Check in was very fast and we sat down, then within a couple of minutes it was our turn. We had to get transfer of title and registration from items owned by a deceased family member. The whole visit was very smooth. We brought in all of the documents we needed and the clerk was very helpful and very nice. She even went beyond the norm and gave us some helpful tips for another task we have to come back for in the future when the time comes. If I lived closer, I would visit this location again.

The rep had issues he came over and told me I'm only getting a title with a surety bond. The car qualifies for a tr-205 because it's under 2500 in value and 10 years old. I stated that the manage James says I'm not taking that without a bond because he didn't feel comfortable. And doesn't believe I owned the car. I informed him I was recording he's stating he doesn't believe I own the $1000 car and he's not taking the Form that he gave me when I pointed out the Tr-205 form states that anything 10 years or older doesn't require a surety bond he's says well I'm not submitting the form

I will say, it went a lot better than expected and the staff moved quickly with efficiency. lobby area is clean, staff is friendly and the lady that helped me was awesome. The location isn't huge, but was nice and seemed to be in good working order. They want you to check in but to be honest, there wasn't anyone at the booth when you came in, and no signs telling me where else to go. I figured this out after I saw another guy go to the window off in the corner and check in there. My appointment was for 5:40, but didn't get to the counter until about 5:50. They did tell me to arrive 10 minutes prior to my appointment, so I got there at 5:30. Probably one of the better experiences I've had. Not sure if the state of Michigan's gotten better or this locations just awesome, but after about 40 plus minutes, I was done. Once I was at the counter it was smooth sailing.

After two hours I came back and all the employees I had seen earlier appeared to be at lunch because there was only one poor girl calling people up to the window and they were ALL reserved appointments. A lady sitting next to me sighed that her number was next to be called; it had been for the last 45 minutes. If you have time to wait around, you're better off driving to St. Charles. They do get the job done once you are actually helped and get processes going fairly quick. Located at the secondary complex, 7064 Crowner Dr. in Lansing, a gentleman named Mr. Marco was my assistant. He went above and beyond to help me resolve a matter. For once, someone at the Secretary of State office showed intelligence, empathy, and compassion toward customers. He was patient, didn't get irritated, and listened to my explanation. He considered my reasoning, found a solution, and resolved the matter simply because he wasn't afraid to do his job. He wanted to help, and he's definitely the type of employee who deserves recognition for outstanding service. If only the Secretary of State had more dedicated employees like Mr. Marco, the office would be a much more pleasant place for business. Thanks again, Marco.

I walked in, and grabbed a number. Grabbing a number at an SOS office is always a terrible thing. You sit there with this slip in your hand, waiting to be called as if I'm buying deli meat. However, I only ended up waiting about 5 minutes. The woman who helped me was very nice and we ended up joking around by the time it was over. If I had to rate my new photo, I'd give it a 1 star. My face looks terrible in two-dimensions. Still, not their fault, more my parents' fault. One big thing: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT VISA! I should call Morgan Freeman to fix that. They have an ATM that charges $2 if you don't have MasterCard or AmericanExpress. All in all, I'm perfectly happy to drive an extra 45 minutes through the pleasantness of Romeo to get my Sec of State on than have to deal with the stereotypical SOS offices near me.
