However, for…read morethe next visit, I was placed in the general exercise room where the therapist was seeing two other patients besides me for the entire hour I was there. This lead to frequent times where I finished my exercises and had to wait for the therapist to finish with other patients. I am reasonably confident that each patient being seen is being billed out at the full rate for the hour. Highline PT is part of a 250 clinic operation and they are in turn owned by an investment company, so maximizing revenue per patient is undoubtedly a desired outcome. Sad state of health care in America.

You're just kind of rushed through and they go through the motions with you to ensure all their boxes are ticked so it appears like on paper they did their due diligence for your medical needs. My experience was that I was tossed around from therapist to therapist from one appt to the next. I don't know if I even saw the same therapist more than twice during my 12 week session. Every time I went in the therapists were multitasking and it seemed like there was a lot of patient overlap and they were trying to juggle more than one patient at a time. Not the greatest feeling when you're expecting to receive one-on-one attention and a full hour of service. It was definitely not that. Luckily, my insurance covers most of the expenses. I only end up paying a small portion (my co-pay). But when I look at my statement and how much money they charging the insurance company it seems insane. I hardly think what I received in those session is worth $300 a pop. What a racket!! What happened to physical therapy being at the hospitals? When I used to go to Swedish I had much better experience. But now my doctors only refer to this place. The overall experience is generic and I feel like I'm getting the PT equivalent of visiting a chain restaurant like Starbucks or Panera. Also, at the end of all 12 weeks of PT, my pain only mildly improved. Almost not worth bothering. I could have done more in a YouTube video at home.

He successfully analyzed a long-term hip pain problem and developed a temporary solution, then referred me to a doctor to investigate a permanent treatment. He currently is treating a recent painful hip injury with exercises and cold packs that are minimizing the pain. He listens carefully, recommends exercises that are gentle yet effective, and quickly adjusts his recommendations if necessary.

And then she started working on my balance and strength exercises. We know sooner started those exercises and I was told I no longer needed therapy. Since I was in a car accident and had a neck and back injury which resulted in me having BPPV which had been diagnosed by a medical doctor at Swedish Medical Center. I requested that my left ear crystals to be red distributed, as I have balance issues due to BPPV. Alex a therapist at the West Seattle location was to only distribute the crystals in my left ear. Instead, he spent most of my session on his laptop, probably trying to find out how to do the Epley maneuver. What he did was have me turn my head to the left and to the right said that that's all I needed to do and that I would be cured and that I did not have BPPV. I did not come here for a medical diagnosis, and Alex, you are not a medical doctor. You also gave me a deep tissue massage, which killed me at the base of my neck and my scalp. You made my pain level worse. I do not recommend Therapeutic Associates West Seattle.

Nearly a year and a half later, I received a bill totaling close to $2,000--despite the sessions being basic stretching exercises. I contacted Kintsugi to understand the charges and the delayed billing. I was told the coding was done by the therapist and that the billing came from a third-party company--not Kintsugi. However, the bill had Kintsugi's name and contact number, which makes the attempt to shift responsibility feel dismissive and unprofessional. Not only were the charges excessive for simple stretching, but I also stopped attending because I could perform these exercises independently. What's most disappointing is that the billing was delayed until I was no longer working and on a very tight budget. This timing added unnecessary financial stress. During my call, the person I spoke with said he would inform the owner but couldn't offer any resolution. He later left me a voicemail saying he felt I was mad at him, which struck me as odd--I never made any personal remarks, nor did I direct any frustration toward him as an individual. The experience reflects poorly on Kintsugi's business practices and, ultimately, on the leadership that enables them.

Sessions with Jody don't even compare; she works with you for the entire session versus other clinics where you're basically given some exercises and then you perform them on your own with an occasional check-in from an assistant. You literally get what you pay for with Jody and the difference is incredible. I'll never visit a PT chain again now that I've been to Dexter Physical Therapy. Give her a try to see the drastic difference in service levels!
