riddled with mud puddles. The soil was so soft and muddy that Chad said they couldn't roll it to pack it down for the seed but, not to worry, they would just drop the seed anyway...it would be fine and then could we please pay him asap? I asked him about the mud/soil puddles and he said the grass would grow just fine. I told him I did not see how I was going to end up with a nice looking lawn if we laid seed in wet, lumpy dirt He seemed annoyed and said that while he did not think it was necessary, he could come back after the yard had some time to dry and then lay the grass seed. Four days later, the ground still had puddles and we had a frost. Chad still had plans to plant the grass seed and be done with the job so he could collect his payment. When I pushed back, his assistant told me I shouldn't "drag my feet" paying them for the work. Really? This from the company that took 6 weeks to finish 3 days worth of work and the job still isn't done, nor is it done properly. FYI, recommended conditions for planting grass is moist dirt and 65 degrees soil. Either Chad doesn't know this or he doesn't care. Not sure which one is more problematic. After my pushback on their desire to dump seed on my wet, frozen yard was met with a "drag my feet" response from them, I realized either way, I'm going to be left with a crappy front yard that just cost me over $11K. So, I cut my losses and will now go find another company to finish the job correctly. read more

One star because zero star is not an option. This company is horrible and should not be in business. Other 'yelpers' on here that are giving this company 5 stars are probably coming from the owners themselves. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. There's no excuse for their lack of communication and failing to follow through with the contract--it wasn't that difficult. We had a legally binding contract that he did not fulfill on his end. I hate to go this route, but seriously considering legal action. I feel sorry for the workers and having to report to Chad and his lack of regard for the customers with his excuses for not completing the work. I didn't ask for much, just what was discussed in our contract. What I received was excuses and unfinished work. Time to get Jesse Jones on King 5. Seriously! read more

Chad is very unprofessional. Does not follow through. Trees died after 1 month. He was always coming back with more charge above his bid. Had a call from one of his subs threatening to place a lien on OUR property because Chad had not paid him within 90 days. Chad told this sub we hadn't paid Chad which was a blatant lie. We met with sub & showed him our cancelled checks. Very bad experience -- NEVER AGAIN! read more

Wish I could give them 0 stars. Called them in March for a quote to fix 1 pothole in my driveway. They said they would be out within the next couple of weeks to give me the quote. Said the minimum would be $700. Waited 8 weeks and emailed to ask if they had a chance to do a quote. They responded with a rude response saying they had left a message sometime ago to let me know they will not be able to do this job. I responded by telling them I got no message except that it would take several weeks to get a quote. Robin then apologized and asked for my address. (Was kind of wondering why she hadn't asked for that before the first email, but ok I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) I then get an email that they will be out tomorrow and asked if I needed to be here. I told them they could just come and email me a quote. She replied "perfect". Then I get one more email that the minimum price for 1 pothole is now $1500 and needed half down to be put on the schedule. What a waste of time!! STAY AWAY from this company. Rated one star because 0 is not an option. Called for an estimate to install double check valve for sprinkler system. Chad (company owner) showed up on time for appointment but it all stops there. He must think nobody does their homework. First he more than doubled the price of the check valve to $364.00, then he almost doubled the price of parts to charge $702.00 in labor, then he wanted to charge $75.00 to test a pre-tested and approved check valve ($15.00 more than anyone else) that does not have to be tested until next season plus tax the estimate came to $1240.26. I already had the hole dug with pipe exposed, it would have been maybe an hour and a half tops to set the box and glue in the valve. I HAD IT DONE FOR $350.00 INCLUDING TAX. read more
