It was my birthday and Angela B. and I were on an adventure and day of fun in the Burgh and here to visit moggies. Yay! I found it no problem and it misses out the messy bypass and all that. Through some roundabouts, clearly signed and boom car park in sight. Spaces not a problem and the terminal was directly across from where we had parked. I had done a wee bit research and knew to purchase a Dayticket at £3.50 and this would cover Lothian buses and trams, which we were travelling on later. It was a brilliant deal and we used it well. I'm glad I knew about it as the guy in behind the counter wasn't exactly a bag of fun. Oooft! Anyway we eventually found out what buses we could get, either a 25 or 34 takes you straight into the town centre. We didn't have long to wait as the buses are really frequent and we found the same later on in the evening, no problem getting back. The only thing which would be cool, would to have it closer to the Hermiston Gait Retail Park, that's a no go for park and ride, again I did my research. The bus route is a wee walk from retail park too. Apart from that, it's an excellent service and I would highly recommend as an alternative way to the Burgh.

With the entrance located in an alleyway down the side of an office block, it is not the easiest car park to navigate. There are no signs pointing you toward it and you will have to do a lot of circling round. It is never really that busy, but all the spaces on the upper levels (closer to the street) seem to be taken every time we come in, forcing us to go down deeper into the bowels of this dungeon to find a space. On the very bottom level (-4) you will always find a space since not many people seem to use this car park. Try and get near the lifts if you can as the car park goes on for miles and you could easily get lost. The lifts in the top left hand corner take you to the footbridge that leads to John Lewis, the middle lifts bring you out at Leith Street and the furthest away lifts take you to the back of the Omni Centre. Once you get to the surface, you will need to hold your token against the sensor for 5 seconds in order to unlock the door to get out. Sometimes the sensor is broken and the door will be left open but it honestly feels safer with the door locked, as no dodgy people can get in. The car park is really creepy though because of how deserted it always is and I always feel quite spooked out every time we have to walk through it. The layout is better than the NCP across the street and is more logical to navigate, whereas in St James, you will be stuck on a floor if there are no spaces and a car comes up because of the badly designed two way system and narrow roads. But apart from the spookiness, the confusing lift arrangement and the prices, it is a safe place to park and you won't have to worry about your car while you are shopping.

I used this car park for around 3 days, during my trip to Edinburgh, as the car park was close to the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton, where I was staying during my time in the city, and also offers a discount of 20% for guests at the hotel with rates ranging from £8.50 for up to three hours and £22 for each 24 hour period, before any discounts. PRO TIP: If you're dropping someone off at the train station, you have enough time to drop them off, and get a quick coffee, as long as you keep your stay under 40 minutes, you won't pay a thing, but if you exceed the 40-minute window, you'll have to pay the 3-hour tariff, which is a huge jump. At the time of writing, this is £8.50 The location of the car park is good for the train station and most of the city's central attractions, the parking is expensive but nothing out of the ordinary for any city centre, it is actually cheaper to park here compared to parking at St James Quarter, but there are fewer tariffs available. I did not notice any staff around the car park, and the office never seemed to be open during daytime hours, nothing too exciting/modern inside the car park, pretty much an average car park really. The impressive Kelpies are well worth the hype. There are several free parking options along the…read moreway. But if you want to get as close as possible, then this carpark it the best option. Fixed price of 3.50£ was a very fair deal, especially since the Kelpies, the grounds and the Helix Park are all free to visit. Overnight parking is possible (costs more though) and there is plenty of space on this carpark. Also chargers for EVs. The spaces are quite big, not problem for bigger vehicles. From here it's only a short walk to the massive Kelpies. Free toilets on the way as well. There's a shuttle as well, in case walking is not an option.

Hermits Croft car park is a car park consisting of 2 parts. During daylight hours it has an…read moreattendant and you can park on one side of the car park. The other side is operated by JustPark, allowing booking and easy parking for multiple days. Although the underground is partly unpaved, partly old asfalt, the place is easily accessible, safe and centrally located for that side of town.

Came for the Dunfermline Abbey and the Tomb of King Robert the Bruce…read more This was the closest parking lot. Suprisingly with a lot spaces left. It's Pay & Display - or you could pay by app (which didn't work with my Swiss Mastercard). Fees were fair. The Abbey is really just around the corner. So it's a great location. Also great to explore the wonderful parkland which is just next to the Abbey. All in all a fine place to park your car. Easy and safe.
