Two different bids- Trees- BIG CEDARS. Came out to bid, gent was professional and very knowledgeable. Fair pricing. Husband just didn't pick them of the five bids. Not about money. We went with arborist. Deck bid- Building a large floating deck for base of greenhouse. Very high bid for labor, bid was not detailed enough. Didn't break down ttl cost lumber pkg, labor cost was only thing detailed. Got vibe they didn't want to communicate or interested in job. This is incredibly important job to me so went with different company. read more

My wife and I hired Skagit Branches to terrace our front yard. My home is on a hill, and we wanted more usable front yard, as well as a more convenient garden space. Ezequiel was great to work with from day one. Unlike other companies we received quotes from, he could explain where every penny of the job was going, from the price of the retaining wall blocks, the caps, the cost of the excavator for removing the decorative boulders the previous owner put on my property, and so on to the labor itself. When we were trying to choose the type of retaining wall blocks to use, he didn't want to make my wife walk from our door down to their truck, and carried the various block types up to the door so she could choose (the lightest of these blocks is about 80 pounds). Even though Skagit Branches is in Mt. Vernon, Ezequiel drove down to my home (over an hour away) multiple times during the quoting process to go over plans and design, walk through the property, and make sure my wife and I were getting exactly what we wanted. While the job was underway, he'd check-in with me regularly to make sure I was satisfied. I had concerns about using standard PVC for drainage, since I don't want any chemicals going into a garden I'll be using to grow food. Ezequiel was happy to use HDPE (high density polyurethane, a drinking water safe alternative). I had a number of other alternative approaches I wanted to take due to my concerns about the ecology or food I'd be producing, and Ezequiel worked with me through each one, calling his suppliers and working through my concerns until I was satisfied. The total work included building about 240' of retaining wall, removing over 20 existing trees, plants, and bushes, as well as a few tons of decorative landscaping boulders the previous owner had put in, and bringing in over 60 tons of fresh dirt and compost. Ezequiel went above and beyond. When there was extra gravel from my job, he didn't take it away for another job. He used it to repair the gravel walk on the side of my home and make it brand new again. When the new dirt I'd brought in was moved into my garden, he asked if I had a pressure washer he could use to clean my driveway. I said I did so he didn't bring his. When my pressure washer failed to start, Ezequiel and his team cleaned the driveway using a hose and a bunch of hard scrubbing. I highly recommend Ezequiel and Skagit Branches. read more
