Most of the time I enjoy my experience at this Second Cup. I have been with friends, work colleagues, or coachees for a session. It can get very busy during coffee break times with the line up out the door and few seats available. My last visit was after work hours around 5PM and there were a few tables occupied but we had spots to choose from. There's also the outdoor seating that you can get to from inside but you may need to manoeuvre your way to the door. Outside if great on a warm day and you also like to people watch. The service was very quick and efficient. I'm not a coffee drinker so I get a tea ($2) or an Italian soda. The tables can be a little close to others so best not to have a private conversation but great for chit chat with friends. The washroom was clean and you don't need a key to get in like some other Second Cups. Will continue to come to this location to meet friends after work or before heading to the market. read more

The last time I've been to a Second Cup was when I lived back home and had a friend working there that got me free frozen hot choco's. I vowed I'd never visit one again because I always found it slow with poor service. However, this little Second Cup buried in the Candian Western Bank building was awesome! I've visited twice now and loved the baristas both times. They seem to enjoy their job unlike every Tim Hortons employee I've come across. Their frozen hot chocolate is the bomb and much more refreshing and better tasting then an ice cap. I love the fact that I can use my SPC card to upsize my drink for free! What a deal! I also enjoy that I don't have to pay to have whipped cream on my drinks Unlike Tim Hortons and cookies by George. They offer it to you free! I can't resist a tea and muffin in the morning. Their chai tea lattes are excellent and always made to perfection. To be honest there are a few other places around that make better coffee and lattes (and are more expensive). But I keep coming back because of the amazing service. I really like this Second Cup, because it usually seems to be open late, when nothing else is open. Also, I like sitting at the front windows and watching Jasper Ave (which is not really that exciting, actually). Last time I went here with a friend, and we were acting very goofy, and we made the coffee girl laugh. She said we were funny. I am not a caffeine drinker, but Second Cup has some amazing options. In the summer, I love to get these tea & berry slushy-type drinks, and in the winter, I get the hot chocolate. Second Cup really has the best hot chocolate I have ever had, and it's better than Starbucks by far. It's very chocolatey, sweet, and creamy. I also prefer Second Cup's atmosphere, because it is always very warm and comfortable. Sometimes it makes me want to stay and chat and sip hot chocolate for hours. read more

This is a good Second Cup. It's been good to me because I've had to stop in here a couple times to use the wi-fi and warm up with a delicious London Fog. I like the stools that this Second Cup has lining the window. I love having this Second Cup located in the same building where I work! Not only is the food delicious (try a warmed-up Ham & Cheddar Croissant - seriously) and the drinks consistently wonderful, but the staff is just awesome. Ian, the owner, remembers so many people and their regular orders. Alex is a master at making hot beverages. Amanda is witty and can pump out some beautiful foam art. I appreciate everyone's smiles and personalities in the morning when I am on the brink of hanger and sleep. Grabbing something at Second Cup is a great start to my day. read more

I've said it before, of course, I'll say it again. I love our local cafes. But when almost every local biz downtown shuts down by 8 PM, where's a girl and her book club supposed to meet? Although I think it's ridiculous that there are two other Second Cups in walking distance, I am grateful for the late hours (till 10 PM) and so were the rest of my literature-loving ladies. Hot coffee (and I much prefer their blends to SBUX), ridiculously tasty treats (I'm always iffy about chain cafe offerings because I don't think they're baked in-store, but some of their cakes are too good to pass up) and quiet background music, perfect for ambience without overpowering levels of conversation. This place isn't too busy on weeknights, just a few other people studying or catching up over coffee. Staff are alright. Never rude, but you get the sense they're just there because it's a job, not for an intense love of coffee. No complaints, but I never feel like I would be a welcomed regular, y'know? Free wifi is cool, but wanting to connect to my Facebook account is not. read more

So let's face it, you are not getting the best in coffee, tea and sweets in this city at any Second Cup. Nobody can make that case and if you could I am convinced you would do well in the field of law. Nor can you defend SC as they are a corporate monster who's franchises hurt independent coffee shops all over Canada. But what you can say about this particular shop is that the staff are great. They are quick, effective and efficient. And what you can say is that the hours of operation are extremely convenient. Open late almost every night of the week. And those are two very attractive points. read more

Okay I tend to like anytime I walk into a Second Cup Cafe, However this one deserves a special consideration. The staff here are always so perky and energetic, they have a way for a moment anyway to make you feel like someone special. The staff are very efficient and conveinently located in City Centre West right by the east enterance to City City. Give yourself a break and next time your in that area, stop in....you'll love it. read more

In a word: Meh... This place is alright in terms of product (except they make their drinks too hot), but if I'm going to spend $4 on a latte anyway, I'd rather spend $5 at Transcend down the block. The service is impersonal and a few of the employees are just plain rude. The fact that it's in the building is the only reason I go there. The other day the staff member getting my pastry stopped midway to check the times on the coffee and then have a discussion about it with a coworker, before finally returning to the till with my food. She didn't even make eye contact with me. Move along to one of the other quality coffee establishments downtown. read more

Most of the staff are rude at best. The ones worth keeping don't seem to last long. The drinks are OK, but the other products (e.g., sandwiches, squares, cookies, and so on) are ridiculously expensive. The girls working here in the mornings are always super friendly! I'm very health conscious, so I love that they have healthy breakfast sandwich options to choose from. They will also toast it for you in house if you don't mind waiting a few extra minutes. In the afternoons they also have really tasty slices of cake (guilty pleasure) and they have a great outdoor seating area where I can go for coffee with friends or coworkers and sit outside and enjoy the sun & sights of jasper ave. The most hilarious thing happened here. Waited in line FOREVER behind two spandex laden bikers. Forever!!! It gave us lots of time to admire the baked goods in the glass cabinet and try to decide if we wanted a muffin or a danish. Finally the drinks in front of us were done, and the Spandex people said, oh wait.. lets get some food too.. and they bought EVERY SINGLE PASTRY IN THE CABINET. I'm not joking, every single flaming one. Like who does that? I didn't even want a coffee... we waited forever for absolutely nothing. But, just then the girl behind the counter dropped an entire bin of muffins on the ground, and we were like.. ok lets go before we pee ourselves laughing. I wanted to wait around to see if she put them in the garbage or back in the counter... but no time for that with a growling tummy. We ended up going to the 7-11 instead to scrounge for sustenance... you know the one, the one with puke, blood and urine in the entrance. Almost preferable to the muffin incident of 2015. read more

Staff are always friendly and prompt in service. They make you feel truly welcome in their establishment. The lattes are alright and the tea is lovely.
