The window cleaner provided used filthy water and dirty tools to do the job. I offered him clean hot water three times but he declined it. I offered him a new packet of jay cloths which he eventually used for a bit of the job. While he was here I phoned the Selclene office to tell someone and ask what I should do. They said to speak to him about it. I don't like confrontation and this made me feel very apprehensive. He was up his ladder with his earphones in, so I spoke to him when he was down from the ladder - I felt I couldn't interrupt him while he was up there because he wouldn't hear me. I was sure it wasn't right to use dirty water to clean the windows. When he was down again I pointed out that all his tools and water were far too dirty and had been like that since he arrived. Brown sludge had been coming out and dripping on the white PVC. He told me that it didn't matter that the water was dirty, he always uses it like that, and he offered to show me how it worked on a lower window - I said no thank you. I couldn't believe it. I said I wasn't happy but he said he "had to go now". I HATE having to complain. The Selclene office now say I should have insisted he do the job again properly and I should have refused to pay him. I am not a weak person but I did not like the position I had been put in. What if I had been an old lady? Would they have said that to me? They say there is nothing they can do. No refund. They said they could arrange for another window cleaner to come and do the job properly but I would have to pay for it. No thank you, I have already wasted £50. read more
