The screens are too dark and it hasn't improved in over 5 years . I missed most of the movie because you could barely see, the colors are off and also the sound is terrible. This was a great theater for years but it's not worth it . I tell ya what, you can def park freely here! It's so much parking!! Movie line was super quick but even quicker if you buy thru the app. You have to get scanned in once you enter the doors. The bar tho needs work! It's lacking basic beverages like crown, Henney, grey goose, and others to make a decent drink. Plus they atleast should have there own speak drink menu to lively up that spot. It's not welcoming at all. The staff was nice tho and everyone seems happy. Complete foolishness! Considering the movie would've been over by then. The kids last day of high school was on this day so my daughter got emotional and started crying. I can hear Rachel laughing at my child. What confirmed it was when she said, I'm sorry I didn't mean to laugh. She not only made them miss the movie, she hurt my child's feelings. Rachel acted like a Manager and was not 1. Long story short, by the time I made it back to ask for a Manager, a really nice Manager came out and gave us 3 movie tickets for any movie we wanted to see. Oh its been awhile, yeah you know the whole don't ya dare come outta yo house thing. On a whim I thought it might be nice to creep into more public situations. Our mid week adventure to catch the new John Wick movie (RIP John) was the perfect such occasion. I started by buying the tickets online and was surprised to see they offered food delivery to seats. I thought huh? Why not! We opted for a package deal that included Pizza, popcorn and 2 drinks. Cool! Feeling it. We decided on a delivery time of 10 min before the movie started so we would not disrupt others. We arrived right on time and made it to deluxe theatre seating, yeah baby we talking auto recliner action. 5 min, 10 min? where's the food? The theatre was empty, I even stopped to buy candy and sent son to sit in seats because of the delivery time. 15ish minutes after our scheduled time, a nice pleasant young lady brought our order. Look, it ain't the Four Seasons, I still gave her a little tip. But still, why have 10 min increment time slots and then not adhere to them? Can't go wrong with drinks and popcorn, but you can't call that sharable pizza. It was more of a poor thin crust appetizer. Oh AMC super duper fail. I actually laughed when I took a piece, about the size of a reeces cup with a point. hilarious. Perfect for one person though. The movie was great, lots of action. Too much for me though, I had a snooze in that comfy recliner. Woke up for the talking parts and sad to see a series end, it was a good run. Overall we had a great time. Any business or public space is allowed to have mechanical problems are false alarms. And following a major hurricane, a false fire alarm in a movie theater that just reopened is not a big deal. It's all about how the movie theater handles it. After the alarm went off and everyone evacuated, the staff advised patrons that it was a false alarm. Everyone returned to the theater. But then the alarm went off again and again and again. Certainly the movie theater has a central public address system. But they did not use it. They just allowed the patrons to sit in the theater repeatedly hearing the alarm without any guidance. Finally, I got up and left the theater to go request a refund. They made me go stand outside to wait in line and get the refund, although the same customer service attendant was standing inside the building behind the counter facing the opposite direction, only three feet away. she would not turn around and help the customers inside the building, but waited for them to go outside the building and get in line. Then for the refund, instead of making it simple, folks who purchase their tickets online who could not brandish the credit card linked to their account were forced to get a gift card. There were no more than 15 customers in the entire theater complex, so issuing cash refunds would have been very simple. It would have also been ethical to offer a refund for refreshments. Even though the refreshments might have been consumed, no one in their right mind would pay $17 for a Diet Coke and package of M&M's if it were not for the privilege of eating them in a movie theater. There was no offer to provide complimentary movie passes to compensate for the inconvenience. Lastly, the theaters safety training and procedures are obviously lacking. The emergency alert announcement when the alarm went off stated that disabled people should follow instructions. There were no instructions. Also, while the alarm sounded audibly oh, there were no blinking lights on the fire alarm annunciator. A hearing-impaired person would not have known there was an alarm going off. read more

My favorite part of seeing a late movie here is how they have their one security cop stationed indoors to make sure you don't go through the safe, well lit lobby to leave but instead are shoved out the dark, sketchy side back door to traverse a dark, entry parking lot alone as a single woman. This has to be one of the best theaters I've been to. I'm not used to these fancy theaters being mainstream, regular theaters. Normally theaters like this (back in San Diego) are super expensive and for special occasions, so being able to come to a theater like this to, inexpensively, watch new movies is wonderful. The recliner seats are so incredibly comfy, the theaters are spacious and roomy, you never have heads in front of you because of how they have the rows stacked, and the concession lines move quickly. We've never had an issue with seats or drink machines not working. Another huge plus are the GREAT matinee prices!! $5 to see a movie midday?? I'll take it!! My only complaint is that I wish ushers would occasionally walk through to get people off their phones. We didn't have too big of an issue with anyone being on their phones in our aisle when we saw Frozen 2 yesterday, but The Lion King last summer was a whole different story. The woman sitting next to my husband had a full blown phone conversation for a good five minutes before finally telling the other person on the line that she was at a movie. We're passive and avoid conflict, so we really didn't feel like saying anything to her, but I've definitely Amazon'd some books on how to not be a total doormat that I'll be brushing up on for our future theater visits. Just saw Aquaman and I highly recommend it. I love this AMC, very clean, nice and friendly staff. The majority of these theaters have those super cool recliners which makes the movie experience more enjoyable and relaxing. I have been to this location as well as Elmwood's location several times and can say that the audiences are not rude and disruptive. This, to me, is the highlight of any moviegoer. Then again, I only go during the day times and I'm sure there's a difference lol. read more

I am so pleased that I ignored the Yelp 3 star rating. I had an awesome movie experience at AMC Westbank Palace 16. The theatre is super clean and has a very friendly staff. You choose your seats when you purchase the tickets so there is no rush to find a good seat. The seats are incredibly comfortable. They feel like new recliners that have extra wide armrests and you do not feel squeezed into a row of people. The movie screen was crisp and the sound system was very clear. The snack bar is impressive with a large assortment of options. They also have a full bar with comfortable social seating. Although you can order your cocktails to drink while watching your movie. read more

This theater is perfectly fine, though I may be upgrading from 3 to 4 stars for the simple fact that there is absolutely NOWHERE in this town to see movies. The only other theater anywhere near the main areas of New Orleans (i.e. the French Quarter) is the Theaters at Canal Place, which is one of those silly overpriced dine-in theaters. So if you want to go to a normal theater, and don't feel like venturing too far away from the main city, this is pretty much your only option. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the stadium seating and theaters were just as comfortable as any other chain theater. They even have a pretty sweet arcade to kill time if you are waiting around before or after the movie. It's not such a bad thing that this is the only choice for a real movie theater in New Orleans. read more

Fewer screens than the other AMC theaters. This theater is a haven for young people hanging out & as a result, so do the JP Police Dept. Not the cleanest theater. Overrun trash cans. Urine smelling theaters. Paper strewn on the floor in theaters. Ticket cost have increased, from $5 to $7.50, like overnight. Not my idea of a fun, filled movie going experience. The Westbank theater offers recliner seating. That's the highlight, really, and it is legitimately more comfortable, though you really have to mash the buttons a bit to make it work. It's pretty sizable and has some movies that don't show everywhere. Parking is free out here, and there's plenty enough other things in the area to motivate the non-local to make the occasional trip across the river. The seats are assigned, which has positives and negatives. It mostly irks me, though I think in crowded movies it's nice to be able to reserve in advance. That being said, if it was a big premiere I'd want to find a nicer IMAX theater, and for smaller indie films I stay in the city, so this place fills a small niche for me. read more

Sure, we got there 10 minutes before the trailers started (not my fault). So, there were only 2 seats left. Got to the seats just in time. Buttttt, the reclining seats didn't recline. That's fine for me, but apparently my date couldn't live with that so she went back, got some high school aged employees to try and fix it (while the trailers were playing). That didn't work, so they suggested going back to the front and getting other seats. My date was upset they didn't care for it, so back we went to talk to the manager. He ended up giving us the handicapped seats in the middle. Got back in time for the start of the movie. My seat reclined, but wouldn't stay reclined (I kept that quiet). Anyway, the movie sound and visual was good. The theatre price was ok. read more

Those moviegoers who are alone with the XL tub of popcorn...that's me! I LOVE the movies, especially as a solo outing, so when I saw AMC Westbank upgraded their seats, I was very pleased. The large, leather, fully reclining seats are usually only available at "luxury" theaters but AMC has brought luxury to us at an affordable price. I love that you choose your seats when purchasing tickets, so if you like to skip the previews (not me), you won't have the issue of missing out on good seats. Also, the theater and seats are clean and spacious. Snackage: Their food selection has also been upgraded. Gourmet popcorn options (butter, cheese, caramel, mix&match), exotic soda/slushie flavors, and can't forget the BAR! The bar isn't new and I believe its only open for evening showtimes. read more

Meh, it's the only convenient movie theater on the Westbank. For some reason there appears to be tons of teenagers hanging around this movie theater which is quite annoying. There are machines out front so you don't have to stand in line. Now I'm not sure if the listing was wrong on Flickster or I was just too late to catch the show but the 9:10pm showing didn't pop up on the screen so I had to wait for the next showing of the movie. That was annoying because it was a late night Saturday movie but whatever. I must say that the clientele who frequent his movie theater are a little obnoxious. One woman in front of me had her feet up on top of the chair and was on her phone even after the lights went down. Seriously? This is my least favorite AMC movie theater. read more

This was only my 2nd visit to this particular theatre. I had arranged to meet a friend elsewhere (The Prytania) only to discover we were mistaken and the movie we chose wasn't playing there so we made swift adjustments to come here instead and I'm glad we did. We were pleasantly surprised to find our movie Bohemian Rhapsody was being played in one of the small theatres with the reserved reclining seats and since it was small and intimate we felt like we were in a private screening room more so than a local large theatre chain. It was a very nice experience, staff was friendly, there was plenty of parking and the theatre as well as lobby and public areas were extremely clean. read more

Bucking the trend, baby! I strongly suspect my feelings about this theater are influenced by the show I was here to see. Saturday at noon found me watching the Met's Live in HD theater showing of Das Rheingold...yes! There are perks at this theater: cushy seats with arm rests that go up. Fast concessions. Good box office staff. Lots of that fake butter stuff. Doors tucked away from the screen so people can duck out without making the entire theater light up. Oh, and they participate in the Live in HD opera program! The lobby is covered in signs about children, teenagers, and the parental supervision requirements which is nice. But there weren't any children at the theater when I was there so I wouldn't know if the signs are empty threats. I will note that my concession worker was a little thick and looked at me like I was a moron when I asked for butter. (Sorry, lady. I don't have ESP.) Otherwise, I loved the theater. I'll be back for future broadcasts, and it's nice that I can take the bus to this theater from New Orleans. Accessibility notes: Fully accessible for mobility devices. Some movies are captioned. They're just shaped weird and my unbendable back can't adapt to them. Cops are always outside keeping an eye on things, but there are still a good number of teenagers that lurk around on weekends. Like previous reviews have mentioned, this is the only theater on the Westbank now. Sad. When I was but a eager and innocent child running around on the Westbank in the 70s and 80s there was six theaters that I can think of quickly. Not counting drive ins. But I digress.... It is typical of the theaters now, stadium seating , gigantic screens, over prices snacks, sticky floors and uncomfortable seats. Nice sound systems though. Police presence is there. read more

We got off of our cruise ship and figured we would use our AMC A-List here since it is an AMC Prime theater. WOW - the sound and video quality of AMC Prime is amazing! The popcorn and soda both tasted good - much like every other AMC theater I have been to. The lines were fast and this location actually had their A-List/Premiere priority line setup, so I was in and out of the concession area lickity-split. Oh wow the upgrades! This theatre used to be known as The Big Stinky in my circle. AMC has done a great job with changing this stigma. The seats: Plush recliners and depending on your zone it will have built-in tumblers interacting with movie. One can even customize the recliner to only foot support or leaning back to a certain angle. Order ahead via the app and reserve the perfect seat. The Big Screen: I needed this. There standard viewing is actually so good upgrading isn't necessary to have an awesome experience. However, their Real 3D and IMAX Screens were like WHOA! I tried Peter Rabbit in 3D and it felt like I was riding with the bouncing rabbits as the tumblers activated in my seat. The MacGuffin's Bar: If you've read my Barfly reviews you know I love my Long Island Ice Teas. It was a great addition to the viewing. Full bar and top shelf spirits! read more
