Just being open around 4 months, the place was recommended to me by my Cardiff friends, and was an ideal place for our large group to meet on a Saturday afternoon. The shop located on a corner with massive windows providing a good place to people watch and enjoy views outside. It is very minimalistic yet very spacious with a large array of vintage furniture which gives it an "established" feel despite being a young coffee shop. I was very impressed with that Little Man are very proud to feature at least two roasters at all times. This day I had a soy latte using coaltown espresso blend and a v60 using the wonderful James Gourmet Coffee from the very knowledgeable staff. I saw Aeropress, Chemex and V60 on offer.. I didn't get a chance to peak at the cakes or if they had a menu but I was very curious to see how they can use this huge space for events in future. Such a great Coffee shop with much potential!

I went straight for their own cold brew coffee (that comes in a lovely little bottle) which was excellent, nice and mellow, leaving me refreshed and suitably caffeinated. I'd expect the hot drinks match the quality. I wish I'd had a little more time to be able to settle in or go back, seems a good place to set up for a few hours, and when I left I wished I could take it back home with me to do just that! I suspect that if I had more of a chance to try everything they have this would get 5 stars.

This is probably my favourite bar in Cardiff bay…read more One of the reasons for this is because most people do not regard it as a bar (more a coffee shop) and it is therefore never over run unlike the bars over the other side of the bay like Salt and Terra Nova. Sitting inside is very pleasant as are the staff, especially the manager, who I think i called Hugo but to me its big selling point is its outside area. It over looks the oval basin and faces the sun. I have spent many a summer day having a few cheeky ones chatting away whilst the sun goes into the bay. So if this isn't your bag - stay away (that way there is more room for the rest of us who do).

Of course I chose the veggie options which included Garlic Mushrooms, Mediterranean vegetables and feta in oil and a good stack of pitta. It was yummy, not exactly mind blowing but really tasty. What does make this place unique is the fantastic view over the bay, so essentially that's what your paying for with your £7 glass of champagne and limited tapas menu. It was worth a visit but it's not the kind of place I'd go regularly.

Dough is a real treat. Smack bang in the middle of student town (there was a good business…read moredecision), it offers a huge range of sandwiches, baguettes, salad boxes and drinks. The veritable smorgasbord of fillings will probably mean you stand there for about 20 minutes trying to decide what to order. My advice is just order everything. Although it's not a big place, there is obviously a busy kitchen and it does its best to turn out some excellent home-made cakes and pastries to satisfy any sweet tooth. Beware; in term time Dough gets incredibly busy. The queues outside and round the block would suggest they're selling something other than sandwiches, but maybe it's just testament to how tasty the food is (or how hungry the students are). It's also worth a visit just to see how many girls can fit behind a counter and make baguettes at the same time. There seemed to be hundreds last time... It's inexpensive, tasty and only a ten minute walk from Bute park. What are you waiting for?

They offer bagels, paninis, toasties, baguettes and jacket potatoes with a good choice of fillings, including classics such as brie and cranberry, plus mixed salads. For afters, there are some sweet treats such as their delicious flapjacks coated in thick chocolate. Considering the small size of the café, they have a decent amount of outdoor seating where you can sit in the sun on a fine day and watch the students milling around.

And then you remember that place that you haven't been to in so long, that you really liked all the way back when. This is one of those places (I hope no one's coming to come along and tell me that it's shut now because I really want to visit it again). Let me see if I can remember to what it was like... Oh, yes, it was lovely. The staff were absolutely fantastic, really friendly and up for a little bit of banter. The atmosphere was great, nice and relaxed but not completely slobbish. Tasty and delicious food to fill up your stomachs and addictive cravings. I've had a creamy, bubbly milkshake and free, fresh tap water before. They do wonderful toasty sandwiches and Panini's. They also do lovely chocolate cakes; Ice Cream, cheesecakes and carrot cakes. Often under £10's each. It can get very busy sometimes, but they are pretty quick with their waitressing skills. It is a cosy cafe, perfect for lunch or afternoon tea. The staff are friendly enough and quick to give you what you wish. I love going there, as it is a place full of tranquillity atmosphere suitable for all adults and maybe for some children. It is not really a wheel chair, or a baby pushchair accessible place.

As a grown up, this is one of my favourite spots in town, it's like a quiet little sanctuary on one of the busiest/worst streets in Cardiff. There's a really huge selection of booze but the drinks aren't really that amazing. My friend who is a superstar bartender had little things to gripe about. They didn't give him enough gin, his tonic was lukewarm and there were spelling mistakes on the boards above the bar. None of that really matters though because the environment is so wonderful and almost indescribably relaxed. The best seat in the house is the one next to the window because you can look out on to St Mary Street at 1am and see the absolute horror show that is Cardiff on a Friday/Saturday night. Mocking is always better when done from a safe distance.

It's fairly plush inside and pretty small, being above Floyd Clothing on High Street. The first thing that struck me was the impressively stocked bar. They've got over 250 spirits on show here and a pretty large selection of European beers too. They also do cocktails but the prices scared me off. It isn't cheap to drink here that's for sure. What I like about Floyd's mainly is the secrecy and exclusivity of the place. It does get busy but then it is only very small. 50 people would pack the place out to be honest. I've normally gone up the stairs, taken one look at how busy the place is and left. When there is a bit of room though it's one of the best places in Cardiff. You get the impression that most people don't even know it exists. If you're looking for cheap drinks, loud music and dancing, you should probably avoid Floyd's. If you want to sit down, relax and chat or meet up before a night out, you definitely have to give it a try.
