This school has been the best thing for both of my daughters. The 4 teachers here are excellent. My daughters are excited to go to school each day, they have learned so much and have gained a self confidence they didn't have before. I would recommend this school over and over to anyone. They keep everything clean and sanitized, are very personable and trustworthy. They also plan field trips, snow days and other non school day events which the whole family can participate in. Our experience the past yr has been great! We absolutely love the teachers, who truly care about our little boy. We were actually wait listed at a cheaper local co-op that is popular, but after comparing the two, Seaside is way better and we chose not to leave once we got a call from the other school. Seaside Co-Op is a nice balance of academic and social development. This is a co-op, so a parent or family member works at the school about 3x a month. It has been wonderful getting to be involved in the school process (though I don't have to teach) and seeing him develop friends. Because it's a co-op, it's much more affordable than "drop-off" preschools. Great school. We love it! Oh, and our little boy was not potty trained by 3 (yes, we were "behind")....didn't matter, no potty training required. Yay! :) read more

Both of my children attended Seaside. I wanted to find a co-op preschool & this was the best choice around IMO. I liked being able to share the first school experience with my children. Seaside Parent Participation Preschool is like family to us :) My son has spent the last 3 years with Mrs Lacroix and Mrs Atkins who are such caring and amazing teachers!! We knew he was in good hands from the first day we toured the school, he was smiling and wanted to join in with the class...and now he doesn't want to leave. At the time this was great to see as he had not had anyone else look after him other than myself and my husband. Being parent participation school, we have had the opportunity to not only see our son learn and grow, we have also gotten to know other wonderful kids and parents. This is our fourth preschool in 3 years, and by far the best. The teachers are so caring, and the parent board members are so great. The school in general is just to effortlessly and amazingly organized. The ability to be in the classroom (once every two weeks or so) and see my little one learn and socialize and grow is priceless, and something that I will miss so much when she goes to kindergarten. We have been very happy with our experience at Seaside Co-op Preschool. In 2 years here, our son has come so far both socially and academically. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school and the teachers. They are so nurturing and caring; my son couldn't wait to come every morning just to see them. After 4 years at Seaside (my eldest son and my youngest son have both attended) I can really say - we love this school! After looking at so many pre-schools for my first-born that resembled orphanages I can recommend (if you don't need daycare/full-time) that co-op schools are the BEST choice for kids. It's a clean, happy, cheerful environment where all the moms (or dads, grandmas, etc) participate and give the best attention and care to the school. You KNOW what's going on with your children. And the kids LOVE mommy (or daddy or grandma) going to school with them on their designated workdays! Seaside is very affordable in comparison to non-co-op schools (although a little more than other co-ops in Torrance) and worth every penny. My boys loved going to Seaside. The teachers are wonderful - caring and compassionate but also give the children the loving guidance/discipline they need. Mrs. Atkins actually put a stop to my "rambunctious" eldest son's terrible habit of hitting other children (he was actually kicked out of his previous school). And she did it without ever saying a harsh word, it was just her firm but gentle authority that commanded respect from him. My little one loves his teacher "Mrs. Ma-Croy" (actually Mrs. Lacroix) and he asked for her all summer. So you know it's a good school when the kids WANT to go back! read more

Both of my kids went to Seaside Co-op years ago, and I later became a teacher/director there as well. Seaside was a beautiful place to work, not just because I loved working with kids, but because of the close knit community that is created each year. Families work side by side with the teachers to learn and grow together. Although I don't work there anymore, not a day passes where I am not thankful for the families and friends I met and made, and for the impact working there has made on my life. Seaside is an amazing place for young families who want to be hands on with their child's early education. I would recommend it to any family I know. read more

My daughter had never attended any school before Seaside and has blossomed into a more outgoing little girl since attending Seaside! The teachers are kind and ABSOLUTELY amazing! My older daughter is about to start her third and last year at Seaside Co-op (she started when she was 2) and we love this school. I wanted a parent participation school because I wanted to be able to see her and her classmates in action (when it's my day to work in the school), and know that when I wasn't there, it would be other moms and dads (in addition to the teachers, of course) who would be there. I picked this school over others that we considered in Redondo and Palos Verdes because I felt we clicked the best with the Seaside teachers. Mrs. Lacroix and Mrs. Atkins are awesome, loving, skilled teachers who are very good at wrangling a group of 24 kids in patient and encouraging ways, and getting them ready for kindergarten with letters, shapes, colors, etc. As my older daughter heads to kindergarten a year from now, my younger daughter will start at Seaside, and I'm sure she'll have just as much fun as her big sister. Children are not required to be potty-trained before they start here; this was a good thing for us. The extra work required of the parent in the parent-participation model is not overwhelming, IMHO; last year with my daughter attending 4 days/week, I normally had 3 workdays per month, plus my extra "chairmanship" monthly task (each family has one). I enjoy how the workdays keep me so connected to the daily life of the school. Thank you Seaside folks for giving my daughter such a positive preschool experience! read more

Our son loved Seaside and we had an incredible experience with the all of the teachers. Not only did they foster a caring and loving family like environment in the classroom but they continued to reach out after our son left the school. We loved the fact that we could be a part of our sons learning process and then use those techniques to reinforce the learning process at home. And because the families participate in the process most everyone takes a "it takes a village" attitude which can certainly be helpful to parents nervous about sending their little ones to preschool. read more

This will be my 3rd year at Seaside & I am so fortunate to have found this preschool! My daughter went for a year and my son is going into his 2nd year and we love it. The 2 teachers are amazing, so gentle and kind with our kids, one of them having been there 12+ years! It is a small preschool, and it's nice because you form a preschool family. It is a co op, and parents have designated work days in the preschool each month. It's a wonderful experience to be a part of your child's preschool years. The parents form a little preschool family, you could call it after working in the classroom and watching the children all progress together. It is very neat at the end of the year to see the changes each child has gone thru and to be a small part of it all. My son who is my 2nd child I've put in Seaside was only 2 1/2 when I put him in Seaside but he really grew so much, and as nervous as I was each day just because of his age and him being one of the youngest, the teachers were wonderful at re-assuring me that he is doing amazing. I even had other parents come to me on several occasions to compliment my son in how he has really come out of his shell, and enjoying preschool. That was huge for me. On the days I wasn't working in the classroom, I had other parents along with the teachers that have all my trust, watching him, teaching him and helping him grow. Both of my kids attended Seaside Parent Participation Preschool. We have been involved with the school for the past four years and it was the most AMAZING experience! It is perfect for those families that want to be involved with their kids preschool experience. We have made friends with other families that will last a lifetime. Also, the teachers are amazing! My son was well prepared for kindergarten, and my daughter is too prepared for TK :0) it is a smaller school, with only about 12 kids per class, but that is exactly what we wanted. Previously we attended a large impersonal preschool in Palos Verdes, which we left, because we wanted a place where our kids were not a number but rather a person. I choose Seaside b/c I wanted my children to attend a fun preschool that would properly prepare them for Kindergarten (socially and academically). This school provides learning in the key areas of writing, recognizing patterns, math, phonics, cutting, rhyming words and etc. After both of my boys attended Seaside, they did transition well to the Kindergarden curriculum beyond my expectations.
