It's really sad to see, they just stare out into the room at nothing. They had an extremely small circular tank with two jellyfish that had water circulating around. It was tangling the jellyfish together and ripping off their tentacles. The pool for the seals is very small for the amount of them, and you can buy and feed the seals, so i'm not sure if they get too much food? or to little? Floors are damp, room is dark, very small. So sad. I was heartbroken for all these little guys when I left.

The ticket comes with a tour of an actual boat, which we did first, it's a steep ladder to go down into the boat so I would recommend only to people in better health. You can walk on top of the boat as well if you can't go down inside. The actual museum itself is so well curated and has SO many rooms and exhibits to look at. They have 3D movie options which we didn't do, but the museum itself is beautifully done and worth it if you have time in Astoria.

I didn't have any issue with the staff as some have written about, and I cannot imagine anything they could have done diminishing my enjoyment of this museum. We talked for ages, he shared with us his passion for wildlife, gave us background information on nearly everything in the aquarium, and set us up for a fun little exploratory venture. After we got our little cup of shrimp, we were off - we fed the fish and the ducks, read every little piece of information available, and checked in with Mark anytime we wanted to learn a little more. You could be in and out of here in a matter of minutes, but we took our time and enjoyed this quaint, local, and loved aquarium for what it is.

This is in the heart of downtown Portland (kitty corner from Pioneer Square) so MAX is probably the easiest but we also found parking garage close by on Alder. There was only one person working there but she was so friendly and we were able to look around while we waited for our turn to go inside. (Side note: love that the decor in the bathroom documents all the planning and construction process of this place!) You get a super well-made adventure book to check off all the sea creatures in the book while learning about them. Our favorites were the sea sheep and the deep sea creatures. What up Blobfish! It only took us about 45 minutes to go through the whole place but they do give you a secret code word for the day so you can come back as many times as you want in a day which is great. Saw some thousands of baby salmon schooling in the hatchery ponds as well as some huge fish in a different pen. There's also hiking trails and a small waterfall trail that's easy to get sidetracked off from. Note: if you don't find the waterfall within seven minutes of embarking on the trailhead, you've likely gone too far. . There's also a nice little bathroom inside the office when it's open and what looks like a larger than average porta-potty outside for when it's not. Stop by! Very educational and a nice place to stretch your legs for a bit.
