Goonies never say...... Some movies are classics. I will forever love watching the Goonies. It has always been one of my favorites. The fact it was made in my home state of Oregon just makes it a little bit more awesome. Being in Astoria on vacation made this house a bucket list item. We didn't need to look through the windows at what the new owners had done. Or take items. There is a donation box. Please help pay for the constant vandalism. There was a time a previous owner had stopped access for obvious reasons. Let's try and respect the current owner and not keep the true fans from enjoying a bit of Oregon movie history. Just being in front of this actual lived in house from the Goonies movie is amazing. I really enjoyed thinking about all the movie scenes and how cool it would have been to be on set for filming. So much history. I know we've seen it already but I can't wait to see it up close again. read more

I've probably seen The Goonies movie about 50 times in my life. While in Astoria, we decided to come by to check out the house. It was pretty easy to research and map out how to get here. It's in a neighborhood on a private driveway. Be sure to not park in their driveway or the neighbor's spot. You can park in the neighborhood somewhere and walk up. There's a sign at the bottom of the driveway too, the owners know people will come by to take photos etc, so they aren't bothered by it. Just be respectful and you'll be fine. For any inconvenience, they put out a donation bin if you want to drop a few dollars for coming by. Cool to see the house that I admired as a little kid. Glad to have come by to snap a few photos and see it in person. We walked the neighborhood too, we were out of there in like 20 mins. Childhood memory fulfilled. read more

Goonies house did not disappoint! We were excited and thrilled that we got up early and made it to the house before a bunch of people were around and as not to bother the homeowner. Be respectful get your photo and move along and the mystery neighbor that gets after people won't even bother you. read more

The Goonies House is meh at best. I definitely wouldn't take the trip all the way to Astoria to just look at it. The owners wanted $500 just to take a picture standing on the porch. Overall, it's just not worth it. read more

The house must have changed hands within the last few months based on our visit today. 1. The signs at the bottom of the driveway near the mailboxes about trespassing and calling the police are gone. The only sign next to the mailboxes says "YES." 2. We exchanged pleasantries with both the owner (or whoever was in the house at the time) and a neighbor to the right (if you're looking at the house). Both women gave big smiles and said hi. 3. The house was in great shape. I assume the tarps mentioned by other visitors were for renovations by the new owner. We left $20 in the donation box and parked in the boat launch lot next to the Comfort Suites. Don't park or pull over in the neighborhood nearby the house. Parking at the boat launch is $10 for the day and we left our parking ticket in the machine for the next person. Good spot to access the Riverwalk too. You can park for free at Safeway, which is a little further from the house. Being respectful of the neighbors and neighborhood will ensure future visitors are able to enjoy access too. read more

We parked at Safeway and walked up to view the house. We fully planned on viewing from afar as to respect the fact that this is someone's home. Just because it was a part of a film doesn't mean it isn't private property now :) We arrived at the driveway and there were two signs that said walk up only and yes with foot prints! We walked up to the house and took photos. We were greeted by the home owner and had a nice chat with her about her purchase and remodel of the home (hence the tarps in previous reviews). She was very sweet about our visit and asked us about our plans for the day! I feel if you come during daylight, walk from a public parking area and act respectfully you will have no issues There is a donation box in front of the home to contribute to the remodel expenses of a home that was once a foreclosure :) donate for the preservation of the goonies home! read more

This was almost too surreal to see- I watched this movie as a kid and was completely captivated by it- so I ran off to Astoria on a whim recently and I wasn't disappointed. PARK BY THE SCHOOL on the side street -its also known as the Kindergarden Cop filming area- or they will ticket you in that town- you'll be a few blocks from the goonies house at this point. Walk politely your in a residential area the people are nice and sweet and kind some a bit eccenrtric and a blast like the lawn art lady I passed- when you get to the Goodies house area - BE QUIET walk up quietly- if there is a sign that says no- dont do it. It's private property. If it says yes- do it. Make sure you leave the home owner a tip there is a box outside- he doesn't have to let people on her property but she does and she's fantastic for doing so! It's amaze balls. Firstly yes please respect that it's someone's home and don't drive up the drive way blocking residents in. We visited Astoria mainly to see locations from the Goonies and we swung by one morning to see the Goon Docks. It's nice to see it in real life and worth it if you live the movie. It is just a house though so don't expect a mini museum or anything. Go get your photos and then enjoy the rest of your day. read more

Contrary to popular opinion, the owners of this house are NOT A-holes, and I can say this first hand. In fact, they are actually quite nice. The consensus of most people is "if they didn't want people coming by to look at it, they shouldn't have bought it." What people don't know is that 1,000 plus people per day weren't going by to look at it when they bought it back in the early 2000's. A few jerks had to ruin it for everyone by being rude and leaving cigarette butts and other trash around the house and loitering around. I've seen some other people posting (on other sites than Yelp) that they should turn it into a museum. It's not that simple - what about the neighbors? You can't put a museum in the middle of a neighborhood - where would everyone park? I agree that this is somewhat of an iconic house. Be respectful and view the house from Duane street. Listen I kind of understand why the homeowner doesn't want any visitors but come on you bought the Goonie house and expect people not to be curious themselves. I'm a Goonie and this adventure is not complete without seeing the house. My daughter and I walked to the house the morning of thanksgiving 2018. We stayed Hampton Inn and had no idea it was across the street. It was quiet morning bit of rain. We saw the sign to not enter but since the street was still part of public street I walked up and took some pictures. Sad that the house was tarped. No one was around except for a neighbor talking on the phone on the porch but no one said anything. It was still great to see it and admire the view. On another note I really enjoyed the city where Mikey's dad worked and the jailhouse. A MUST to take drive to Cannon Beach and the view of Haystack Rock from Ecola State Park. Don't let the house disappoint as the town is charming to explore. Overall all I had a great and memorable experience and got to share it with my oldest daughter. Goonies Never Say Die read more

I thought it was cool to see this home! The movie is a classic and I've read quite a few reviews about how the owner/s are mean or angry. I found the opposite. There was plenty of parking on the streets nearby. A short walk up the driveway and you'll come to a fence with a great view of the house and of Astoria. "It's a boy thing." That may explain why I've never been on the Goonies bandwagon. I love movies and all things Oregon, but watching the movie with my boys as an adult was painful. Still, I thought my boys would get a kick out of seeing the house in Astoria. Not really much to do but honor the owner's request and leave your car down the hill and approach by foot to take a couple photos. The views of the city and the bridge are lovely from here. Came all the way to Astoria from Brooklyn with a Goonies cohort of fifteen people. Showed up at the Goonies House at 10:00 pm and had to pound on the door for ten minutes before anyone opened up. Who closes anything before midnight? What is this, 1859? The owner/guide was very, very rude and told us to go away. I explained that we came all the way from Brooklyn just to see the Goonies House and they didn't even care! Told us we had to leave or they'd call the cops! So we sat down and wouldn't budge until they gave us a tour. The owner called the police! Can you believe it? And they didn't even take us to the cool Goonies Jail (which is apparently now a museum), but took us to some lameass regular jail. They took our fingerprints and told us to get out of town. Never coming back here again. So rude! read more

Growing up on the east coast, visiting the west coast was always a dream of mine. Seeing the Goonie house was on my to-do list. Unfortunately​ when we visited the house was tarped over and seemed to be lacking basic maintenance​. ​Why buy a historical, well-known​ house and not take care of it? We made sure to keep a good distance from the house out of respect of the owners and neighbours​. There are plenty of viewpoints to see the house from around the neighbourhood​. Besides the visitors​ for the house coming and going, it's a fairly quiet street. The school that Kindergarten​ Cop was filmed at is just a few blocks down. The home from The Goonies remains a private residence - it is not a museum or otherwise maintained attraction for public admittance. Accessed by a narrow dead-end street and even narrower driveway, crowds of visitors can make things uncomfortable for not only this homeowner, but for the residents of dozens of homes in the blocks surrounding it. When visitation was becoming an overwhelming presence to most in the area ~10 years ago, we came together with those residents and asked that film fans view the home from viewpoints nearby. We continue to encourage fans to refrain from driving into the neighborhood to seek out the house. While the owner of this location from The Goonies is a fan of the movie and enjoys chatting with visitors making the trek to Astoria to see the film locations, as you can imagine, it gets hard having hundreds of people crowding into your personal space every single day. Please consider visiting the Oregon Film Museum, itself an iconic location from the movie. The museum offers a public-facing experience to learn more about the heritage of movie making in Astoria. Then, get your photo of the "Walsh House" as seen in The Goonies from Columbia Baseball Field, the East Mooring Basin, or from the sidewalk to the east of Astor Elementary School, both located just a few blocks from the home. Came here on a business trip my since my niece and nephew know I love this movie they drove me 2 hours to see it..... We were greeted by numerous keep away signs and an overly involved nosey self appointed neighborhood watch tye dyed man... That yelled at us and flipped us off.... As soon as I walked up the drive i knew which house I was looking for. I call my brother and send him a pic via text of the house. What does he say? "I never saw that movie. Why are you there?" hahahaha.... oh brother. If you were born in the late 70s or early 80s, you KNOW The Goonies. (Unless you're my brother.) Currently (Aug, 2010) the house is for sale. And for CHEAP! The owners must be sick of the constant visitors. They seem friendly enough but I'm sure after years and years of people on their driveway, looking through their windows, and taking pictures, that routine gets pretty old. In less than 10 mins about 12 people rolled up. Everyone was polite, no one bothered the owners or their neighbors, and it was fun to hang out a bit and ask how far people came from. One girl came all the way from Buffalo, NY! (The friends I took along with me came from NYC). The house looks pretty much the same as it did in the movie and it was really easy to find. I guess I'm the only one who has never seen the movie Goonies! I checked in to yelp when we got to Astoria and it suggested this place. Since I haven't since it I was intrigued. Went to this place, beware you have to park far away from the house. You need to walk to the house and not disturb the people who live there. I have to say it must be so annoying to have people gawking at your house all the time. Lol but I guess that's what you get for buying a landmark. We just took pictures. I guess it's fun to be part of history! But now I really need to go watch this movie since it's such an iconic movie! I'm very sad that I wasn't one of the lucky folks who had the opportunity to visit the goonies house when the previous owner was around. From what I have heard and read, she was friendly, welcomed guests and would even allow people to come up on her porch. The new guy... well, he's a jerk. He tarped up the house, but it's still recognizable. He doesn't allow people to come up to the house for photos. Although you could absolutely risk it, I didn't feel like dealing with it. Honestly, I was psyched enough just to see the house from the street below. You can still get a good view of the house, the skylight in the attic where they found the map to one-eyed willie's treasure, the porch where mikey and brandon shared a brotherly hug reminiscing about their time in the goondocks and the infamous fence where Chuck had to do the truffle shuffle. Data's house is still blue and also can be seen from the street. Standing in the goondocks, looking up at the goonies house was magical enough for me and I was more than content with that experience. I do wish the new owner would lighten up and allow people to walk on foot to see the house. Why would you buy such an iconic home and not want to share the magic with others?! Another reason to visit? Astoria is magical and the cutest little town ever. Tons of other movies have been filmed in this area. And even though the owner of Mikey's house is a jerk, there are houses within the goondocks that have little decorations in honor of the cult classic movie. Totally worth seeing! read more

HEY YOUUUU GUYYYYYS!! I'm an eighties child that grew up watching The Goonies....a lot, so it was a no-brainier to stop here as we were going through Astoria last year. The directions were a bit odd, as far as parking goes. Due to it being a major tourist attraction, the neighborhood has put up designated areas on where you should park (several blocks away). Unfortunately, many do not abide, and they'll park in front of their homes, so be kind, don't be a selfish jerk and park in the designated areas. As for the house, it's great to see where Chunk did the Truffle Shuffle and all the memories that came along with that, and that's why I rated it so high. Normally, this would be 3 stars. I would dock it for parking, surly neighbors and all the "rules" to abide if you wish to walk up the drive (which I completely understand why all these are needed), but it's The Goonie House and GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE! read more

Having grown up watching this movie hundreds of times, it would've been blasphemous of me to skip out on making a pilgrimage to this Goonies holy spot during my Oregon visit. The house is situated on top of a hill that has a beautiful view of the town and the bay. Park your car in an open spot across from the street, and head up the gravel driveway by foot. My friend and I parked ours on the street the Fratellis drove up while on the run from the cops. For the most part, the house still looks as it did in the movie.
