This is what we ate: Oaty Berry Banana Smoothie Breakfast Burrito Nut Roast Wrap Vegetable puree soup (of the day) Americano Coffee Korma, served with veggie fried rice, roast potatoes, and green salad (this was the special of the day) Falafel Wrap Salad Plate (combo of prepared salads including pesto fusilli, carrot coconut slaw, beetroot, sesame noodles, bulgar couscous) Four desserts (two baked, two raw) We also ordered a second salad combo + a side of hummus to take home for the next day. The food was all very fresh, very nutritious, and very tasty. My 6yo loved the Korma and the Nut Roast wrap. My 4yo loved the hummus. My husband and I loved it all. Helen, the owner, was very kind and took excellent care of us. This is a special place, and a rare find outside of Dublin. There is a big selection of potted flowers, herbs and other plants. Italian pesto and other sauces, fresh fish and pork. Coffee and juice, crepes, organic cleaning products etc. The highlight here for me is the pastry and the pies! The pie man has a booth here and they truly are the best pies I've ever had, nice selection of chicken, beef, veg, so much flavor. Big pie that is enough to fill you up, just 5€ (heated up for 6€) The pastry is also fab, lots of tarts, Danish, croissants, cookies, brownies, bread and more. All of which are delicious. Big enclosed venue (next to Teeling), so it's weather proof, and you can even bring your dog inside! Lots of friendly vendors and delicious food and drink. So lucky to have this place so close to home, it's now our Saturday tradition to get coffee and pastry, and pies to take home. There's a seating area if you want to eat in, too. The man in front of me got some spuds and it came to 50c, he was shocked at the cheapness. There is a lovely touch at the front door, a local has print-outs of recipes and the seasonal veg/fruit that go with it. I was absolutely astonish by the price of the avocados at 0.99 cent each, this is the best price for the quality you will get, I can guarantee that the same avocado costs up to €1.60 to €1.70 which is an awful lot of a difference, and like this example I could give you many more. Nicky (the owner) appeared to talk to me and explain a bit about the shop and the offers he has and he kindly let me take a photo of the shop. This kind of shops you won't find them anymore and they are such a treat for the area and the locals. There you will select fresh fruit and vegetables with the help of nice people behind the counter who will give you a smile and good service, not like a big super market where you will be wondering about and finding out where to weight your items. We (we all do) are responsible for letting go small places like this instead of supporting the small companies which have a lot more to offer than the big monsters who won't even care what they are selling to you or what kind of food you cook and eat. I bought some organic French green lentils (€3.60 for 500 g), organic basmati rice (€5.85 for 1 kg) and a bag of Ricola (who doesn't love Ricola?). Dee and Co. are friendly and helpful and ready to listen to recommendations for stuff to keep in stock. (So let them know if there's something you'd like!) Prices are competitive with other health food stores and the selection was good... and expanding. I'm also giving them 5/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact based on what they keep in stock. A health food store is a haven for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone who wants to eat "mostly plants." The rice and lentils may seem pricey, but they are good quality organic products from a reliable supplier (Rainbow organic) and with just these two and a few onions, I could make enough Mujaddara to feed a small army! (Look up the recipe - it's delicious ;) Getting your protein from legumes (which fix their own nitrogen and so don't need much fertilizer) is so much better for the planet than getting it from meat. And they have lots of dried legumes - lentils, beans, etc. For other household items they stock more eco-friendly versions of what you might find in Tesco or Lidl (e.g., Ecover laundry detergent). Lots of toiletries (I think I saw some bamboo toothbrushes) and other essentials - will have to go back and take photos of their shelves!

They're the only place down town that I know of that sells "beond " bars and it is my number one place to grab Wheatgrass Powder. If you're like me and love the more unique organic grocery selection, The Organic Supermarket is highly recommended.
