The problem is this: After the intake, I scheduled a follow up appointment for additional imaging, only because I was assured (by both the doctor and front desk!) that the office would check my insurance for imaging coverage and follow up with me directly. Instead, no one contacted me at all until I reached out myself days before my x-ray appointment, only to be told (for the first time) that I never qualified for coverage in the first place, and that I'd supposedly already been informed at my first visit. When I pointed out the mismatch between what I was told and what was now being claimed, the office dodged responsibility rather than acknowledge any communication failure. "Hey, so sorry no one reached out to you to follow up. We'll make an effort to fix that in the future." That's really all it would have taken. Instead they went with "We never said that, we already told you." Which is honestly just...why do that? So weird. Tldr: great doctor, but if you go here then get all your communications in writing because their admin WILL gaslight you if they make a mistake. Especially so if you have any doubts at all about how they deal with insurance.

I hadn't realized that my sleep apnea was hindering my body's ability to shed weight, but she helped me understand that sleep and weight issues go hand in hand. I don't think I would've made it without her support! She is extremely encouraging, understanding, non-judgmental and knowledgeable. When I reached my weight loss goal and no longer needed my CPAP, she was the FIRST to celebrate that incredible health milestone with me. You know it's the sign of a great doctor when they are excited to have helped you get to a point where you no longer need them. As the years passed, it gradually turned out that I needed a CPAP again. I had lost track of Dr. Broderick, but when I found out she'd opened her own practice, I was so delighted! I had not cared much for Sound Sleep Health so the opportunity to work with her directly was great! Next, I was booked for an appointment for a 23-hour sleep study at the Cherry Hill location. After that I received helpful information to prepare and start doing my 10 days of sleep logs. I could tell they were on top of things. After all this is science and medicine at it's best. We (the patients) benefit from their knowledge and experience, so following their lead and doing what we are told to do is a very good idea for anyone who wants to get help. Once I arrived at the Sleep Center, I felt more like I was at a spa/hotel than going for a procedure. Everyone was overly kind and most important - experienced with what they were doing. I used to work in technical environments, so I tend to ask questions out of curiosity and also I am a little geeky. They were more than willing to indulge me in details. Oh my! I was also offered helpful tips to get through the 23 hour procedure. It is not frightening. It's actually kinda fun. They had caffeine-free teas, snacks, juices and filtered water to keep me happy. I ate a healthy meal for breakfast as well as the following day for lunch upstairs in the fabulous Swedish Dining Room. Yummmm. And, even though I had "lots of wires & stuff" on my head, I was greeted with smiles and words of comfort from staff and other patients. (One person in the dining hall greeted me and said he had the procedure before. He said it was helpful as he had stopped breathing while sleeping. This is not a small thing to find out!) My overnight sleep was restless, I woke up 5-7 times and my technician was always there for me. This is how I am at home so I am very glad I had just as difficult time there. They could see it. And study it. My daytime naps the following day were less restless and although I don't recall falling asleep, I recall being woke up! How's that! They were able to obtain the data they needed and send me home 1- 1/2 hour early. I watched HGTV in between naps. I checked my email on my laptop. I called my husband a few times. I believe these folks know what they are doing and other than not having a box of Kleenex in my room, they nailed everything else. So glad they are there for us.

Dr. Chen and his staff spend time with you and really get into the different factors that are affecting your sleep. I'm pretty young and was admittedly a little shy about trying out a cpap machine when I had originally come in for insomnia and restless leg but the staff was empathetic and very good at explaining to me how it can help in a way that let me feel open to trying it. They have helped me to figure out what lifestyle changes I need to make for a better sleep (choosing foods with a higher iron content such as beef liver or hemp hearts) and I have left every appointment feeling heard and hopeful. They have a very patient friendly billing policy and are so much cheaper than other sleep centers in the long run. Dr. Chen works with you and listens to your needs, I can happily say that I now have the tools I need for improved sleep and my mood has drastically improved as a result. I would not reccomend any other sleep center and I hope more sleep centers begin to follow this type of practice instead of the typical "spend 15 and throw an expensive device at patients". 10/10 go here.
