I'm an aunt! My sister just had her first baby and I am now the giddy aunt of an extremely…read morebeautiful little niece. She didn't find out what she was having so everything we'd bought during her pregnancy was neutral - as soon as we found out it was a girl I went into shopping overdrive and, although you can get some really gorgeous little boy clothes, there just seems to be a wider option (and far too many pretty things) for girls! JoJo Maman Bebe is going to leave me bankrupt if they insist on making such gorgeous baby clothes and then over-charging for them. Ok, I'm new to the world of baby stuff, but is £18 really appropriate for a teeny-tiny new-born-baby vest? You can get a pack of 5 for about a tenner in Sainsburys or Mothercare. Still, despite the pricey pricey price-tag, I cannot deny being a huge fan of JMB's range of clothes and the quality of their products. The Autumn collection is now well underway and their selection of corduroy skirts, hooded coats and patterned tights are just so beautiful, how is a brand new aunt supposed to resist? Well, I'll tell you - she doesn't! She just keeps on buying. JMB, you lose one star for the prices, but the range is just stunning and my niece is simply worth it!
Whether you are expecting a baby, or have small children already, this mothercare is a one-stop…read moreshop for all your needs. Its very large and consists of two floors, the downstairs being Mothercare itself and the upper level being the Early Learning Centre. The store stocks a huge variety of all baby/children/toddler items including cots, pushchairs, and clothing for both the little ones and expectant mothers. There is also a Clarks shoe shop to the left hand side of the store where trained shoe fitters will be happy to help you kit out your children's feet. Shop staff are friendly and helpful, and always willing to demonstrate products. The only slight downside is the parking, which can get a bit crowded on busy weekends - however there are other car parks opposite for the stores across the way - Argos, Wickes and Next.

I always want to carry everything home from Carry Me Home- one of the cutest kids stores in London…read more The shop stocks some great childrewear designers like Oh baby and Beauty and the Bib. If you don't have children but your friend has just had a baby then you HAVE to head to Carry Me Home for a cool present. The 'Been Inside For 9 Months' sleepsuits are so gorgeous that I am planning on buying one for a friend who is due any day now. The fruit shaped bibs make meal times a little less messier and are so stylish! If you cannot get to the West End store the owner also has a stall at Spitalfields market on a Sunday. The website is excellent but a little dangerous to my bank account because I always see something I want to get for my son or friends' babies! Carry Me Home will also personalise vests and bibs which make perfect presents. custom

Their selection is really well procured: cute, unique and a thoughtful array that felt the opposite of generic. I wanted a unique gift that had some character and I felt like the store owner had a bunch of options that fit the bill. The owner (don't recall her name) was very helpful, not pushy, and pleasant. Also, I don't know what baby clothes are supposed to cost but I thought the prices were quite reasonable for the quality.

The manager refused to return the item because she deemed it "unsellable"--even though it was in the exact condition I bought it in. The bath had no packaging and I bought it on good faith that the Mothercare brand is one of quality and that I would be treated with respect should I choose not to keep the item. I was wrong. Don't visit this branch. The unkind staff, negative vibes and unreliable products are the last thing you need while pregnant. And if it can be avoided, purchase your baby stuff from places other than Mothercare. I know I will.

While browsing Upper Street I stumbled upon Maggie and Tom, a small shop specialising in natural and organic baby wear. I don't really believe in buying babies expensive things as they are just going to vomit down them and then grow out of them in a couple of months, but as a special present I thought I would push the boat out on this occasion. It helped that the outfits were super cute too! The lovely lady in the shop kindly wrapped said outfit in tissue paper and tied the package up in a pretty bow, consequently making me look much more organised than I actually was. My friend was really pleased with the gift, baby George just looked at it and dribbled, but I'm sure deep down he approves of his new outfit's green credentials!
