We are strong believers on "you get what you pay for," and opted to go with them even though they were not the cheapest. From beginning to end, the guys at Smart Swim were easy to work with and truly wanted our project to come out great. After 30 years, it was time for our pool to have a remodel! Through the remodel, it was uncovered that we had many severe leaks, down to the rebar that needed to be fixed in some areas. I didn't just jump into this with them, I took probably 2 years deciding on who I should use and why. I met with general builders, discount pool builders, other pool companies and I am so happy that I did my homework. Eric and his team are AWESOME. Chad is his point guy and he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. What they do better than the rest is LISTEN. They really take the time focusing on what you want to accomplish with your pool refresh. I had one of those 70's pools that's 8-9 feet deep. It NEVER warmed to above 80 even in the months where it's a 100 degrees out here for a month. We brought up my depth from 3 1/2 feet to 5 1/2 feet in different areas. We added an 8 foot tanning shelf with stairs. We literally went over every inch of that pool with me in it with a tape measurer just to measure where I wanted the water level in every spot. We made a million changes throughout, as he said in the beginning that we would once things started to take shape. We added the pebble finish. We added new porcelain tile. There are a million options there as well and he guides you through every choice and really has a great understanding of what your water color will end up looking like or how your coping with play with tile that you choose. He/they are way beyond just being knowledgeable. Every inch of your pool will be discussed, if you're that into it. My project took 4 weeks total to finish and came in ahead of schedule. The price I paid was EXACTLY to the penny of what my estimate was, even with the changes that we agreed upon. We took away a few things and added a few things. If I could give 10 stars I would. There isn't ONE inch of my pool that I am unsatisfied with.. Oh, and my water is already at 80 and we haven't even hit the heat of the summer here in the valley. Eric has specialist for every phase of your project and they all were amazing. Clean work, and no debris left after their processes. They were not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive. They landed right on fair. But, worth every penny. My wife and I couldn't be happier. Oh, and if they sucked, I would be the first on here screaming it. The work in question was mostly masonry repair for a pool crack, but it became clear very quickly that he was neither knowledgeable nor reliable. He constantly showed up late (when he showed up at all), invaded my privacy by looking up my personal profile on Facebook, and then lied about it by saying that I had looked him up. Completely unprofessional behavior. On top of that, he tried to charge $2,500 upfront before any work was completed, and then demanded another $2,500 after the supposed "completion"--even though he left the pool completely empty, which every real contractor knows can cause serious structural damage and new cracks. That alone could have cost me thousands. To be safe, I brought in a licensed masonry and construction contractor for a second opinion, and he confirmed what I already suspected: this guy didn't know what he was doing and was simply trying to take advantage of us. His exact words were that the original person I hired was "an idiot" just trying to take us for a ride. Save yourself the stress, money, and potential damage to your property--go with a licensed, experienced contractor who knows pools and masonry. This person is not trustworthy, not knowledgeable, and not worth your time.
