2nd cup is a pretty common coffee shop here in Toronto. I came in for a simple iced latte and it did not disappoint! They also have sandwiches in a small amount of café and bakery options . Pretty good cup of coffee ! The locations I've been to are pretty compact with a counter you walk up to and purchase your coffee and not too much sitting room. I took my coffee to go. Now open Saturdays in addition to Monday to Friday, it is fantastic seeing one if my all time Canadian favorites, Second Cup, for a great cup of Joe and baked goods. This location is within the medical building, so I might be a bit easy to miss. The batista is amazing and friendly, offering to warm up my wife's croissant and putting the additions in the coffee as cream due to covid. A friend and I stopped in at this location yesterday (Sat.) afternoon while we were exploring venues during Doors Open. This particular Second Cup is located on the ground floor of Kensington Eye Institute with a front entrance directly from outside; the location is fairly small but it was uncrowded when we ordered therefore we received fairly prompt service. I ordered a Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookie (see pic. below) which I found quite enjoyable. They have a fairly wide variety of both drinks and baked food. Being at the north end of Kensington Market and a short walk west of the Spadina streetcar line and Chinatown, the venue is in a convenient location, close to lots of other stores and other amenities. In my view it's worth a visit if you're in the immediate vicinity and desire/are in need of a fairly quick beverage and/or food fix. read more

This SC has been through a couple different owners over the last few years and I had the pleasure of meeting the current owner, David, over a hot chocolate here recently with a Next Door meetup. Quite an interesting experience chatting about coffee, and running a business in the College St/ Kensington market area. This SC can create whatever drink you can imagine! Just ask the barista and they will be happy to accommodate whatever you would like to have. This is a smaller location attached to the medical centre beside it with a hallway so it's a great spot to hang out in if you are waiting for an appointment in the building or for someone to come pick you up. There's a cool line drawing of famous Kensington market iconography to draw you in, and when we were there the space was nicely decorated for Christmas. There's a cozy spot at the back of space to sit that is away from the hustle and bustle, as well as a window spot that is off to the side where you can hide away, yet be in plain site of the busy sidewalk traffic seen through the window. The baking is fully stocked and looked amazing when we were there. The coffee is made with SC own espresso bean which tastes unique and goes well with milk as a latte or on its own as an espresso. There's even a small patio space on the sidewalk out front in the summer to enjoy. It's good to see this SC in David's capable hands and wishing the best going forward, as we look ahead to 2023, with another year to enjoy coffee Second Cup style! read more

This location is my go to coffee place whenever I need a cup of coffee before or during work. The people working here are really sweet and friendly. I've tried several things from the second cup but I've only had the iced vanilla latte from this location a couple of times and I have no complaints. read more

I used to go this place in weekends to study. I liked the service, environment. But my last visit was very disappointing. They decide to keep the washroom closed for customers. First, they do not have the sight near entrance notify customers that there is no washroom available. Second, employee sends customers to some random locations to use washroom and all of those was closed as well. Third, I saw the employee used the washroom, so they just do not want customers use it. Generally good with a few exceptions of burnt coffee like any other coffee shop. When the coffee is brewed well, it is absolutely delicious. Second cup has always been my go to for cold brew. All the staff there have been very friendly and helpful with their menu options. The store is also a bit smaller with less seating compared to other second cups as it is attached to a health center. They also have a customers only bathroom. My favourite coffee from them is the butterscotch cold brew, it's always cold, fresh, and sweet. Remember to join their loyalty/rewards program! read more

This place has been renovated since the last time I came here. It looks great. It has a kind of french cafe feel to it with the light coloured walls, black wooden chairs and square tables. I had a Zucchini walnut muffin and it was delicious and pretty filling. When I'm in the area I would come here again for a quick snack. read more

Second cup? I wouldn't even get my first cup here. The store itself is alright, just your average looking coffee shop. The bathrooms were disgusting, and the coffee was average at best. Do yourself a favor and walk past this one. There's plenty of better coffee shops in the area. read more

On my way to the market stopped in here. Friendly staff for sure that's the reason I've stopped in previously. Only thing with second cup is that the lids stick together and you never know how many fingers have touched yours. Pleasant friendly people. Yummy snacks. To be honest, if I had to pick between Second Cup and Starbucks, Second Cup will usually win with more variety in brew coffees, and a much better selection in pastries. I came here because I was waiting to get a blood test upstairs in the medical offices. I got a blueberry bran muffin, and I have never had such a moist bran muffin (usually dry) There isn't much seating and it's small, and taken up by the people doing the same thing. I always find it odd reviewing massive chains like second cup who already have a pretty set in stone reputation however this location is quite warm and friendly of an atmosphere which some are not, and have very friendly workers. I walked in with my child and was not acknowledged at all. The next 3 people were served ahead of me. When the cashier FINALLY realized that I was standing in front of him for about 3 minutes he did not apologize. I asked how this terrible customer service would be made-up he simply said, " I will not do anything". I asked again and said that at Starbucks I would be greeted at the door he still said, "I will do nothing". Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received and I truly hope that this location learns a lesson because I will escalate this to their head office.
