If you time it right, you'll be treated to the beautiful bells of St. Mary's Catholic Church chiming out the hour. Take a stroll across the covered pedestrian bridge. It is screened and fenced in so safe for all. Bicycles can be walled across. When the river is running fast you can stand in the middle of the bridge and get your brave on! Its exciting. The park features plenty of trees for shade, restrooms, playground equipment and picnic tables.

Toledo has a multitude of interesting trails for biking, walking, blading, running, etc…read more Although, albeit to a lesser extent, the Parks University Trail does the same thing, the CCT is more than just a nature trail...it traverses several different environment types. There are sections that are wooded, and there are sections that are abutting people's backyards. Certain sections go along, or crossover, some of Toledo's major thoroughfares. Some of the more interesting areas pass through some of the de-industrialized parts of town. Several major parks, such as Ottawa Park, are abutted and/or traversed. The campuses for both MCO (uh, UTMC) and UT (main campus and Scott Park) are included. The southernmost terminus is at the Maumee River. It's at the site of an old railway bridge that has since been demolished. Certain parts of the bridge, such as the turntable gears, are on display at this end of the trail. The northern terminus is near Bowman Park in West/North Toledo. If you're into casual biking/hiking, or you're just interested in taking a leisurely stroll, you'll find that this trail provides an awesome addition to Toledo's repertoire of outdoor activities. 5 stars!

We drove up for the Martina McBride show Friday night and were able to park for $5 a few blocks…read moreaway. It is an interesting (in a good way) venue for a concert - it's pretty large and there are different levels on which to sit (if you bring chairs or blankets). The stage was set up by the river and there was a large screen on a building at street level so everyone could enjoy the show if you didn't have a prize spot. We actually planted our chairs close to the stage, but were not able to see the acts well. The video screen was in perfect view though. The street level part of the park has extra seating and many people put their chairs and blankets down on the grass there. They weren't close to the stage, but again, the screen provided a great view of the show. There were some minor annoyances that I don't think were the venue's responsibilites (lack of porta potties and too few & underequipped food trucks). The event seemed well-organized at the gates and with beer & alcohol sales. Security was walking around assisting with seating (those who put chairs in walkways were politely told why they couldn't sit there). I would return for a concert. It was a fun time, being a beautiful night in downtown Toledo, with boats on the river.

I was magnet fishing the far right side of the beach with my brother…read morewhen their were rocks being thrown out of the woods from that back right corner I would say about 4 the size of an apple one landed next to the far right buoy after we seen it fly from out of the woods this all happen at 8:00 pm. These weren't little splashes it looked like a cannon ball hitting the water and I have herd stories of the north west corner being haunted by a little girl who was killed. Miraculously, we were in the same spot of other numerous reports.

Harrison Lake State Park was a great place for our family to get together for a reunion. We had a…read moregreat time visiting every playground at the park (there are 6!). Each had its merits, but the group vote for the favorite was the playground across from the volleyball and basketball courts. Some of the playgrounds had retro equipment, which we liked, but the seats were very low and sometimes squeaky. The climbers and bouncers were a hit and the young ones raced to be the first to try them. We even awarded special stickers to anyone in our group who visited all six playgrounds. Finding the geocache and hiking the trails, playing disc golf, doing archery---it was all a great time!

A bridge provides access to a little island with a beach, which also has nearby swings and picnic tables. A nice large shelter with more tables and a great playground with slides, swings, climbing structures, and towers is located near clean restroom facilities. We saw a number of boats out enjoying the water and folks doing some fishing. Camping sites are available, as is a dog beach.

Well maintained park with plenty of equipment that kids of all ages can climb on, jump on, scramble…read moreunder and slide down. There's a small climbing wall, monkey bars and a couple of different kinds of swings. There's also room to walk and romp with four-legged friends. A fun place, even on a cold, windy day. When we first pulled up to the site there was a gaggle of historical reenactors dressed in…read moreuncomfortable woolen outfits holding muskets. They gotta be crazy about this place. Me, I thought it was pretty meh. My brother-in-law said his daughters were pretty salty about a former ice rink getting turned into the museum here and from the vast amount of empty space on one side you can tell they were light on material and/or budget. The model of the fort was probably my favorite part but that only takes five or ten minutes tops. There is a number of very mediocre nature murals and models of period dwellings sometimes with cheap mannequins hanging out. It doesn't take long for a walkthrough. This place isn't exactly Greenfield Village. My brother-in-law got the attendants to give us a special screening of a short documentary made about the big battle of the War of 1812 that took place here. It was decent and this outing would have felt really underwhelming without it. I don't know what the usual schedule and criteria for screenings is. Not much of a national park as evidenced by the modest gift shop selling merchandise for larger and more well known national parks. The field itself is just that, a big ol field without so much as a hiking trail with historical markers. I'm glad we were able to pair this with the Michigan Museum of Horror for our Monroe expedition as I don't know if either, this especially, was worth the trip alone.

Visited years ago before they redid the Visitor Center- WOW- What a difference, they really outdid…read morethemselves with the displays, and the size of the museum. It is definitely a good place to take the Family on a hot or rainy day. It has a lot of space full of well done exhibits. We especially loved it as it ties in with our recent visit to Voyageurs National Park.
