I've always struggled with math. I've never had a good math teacher nor have I ever had a good math tutor. Until I found Jennifer. She has helped me pass three college level math courses that I would have failed without her help. One of my biggest problems I have is with organization. Believe it or not that is very important when it comes to passing any class. Before going to Seeds of Knowledge tutoring I would simply just throw papers in my old folder in an unorganized fashion. The first day I worked with Jennifer she helped me organize a binder (for her tutoring sessions as well as my class) and I've been much better at keeping things organized ever since. Jennifer is very organized and professional. I love that she always knew what type of classwork I would bring to her sessions every week and she would even do her own research sometimes to better help me understand the material better. She is very caring and understanding to her students. It seems like a little gesture, but one of the most memorable experiences I had with Jennifer was a time when we were both struggling to understand a problem on a final exam review. We tried to work on the problem for over a half an hour and at the end of the session she felt sorry that we weren't able to work out the problem and she offered to research it and work it out so that she would be better prepared and offered me a free session the following week because we spent much time on one problem. I'll always appreciate the help I received from Jennifer. She is also very knowledgeable and can help your child with almost any subject! As for the extremely negative review that's on this page, whether blackmail or not, I'm very sorry that they did not have a pleasant experience with Jennifer because I absolutely enjoyed my time with her. For future clients reading that review: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Respect others and they will respect you. I had many times I had to cancel and Jennifer was always kind and considerate when it came to rescheduling. She schedules time out of her day to help her clients so of course canceling at the last minute or not showing up is very disrespectful and almost everyone should agree with that and understand why it would be upsetting. I have been working with Jen for over a year and a half now. She raised my SAT scores 300 points! I am now tutoring with her to help me prepare for college. She is organized, professional, and tenacious. She has always gone out of her way to make sure that I am achieving my goals and learning all that I can. I love her passion for education and her understanding of material. She knows how to cater to every individual's wants and needs. I personally learn best with color coding and visuals. We chose to work with Jennifer because of her Montessori background. Our son is 6yrs. old and in 1st grade. He has an amazing vocabulary and imagination but absolutely no interest in school. Jennifer is able to keep him focused without curbing his creativity. She is currently working with him on sight words, math, reading and writting. We meet with her twice a week for an hour and a half after school. Jennifer makes each session unique, using different materials and methods to suit his style of learning. Right off the bat, I knew that I was being tutored by an individual who was very knowledgeable, understanding, organized, and patient. I was happy to have found Jennifer to help with the math section of the General Knowledge Test for Elementary Education. I have previously had other tutors that did not have the knowledge of how the test worked. Jennifer helped me learn concepts in Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Probability, Percentages, and much more! We are absolutely thrilled with the tutoring experience our son got with Jennifer in preparing for the SAT. His score increased 400 points! Jen has been helping me with tutoring for the GMAT. She's one of the best tutors I've ever had! She broke down the test for me and I'm seriously seeing major improvements when I study and in my test taking abilities. My son, Ryan, is 22 years old and has a learning disorder. I hired Jennifer Young from Seeds of Knowledge to tutor Ryan on the DMV handbook in preparation for the written DMV test. Jennifer was very patient and came up with some creative teaching methods such as drawing out certain traffic situations and using a vocabulary list to learn and understand DMV terms. I came to Jennifer to get my SAT score up in a short period of time. She was flexible enough to work with my busy schedule and was a phenomenal tutor. Jennifer has been amazing in tutoring our son in Math this summer, as well as last summer. Mike feels she has great methods of teaching that make the knowledge stick. He has learned so much and is very prepared when he returns to his college prep boarding school in the Fall. We will use her for ACT and SAT tutoring due to her excellent teaching methods.
