I was a patient there after 2 surgeries went bad. I had two wound vacs and severe pain. I was treated with nothing but kindness. The nurses, aids, cleaning, and office staff were wonderful and very attentive and responsive to my needs. The wound care nurses, PT, and OT were very patient with me and excellent with recognizing my pain, all the whole being very encouraging and supportive. My entire experience there was very good and I left feeling ready for the next chapter of healing. read more

my elderly mother was moved here from icu at wheeling hospital. upon my 1st visit, the building is run down and outdated, i approached the reception desk to signi as a guest, to be looked at but not greeted or acknowledged. i walked through a crowded hallway of nurses w their computers, not 1 acknowledged me or said hello, including the nurse sitting directly outside of my mother's room as she just looked at me. nobody came in to give an update so i sought them out. my mother was there nearly a month, and every day was a different nurse that wasn't up to speed with her condition. i had to fill them in as most don't educate themselves before their shift. there were a handful of good nurses, maybe a quarter of them. most were rude with no bedside manners. we had to tell them to rotate/move her every couple hours, otherwise it didn't happen. we had to tell them when she needed medication. otherwise they would ask her and she was incoherent. case manager, anne howard, had zero people skills and compassion, didn't return phone calls or texts, and was solely focused on moving my mother out to another facility. dawn, the supposed boss, physicians assistant, i think, also had zero people skills, common etiquette, no compassion whatsoever, didn't introduce herself, and just plain rude. it seems that dawn and anne set the standard, or lack of, regarding patient and family care. after comfort care began, the handful of good nurse's treated my mother and our family with respect and extra care. however, when the other nurses were there, there were no offerings of drinks or food or comfort to the family. i went to the reception desk to request something from the cafeteria, this incredibly rude woman with long bleach blond hair looks at me like im disturbing her and interrupting her from her bag of potato chips, and tells me that they don't have a cafeteria. another time when my mother was gagging and a nurse wasn't anywhere to be found, i reluctantly approached the blond woman and quickly apologized for disturbing and asked if we could see the respiratory therapist. she rudely told me he was busy. so i apologized again and walked away. she yelled and asked if there was a problem, i said that my mother was gagging, that's all, and she angrily turned to others in the office, clearly talking about me as i watched, then had our nurse come to the room. immediately after my mom died, my sister was calling us to let us know and was rudely interrupted by dawn, immediately needing to know what nursing home to send her to. no condolences whatsoever. overall, a horrific experience for my mother and the family. a poorly operated facility with no people and patient skills whatsoever. read more
