We never can use the 50 amp and one of the workers tells us that was disconnected years ago because they had issues with it. The site had not been cleaned up from the previous campers. The claim you get free wood every night only happened 1 out of 3 nights. We were told we had sewer when we made the reservation so that wasn't true. We used the campgrounds showers which were cold no matter which ones you used. For the price we paid, I expect a hot shower. The jump pad, the kids most favorite part, had a hornets nest in it but they couldn't do anything about it the ENTIRE weekend. No one from the campground enforces no bikes on the hill next to our site so I was just waiting for the crash into our car or motor home. The duck race was a joke because they never did release all the ducks that were bought. It use to be a donation but who knows where it was going to. When we arrived the bathrooms were filthy and there were at least 10 workers just hanging out in the store doing nothing. The cabins use to be so clean but that wasn't happening. The air conditioners barely work. The trailers are a fire hazard and extremely unsafe. If the franchise sees this post I do believe action will be taken.

Sandy Island Beach is a New York state park on the east end of Lake Ontario. It contains the only…read moresignificant freshwater natural sand dunes in the Northeast. Only a small part of the sand is open for use as a beach to the public, since most of it is protected park land. When I went it was not too busy, but it would not take very many people to fill up the beach. The natural dunes are beautiful and the sand is very fine and soft. The swimming area is roped off which restricts how far swimmers can go. The beach goes from smooth sand, to a few feet of slightly uncomfortable rocks where the waves crash, then back to smooth sand underwater. I went swimming and it was a pleasant experience, with 72 degree water in mid-August. The fee was $7 per car for the whole day and there's a decent amount of parking. There are bathrooms and showering facilities.

Also a fun place to skip rocks. It mostly has stones that wash up on the beach, there are plenty of rocks to choose from. The downside of this beach is that it is tiny, dirty, and at least every time I have been here it does not seem very swimmable. You cannot really enjoy a nice walk on the beach because it will be about a 3 minute walk to get to the end. There was a lot of trash scattered about the sand. Lastly the waves have always been pretty big when I have visited and with having stones instead of sand at the waters edge I can imagine it being a rough time. I would not think there is really a good time of year though to swim here or sunbath since it is pretty cold most of the year.

Sites are level and lots of grass. Gated entry keeps people from just "cruising" through. We were here to fish. Unfortunately, the fish did not know it. Only caught two. Beth and her husband are super people and well organized. There was a chili cook off the first weekend we were here. Loved hearing the waves from the lake. When we were not fishing we explored Pulaski, Oswego and a lot of the surrounding areas. Absolutely beautiful country. If you plan to visit be sure to call ahead and make reservations as spaces are limited.

I'm sorry for such a long post but I promise it will be worth the read. For 6 months we have said…read morenothing to keep the peace. But our time has come. Last September Jim and I were victims at the hands of Rich and Bethanne Brennan. They are the owners of Ontario Shores campground 348 Rainbow Shores Rd in Pulaski NY. We had gone on vacation to Washington State to visit our son and during that time Rich Brennan took it upon himself to turn on our main water hook up and proceeded to wash his hands at our campsite. The problem is that when he turned on the water he also turned on our toilet flush system and never shut it off. That filled our black water tank and flooded our camper from one end to the other with septic water thus totaling our camper. Water was literally pouring out of the bottom of our camper and within days black mold started to form making the camper unusable! At the time they acknowledge what they had done and turned it into their insurance company. The problem is their insurance company only offered to clean the camper not repair it. $2800 vs the $20,000+ to repair/replace it. That's where everything turned ugly. At that point Rich and Bethanne said too bad...that's what they offered. We're not paying a penny more. At that point communication of any kind on their part ceased. For months we tried to communicate with them to come to a reasonable agreement for both of us. And each time I reached out we received no response. Finally in December they said they were advised to not speak to us directly and we must communicate through their attorney and we should hire one to do so. So we hired an attorney to do just that. Neither the Brennans nor the insurance company attorney would respond to our lawyer as well. So weighing our options with our attorney which were sue the Brennans, sue the insurance company or sue both we opted to eat the loss and turn it into our own insurance company. We had options and our lawyer assured us would have won! Unfortunately legal fees would have been astronomical and our lawyer advised us to pursue a settlement with our own insurance and take the loss. Another reason we chose to go in that direction and not sue them also is because we still wanted to camp at Ontario Shores. We love it there and all of our camp families are there for the summer. It was our summer home! I failed to mention that in November I reached out to Beth and asked specifically if we would be welcome back in the spring. Mind you...we have done nothing but I felt the need to ask. She said "of course you are". With that we went out and bought another camper with the anticipation of returning in the spring. We had zero idea what was to come! Fast forward to March of this year. We receive a certified letter in the mail out of the blue stating we are no longer welcome at Ontario Shores for the 2022 season despite having a signed contract and having paid a deposit for the year. Come get your stuff off your site by April 25th and nothing more. No reason. Thus victimizing us once again. I asked Beth why they had made this decision and she stated that "they felt threatened when we retained and attorney!" But they're the ones who told us to get one! You can imagine our confusion and upset! And this isn't their first rodeo. I know 2 other families that were kicked out for no reason they are aware of because no reason was given. They were great neighbors and nice families. The Brennans do this stuff randomly and without remorse. This past weekend we went to our former campsite and got all of our items off of our site. When Jim requested the return of our deposit Rich was rude and disrespectful and told Jim that "we tried to shake them down for tens of thousands of dollars!" This couldn't be further from the truth! The facts are we took what we got from our insurance company and paid the rest out of our pocket. The only thing we were hoping to get from the Brennans is maybe a free season or two of camping since they were the ones who destroyed our camper. But we were willing to settle for absolutely nothing. Returning to our summer camping life was that important to us. In fact our lawyer reached out to them as recent as last week to assure them we would not sue and we would sign a legal document stating so if we were allowed to return. Nothing would change their mind. To date this terrible injustice has cost them NOTHING financially and they've actually convinced themselves that they did nothing wrong. The funny thing is we weren't going to sue them! But we are now! Emotionally we are broken! And our poor Livvy is absolutely devastated. She has so many friends there and she loves spending time with her Namma and Papa. This affects so many people and they could care less. But there is nothing we can do to change the outcome. All we can do is hope to save the next person from a Brennan injustice. Because if you think this can't happen to you...YOU'RE WRONG!!!

We were only able to stay for maybe an hour because the water was so cold. Myself, husband, and our two boys were absolutely freezing. The water was not heated and the air was maybe 75 degrees. Very disappointing about spending over $140 just for tickets. If the manager reviews this, I'd greatly appreciate a refund or give my boys another chance to change their experience with heated water. I have been dreaming of skiing in Osceola for years, but was always daunted by the very long drive…read morefrom Rochester, and the fact that I would most likely need to drive there and back in the same day. But earlier this month, when there was no snow anywhere locally, and the folks at Osceola Ski and Sport resort were promoting a dumping of 3-feet of fresh powdery goodness, I decided now was the time. The drive out ended up to be 2 hours and 20 min. That was partly due to us not knowing the way (a wrong turn here or there) and partly due to the roads, as many of the 'smaller' local roads were plowed but still snow covered. Not knowing the area, we took our time and got there safely. On the way to Osceola Ski and Sport, you pass 'the other Osceola xc ski resort,' Osceola Tug Hill, which we have also never visited. We had decided to check out the furthest resort first and so Osceola Tug Hill is still on our list. The main difference between the two is that the Ski and Sport resort is newer with a more modern building structure whereas the Tug Hill resort is more rustic and more like a traditional alpine ski lodge. Both have miles of trails, ample parking and amenities. At Ski and Sport, the interior space includes a fire place, lots of seating, a big screen TV, a self-service coffee bar, a cafe with fresh food like soups and sandwiches and baked goods, heated bathrooms which were clean, and an equipment rental shop. In addition, they have trail maps on an app that you can download, which tracks you as you ski around, and allows you to see where you are at all times (which is good because there are so many trails, it's easy to get disoriented and lost!) The outside trails were groomed well, and there was a great variety of trails for every skill level; trails were mostly marked with names or numbers. There are trails on both sides of the road, and all are groomed for skate skiing and classic. We skied for hours, took a break, then went back out and basically skied until it was single digits outside and we were beat. An excellent experience overall, and one that made us feel the drive was worth it. Definitely recommended!

Lots of variety and an active map that helped us learn the trail options while knowing where we were at all times. A cozy space for warming up with delicious food and warm drinks. Impeccably clean bathroom. We also checked out a well stocked ski shop with new skis as well as an ample supply of rentals. Such a friendly and upbeat atmosphere. Dustin and Christina are gracious and helpful hosts. It is in the boonies, so to speak, but the journey was well worth the time. We can't wait to get back there!
