This is a sanctuary for birds that have been injured in some way. The birds are treated and either released back into the wild or kept there if they are unable to survive on their own. There are a lot of birds here, pelicans, eagles, owls , egrets and herons of all kinds. Many of the birds are in cages but the are a lot of birds just flying around and nesting in the trees. The do very good work here and have public release events that are popular with the public. Very nice. There is no entrance fee but you can donate money to their cause.

This place has done so much for birds and other animals over the years. I have brought them so much and referred so many people. Been to a bird releasing once too. I just love the people here and the volunteers and the people who donate. This place and the people who run it deserve daily medals and back rubs

Quaint bird sanctuary. Free to explore and lots of birds within. Staff were all very kind and you could tell the birds were well taken care of. My son loved looking at all of the birds and it made for a great small outing for the day.

This place takes injured wild birds and rehabs them... it gives permanent homes to some and releases those that heal and can survive again back into the wild It is a small place right on the water, between large buildings but makes a pleasant little excursion to its sanctuary... there are enclosures that house many birds, but there are also visiting wild birds walking and flying about... there are many nesting birds atop the trees and even on top of some of the enclosures. We loved our visit... the sanctuary survives on donations, so be generous when you walk through... buy something at the gift shop, support this small, peaceful place that gives assistance to injured birds!

A real gem for a family with kids looking for an afternoon activity! There are several types of birds like owls, pelicans, and even an eagle. Not to mention an open area under the trees where there are birds standing next to you. Feels like being transported to a jungle. The sanctuary is free admission though I highly suggest a donation to keep this great place operating. As a bonus there is beach access and a cool tower with seating for you to enjoy beach views. The Parking lot is tiny and difficult to get out of but there is street parking on the main road. Suggest parking there if you plan on going to the beach while visiting so you don't take up a parking spot.

My grandmother brought me here as a little girl. I brought my own children here, and now my granddaughters have had the experience for the first time. This is a great, free activity for the days when it's too cool for the beach. Bring cash for donation or check out all the cool items they have in their gift shop. This is a non-profit that does great work for local birds and need all the help they can get. Their neighbors have been trying for years to get them kicked out of this spot, so I'm always happy to see them prevailing in their work.

Please come and visit and see how well the birds that are here are being taken care of. This is a beautiful location . After walking through the sanctuary and making a donation to support all this great work, that's being done through volunteers and through actual veterinarians. The beaches, a walk-through the birds are well taken care of. Some interesting facts, of course watching the birds is always fun for our family. We brought our out-of-town guests here so they can see some local birds as well as enjoy the beach shore.

I've been to the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary years ago so I wanted to check it out again. It's nicely located on the beach side on Indian Shores Beach. They are a non profit sanctuary that takes care of injured seabirds. They have a hospital on site and people even bring birds to them if they r hurt. It's a nice quick trip. It takes about a half hour to an hour tops and convenient since there is free parking right there. It definitely is worth a stop. There is no entrance fee. They do ask for donations and it does go for their great cause. My favorite were the Blue Jays, the chirpy parakeets, the serious and stern owls, and the white Pelicans. They have vultures and a bald eagle too amongst their other residents. Another nice feature I didn't know or remembered they have is a great observation deck. You will have a pretty beach view here full of the ocean, sand, and palm trees with coconuts. Just think it's a free top level view, with no obstruction and not crowded. That's perfect. They do have times for different tours or presentations. I took a picture of the times. I didn't see one at the time because it was a stormy day and the rain came through right as I left. Definitely check it out!

This is a cool little place located right on the beach and the volunteers do a wonderful job of caring for birds that are injured. Some of the birds here are permanent residents since they can't be rehabilitated and released. They have different kinds of owls, pelicans and other birds and also have pelican and other bird feeding shows. They depend on donations so if you visit, please make any size donation that you can at one of the donation boxes located throughout the sanctuary.

Please go here and support this organization! This is a great place for teaching kids about local wildlife and rescue and it's all quite entertaining. Many rescued and permanently disabled birds are in cages and they are quite a sight to see. Also, lots of local birds hanging out and nesting in the trees. There's a great balcony to climb up and see the ocean from a high view. They brought out two different owls whywe were there and they were beautiful!

    Bill catching the bird

Bill came within minutes of us calling. He responded very fast to my call about a hurt bird that needed saving. He caught the bird in one attempt. He is very skilled.

Walking along the beach today and I saw this sign for free admission to a bird sanctuary so I walked up and was surprised at how big this place is. They have several aviaries with a variety of birds including my favorite, owls. They also had the largest seagulls and pelicans that I've ever seen. My absolute favorite exhibit was the bald eagle. Please help to support this wonderful place by donating as you walk through and enjoy the exhibits. They really do good work.

Largo Central Park itself is beautiful and beautifully laid out. We were happy to visit during the month of December 2019. This is a super cute small scale railroad which is suitable for kids ages 1 +. During the first weekend of the month they offer complimentary rides on both Saturday and Sunday. The rides are from 10am-4pm and be prepared to wait in line. Although we arrived there shortly after 10am there was still a fairly fast moving but lengthy line that made me wonder how it would be if you arrived before 10am. There were two trains in operation the day we went so this made the process faster. Upon arrival you are asked to fill out and sign a waiver for you and your family that is taking part in the ride that absolves the "railroad company" of any liability if you are injured. Then you are given a punch card with the date you attended punched out on it. You are allowed to rode once on either day of the first full weekend of the month. For December they had a Santa and Mrs. Claus sitting on a bench under the covered portion of the outdoor "station" as you meandered through the line. You could take a complimentary picture with the duo and they handed out candy canes to the little ones. Everyone that worked there was so nice as well! When you arrive We chose to go on a Sunday in December and were not disappointed. Our daughter is train/ride obsessed and loved this. She enjoyed looking at all the holiday decor and zooming past the water feature as well as going in the tunnel. It was fun and a cute activity for her to partake in. She loved pointing out the other train go by as we whizzed past and she loves going in the tunnel. She had a permasmile the entire time. They even offer a Polar Express Ride on select evenings during the holiday season where all the decorations are illuminated and I believe refreshments are included for a fee. If our daughter had a later bedtime we would have bought tickets for this but it will have to wait. After going on the train we checked out different aspects of the park such as their massive Christmas tree (daughter is obsessed) as well as their awesome playground area which was the coolest that I have been to in awhile. There were lots of features for a variety of ages! Parking for the railroad is the same parking as the park.

Ever since Publix Aprons Cooking School closed, I've been looking for a cooking school that has fun adult classes. The Kitchen House has just started a monthly "book club" called Plot to Plate where they feature a book that relates to or includes recipes. This month was Lessons in Chemistry so my friends and I decided to attend. We bought our tickets in advance as classes can sell out. The classes are different prices depending on what the class is. The house is in a residential neighborhood in College Park and does not have a dedicated parking lot so I would suggest getting there early as you have to find a spot along the street. When we arrived, we were greeted and given a welcome drink, in this case Cardamom Decaf Coffee because it was cold out. One of the instructors said that normally we would walk the garden at the beginning of class and also eat outdoors but since it was cold, we were going to skip the garden and eat inside. Once everyone arrived (cooking classes can have up to 20 people), we met in the lobby to start talking about different themes of the book. Then it was time to wash up and go to the kitchen. All the ingredients were set out for us and we picked the Veggie Pot Pie table with other attendees. The instructor gave us some knife skills lessons and then we all started cooking, using the recipes at our station. Each station makes one recipe so you don't get to make everything. And, the instructors and volunteers don't show you how to make everything first (like Publix Aprons used to do). But, if you just dig in and start going, it is a lot of fun. We had some questions along the way, like is there a spatula we can use? Or, is this the flour or the cornstarch? The volunteers were great and answered everything in a friendly way. As it said you could do in the welcome email we received before the class, some folks brought their own wine and the Kitchen House provided glasses and would pour for you. I think if we go back, we would definitely bring our own wine. My friends and I made the drop biscuits for the Veggie Pot Pie, which were surprisingly easy to make. We were finished early so we also make the Brownies for dessert that used olive oil and maple syrup instead of butter and sugar. When everyone was done cooking, we gathered in the lobby again while the volunteers cleaned and set up the table for dinner. Then, it was time to eat! Dinner was served buffet style and the Kitchen House split our food for people who had different dietary restrictions. For example, some of the recipes used non-dairy alternatives as some people in the class were lactose intolerant and one person had a mushroom allergy so they got a small spinach gallette instead of the mushroom Gallette for everyone else. As we sat down to eat, we discussed the book more in depth. Everything tasted great and we had a wonderful time. We received all the recipes in an email after the class so we could make the foods at home. I will definitely be looking at other adult classes here.
