I've been to a number of physical therapy clinics over the years and COLPT is by the best and most pleasurable and effective. My orthopedist referred me here to treat a couple of horribly painful tears in my left shoulder muscles. He felt physical therapy would be more effective to promote healing than surgery.--and he was right. The pain level has been greatly reduced and my range of motion is far greater than it was at the outset after just a few weeks of therapy. This is my second course of physical therapy here. Both times I've been lucky enough to work with Liz. This time I've also had the pleasure of working with Eric. The in-clinic therapy consists of exercises to stretch and strengthen the poor injured muscles, and manual manipulation and massage of the muscles when they're riled up and causing pain. I've also been given a home course of stretching and strengthening exercises. It's the the home program that is enabling me to achieve my rapid progress towards healing that miscreant shoulder. As for the facility itself, everyone is very warm and friendly and, with a few of them, very funny. I love a fun repartee with office staff because it also helps to humanize the place, which helps to make feel at home. Liz is a kick because she shares her personality with her patients and her personality is delightful. And she is an excellent P.T. Eric is also excellent, and I'm very lucky to be paired up with him. Also very warm and friendly, his treatments and exercise regimen have been equally effective as Liz's. In fact, they work seamlessly together so that no matter which therapist I'm working with on a given day, it's all the same program. Theclinic itself is about medium-sized with all the latest rehabilitation/exercise machines and exercise balls and handheld equipment. i consider myself very lucky to have a P.T. clinic of this quality and high effectiveness here in Port Orchard. I made my appointment a month in advance, was referred to them by my primary care physician...so they knew my insurance details. I drive all they way over to them, and as I'm parking they call me to tell me they don't take my insurance, then try to convince me that I can self-pay. Either incompetence or simply not caring enough about their patient's financial situation, not sure - but I definitely wouldn't recommend them. read more

It seems there is an occupational therapist who does charge a lot and really doesn't help. Having issues that needed a very and I use that term loosely experienced therapist that my doctor thought would help was a complete waste of time. For a 20 minute session at $500:00 you'd think would do more. I could have done the same at home. First of all let me start off stating the physical therapists there are great! I loved working with Sara. It's the front of the house and scheduling that made me fire this practice. The receptionist scheduled my appointments without even spending 3 seconds asking if I have conflicting days. She hands me a schedule and says this is when you'll come in. More than half the dates conflicts with other appointments. They say they do this because the schedule fills up fast, and you can reschedule those days. Ummm... if they have a full schedule how can they re-schedule? It was out of pure laziness and zero consideration to the client. Trying to reschedule the first out of 8 conflicting appointments (8 out of 14 total appointment) she decided without consulting me, was a nightmare to attempt to re-book. When I confronted her on this fact and that I am not jumping through a thousand hoops to get an appointment that works, she became rude. Furthermore, she had me coming in different days, times, without rhyme or reason. She scheduled me with quite a few different PT providers which inhibits progress as a PT gets to know your strength/weaknesses as you continue to work with them. This is akin to visiting a different primary care doctor for every appointment for a medical condition, you can't develop a patient/therapist relationship for the best outcome. I finally gave up, and found another PT practice that was able to efficiently schedule me and with consideration to the clients needs. I was treated more like an employee than a client by this woman. My doctor sent a new referral to another practice and this practice will not receive any endorsements from me. This manner of scheduling is lazy and only serves the receptionist. I was looking forward to physical therapy to fix my body after a bad accident, and after dealing with her, I have lost all enthusiasm. As long as that's how they schedule 2 months of your life (or more) like you're their employees instead of a paying client with a life & responsibilities, I'll never recommend them. They need to clean the front of the house with more considerate staff. read more

Both my son and I had Physical Therapy with Melissa and her team. I was dealing with a unique set of circumstances and Melissa listened to my concerns and was able to help get my lymph system moving again and my breathing techniques. My son saw Melissa for his dislocated knee and he loves going in the office because of the healing he saw and the caring attitude there. I also can't say enough about the front desk associates. After a lot of research, doctor's appointments and tests for a condition I have, I finally found a visceral massage therapist locally and asked my doc for a referral. The first impression of the office staff almost turned me back to my search, as they arbitrarily cancelled my initial appointment without letting me know due to the fact that they had not received the referral from the doctor. This in itself made absolutely no sense to me, because had they called to let me know they had not yet received it, I would have just paid for the visit, out of pocket and got reimbursement from my insurance company... I was that desperate for care and relief. If I had not called to confirm the time, I would have driven 20 minutes to the appointment to find out it had been cancelled. Fast forward through about 9 weeks of ongoing, weekly therapy, my symptoms had mostly resolved, and since I was going on an extended trip abroad, the therapist and I discussed my discharge with some instructions for techniques I could use on my own. This was all well and good, and worked great for about 2 or so years. But recently I began having the symptoms again, and asked my doc for another referral which she was happy to give. I started appointments and started seeing results right away, but again experienced unprofessional administrative practice- this time, my appointment was cancelled and I did not find out until I arrived for it- again, no one called and told me. To their credit, the staff was accountable and apologized, and said they had an opening in "30 minutes". Well, over an hour later I was finally called back for the therapy. I wish I could say this was the end of it- my last appointment was scheduled as the first of the day, and I was early, as I typically am. I paid my co-pay and was overcharged, so I had to ask for a refund of the $50 difference. I was brought back into the private room at the correct time, but there I sat... 5 minutes... 10 minutes... and then at 15 minutes, I put my shoes and coat on and walked out. The receptionist saw me coming and told me that Melissa, the therapist would be back with me soon. I said, "Sorry, I'm leaving and I want the rest of my co-pay refunded." At that time, Melissa came out of another space and instead of apologizing for being so late, she just said she had to deal with an emergency. To which I replied, "I believe my time is just as valuable as yours, and I also believe that your treatment of me was disrespectful- someone should have come to tell me about your delay- based on my past experiences with you, its obvious I'm pretty patient, but this experience crossed a line and I'd like to reschedule this appointment". She tried to talk over me several times, which just made me feel even more disrespected. Next thing I know, the following week, I get a notice from my doc that Melissa ended my care. So, not only does their administrative staff need more training, but the owner needs to remember that as a customer, I did not deserve that kind of treatment. I would rather travel to Seattle for the kind of treatment that she gave me clinically, so I don't have to experience the treatment she and her staff gave me (non)-professionally. read more

COLPT specializes in treating lymphedema and has given me the ability to wear regular shoes again that I have not worn in years. I can give my highest recommendation as both a (retired) physician and a patient; as a physician this facility was the first choice go-to referral center for my patients, and as a patient I have previously undergone shoulder rehabilitation and just recently knee therapy following joint replacement. They deliver prompt and excellent service. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful, the facility is clean and modern, and all of the therapists are first class/exceptional. The facility is privately owned and run, not managed by a hospital or other larger organization. The owner/therapist is free to deliver care as to her own business model, and she has a personal interest in seeing that only the best of care is delivered. You will not find a better organization for your therapy needs read more

I was referred to COLPT by my primary care provider and just completed my treatments. From my first visit to the last, each person I encountered was helpful, kind and professional. Nora put me at ease to discuss my personal health issue and helped me understand how to improve my condition. She gave me reasonable and useful exercises to practice at home, both during my treatment period and going forward so I can continue to improve. I just completed therapy for vertigo. I've been suffering from vertigo for 3 years and thought I'd have to deal with the nausea that it produced for the rest of my life. I've had to limit my time out of bed because the nausea could be so bad I'd throw up! So to come here and with eye exercises and neck strengthening that they taught me I can now be up and about for as long as I want! I'm paraplegic so life has its challenges, but now vertigo isn't one! Thanks to Mary, my therapist! The office staff are so courteous and helpful. I've never been to an office that is so well run! The best PT I've received after breast cancer diagnosis. I started with frozen shoulder and was 4 weeks post diep-flap surgery. Melissa is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate and good at her job. Diagnosed the lymphedema that the doctor's had ignored and I have almost full motion in my arm after 8 weeks of PT. I know what I can do at home to continue to heal and recover. I just completed several weeks of PT dealing with lower back pain ... something that might be expected for an ol' guy like me. I am so pleased/amazed at how much improvement I've experienced ... so thankful. I've tried PT before but the previous approach was too generalized to be of much help. This team is amazing from when you first walk in the door to the analytical and focused therapeutic approach they took with me. Dr. Samantha was my primary therapist ... wise, intelligent, relational, focused. I also received treatment from Neal and Stacy who continued the same focus and atmosphere. I was especially impressed with their focus on my specific problems, keeping session by session records. It kept the therapy focused and created a consistent, step-by-step process. I've been to a lot of physical therapy in my 50+ years and I have never received better treatment than what I found at COLPT. I got one dedicated therapist (Melissa) who treated my specific needs and provided such knowledgeable care that I've now seen her for multiple ailments. I got nothing but compassion from Melissa and her staff! Melissa even went so far as to write letters on my behalf when my doctor was resistant to prescribing a necessary brace. She absolutely goes above and beyond to advocate for your needs. I initially saw Melissa when I tore my ACL. I didn't want surgery and she helped me build enough strength to continue working, running, hiking, and just living life. Eventually I had to have ACL reconstruction, and due to a fracture on the ball of the femur I had been immobile for 4 months before I could start PT. Everything was atrophied and shriveled up. I thought for sure I'd never "get back to normal", BUT with a ton of work and lots of emotional encouragement, Melissa put me back together! So naturally, when it came time to finally replace the knee... I went right back to Melissa! Recovery from total knee replacement is NO JOKE, I even had a complete nervous breakdown in the middle of her office! Melissa let me cry, asked how she could help, and together we got me back to sane AND ambulatory! I would not have the range of motion, healthy gait, or confidence to use my knee if it weren't for Melissa. I have referred both friends and family to see her and will continue to sing her praises. I do not think there is a more dedicated PT in all the world, but certainly not in Kitsap County. Thank you Melissa! I went hiking yesterday and didn't even think about my knee, not once. read more

Great team for physical therapy during and after cancer treatment. I learned all I never wanted to know about lymphedema; including how to manage it and still do the activities I enjoy. This is my second round of physical therapy with COLPT! I had such FABULOUS results with my right shoulder that I returned for my left shoulder (totally different problem). The clinic is professional, clean and friendly during every interaction and from everyone on staff! I've been to the meat market PT clinics and I've been to another privately owned clinic (such as COLPT) - but Melissa and her staff is head and shoulders (pun intended) above them all! Horrible on the financial/cost practices!!! They over charged me in January 2018 and I still haven't received my refund - its now April. I've called and spoken to the office manager once. She assured me that I would be reimbursed after 3 months. Interesting that it takes them 3 months, you have to pay at the time of service.....something smells fishy here. read more
