I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit here. It is true things come back around. This is an old…read moreneighborhood theatre. There are no bells and whistles here. No lean back, recliner, vibrating chairs, with food service served to you. No it is just a plain small theatre with one popcorn machine, a few concessions people, some candy for sale, a nice somewhat elaborate coffee barista area, and a few select movies showing. I love the quaintness of this theatre. I loved the quirky decor. And I really enjoyed their coffee as well. I came here during the winter when they were showing It's a Wonderful Life. Not only was it was my first time here at the this theatre, it was also my first time seeing this movie. Prior to the showing, a worker stood in front of the theatre to address the crowd with beautiful facts about the movie and Jimmy Stewart. It is an annual event, so if you are curious this is a great way to spend an afternoon. They also have a soap machine making what represents "Snow" outside as you enter the establishment. People also came dressed up in fun winter and Christmas gear. I highly recommend this being done at least once. And if not for this annual showing, any fun date.

The lobby was like stepping into a magical place with old school movie posters. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being there. I could just sit and talk story with strangers about cinema for hours. Wish I could travel to NOLA every month just to watch movies at the Prytania. Why I became an actor and filmmaker was confirmed here.

Successfully live there some nights for a long time I don't want to spoil anything. Very cool art film documentary with a good story. This is a cool event space it looks a little rough, but the movie picture quality and the sound were really good. Very close to the sound of a regular larger theatre. It has chairs and couches pretty comfortable for about 50 people. If you can catch a little small movie here or a band or a play or art exhibit check out that theater we had a good time they have a full bar. They didn't have popcorn that night, but he says they usually do. They also rent the space out for events and parties or a concert that you want play for your friends.

The venue is very laid back, with a neighborhood feel and it caters to everyone. Whether your a "good ole boy" or a "hipster", you will have fun! They have top shelf alcohol that's reasonably priced. The owner, René, is super nice and loves to chat. The bartenders are the same and are not stingy with their pours. Another great thing about this place is even though they sell alcohol, the theater is separate from the bar, so kids are welcome to come watch a good movie! PET FRIENDLY! Plenty of parking! You NEED to give this place a try!
