This cute, minimalist cafe is quite small, with no tables and only limited seating by the windows. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find a  number of small groups of people hanging out--sipping on their drinks while chatting, even if it was standing up. I found it added to the local feel of the place, which I enjoyed being a tourist myself. My friend ordered a mocha latte while I ordered a chai latte. The drinks are a bit on the small side, but they really punch the small cup with a lot of flavor and taste. I thought my latte was a bit too cinnamon-y--but honestly just a matter of preference as I still found the drink to be really good. The baristas here seem to really take their job seriously as we admired the delicate care and work they put into making our drink. Here they don't just mix a bunch of stuff together and call it a drink--rather they take the extra time to measure things with precision and prepare everything with a gentle touch. This might explain why their menu is limited, with only a few kinds of drinks and a few pastries...but if it means each drink is of high quality as ours were, then that isn't a bad thing at all.  Another pro was that the baristas were super friendly and spoke good English--adding to the overall pleasant experience here. When you walk in it is quite small, no tables or chairs, only the two windows with heaters underneath which they have made into seating areas. The baristas are nice, ours was slovak and she also spoke english. They were very friendly telling us about the place and things like this. I had a cafe latte here and my friend a cappuchino. The sizes of our drinks did seem a bit smaller then a usual cafe (and were in to go cups, not regular mugs) but the quality was still very good. We paid I believe 45 crowns or so each for our drinks. We hungout here for a while just chatting in the window sil turned seat hangout, but beware- no bathrooms here or wifi. Don't expect anything but quality time with yourself or a friend! They do sometimes have little cakes here but nothing substantial, only a coffee place here. Still thought this little place was very cute and cozy. A must stop if you love coffee and are in this area.

This particular one is my favorite since it the most cozy and offers free wifi. If you're having trouble connecting go towards the register to connect and then sit down. The staff is also super helpful and friendly here. For the first time I tried their hummus and omg was it delicious! It was homemade all of natural ingredients and seriously one of the best i have ever had. Their pita bread is also delicious and homemade, and for 80 crowns it's a steal. I have had hummus at other cafés like this and been seriously disappointed. Thank you mama cafe for another magical experience!!!

In fact, I was surprised by how many vegan options they had in the bakery. At the time of my visit, their vegan options included: raspberry croissant, vanilla danish, cherry danish, and apple pie. I was super tempted to try all of them, but only ended up getting the raspberry croissant and the vanilla danish --both of which were actually super delicious and made me want to try the other items even more! However, I had a less pleasant experience with my barista who straight up said "I don't know" when I asked her if their new coconut drink was vegan. Despite understanding and speaking near-perfect English, she seemed uninterested in doing her job responsibilities, which came off as extremely unprofessional. Not wanting to "bother" her, I ended up getting cherry iced green tea because I knew that would most likely be vegan. Aside from that somewhat of an awkward experience at the register, everything else was fine and I hope I get to try other vegan bakery items before my departure!

Pavlova metro/tram stop, and has a lovely downstairs area with a variety of seating, and people working on homework, work, or discussing business. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked inside and saw the beautiful bookshelves and plentiful comfortable seating areas. Friends coffee house is a good representation of Prague in that what you see in the inside of buildings can completely shock you compared to the outside (i.e. the beautiful passage ways that connect to other shops and gardens). This is the ideal spot to get work done in Prague. Many of the cafe goers were American students studying abroad. It has a unique vibe in that it's one of the few coffee places in Prague that isn't crazily crowded and is a quiet, comfortable place to study. They also have a bookshelf for you to go through if you just feel like stopping by for a relaxing read! Another fun fact, the coffee house hosts a separate co-working space in the back, but this requires a paid reservation. I would not recommend this coffee shop if you are looking to socialize with friends over great dessert. However, if you are looking to get work and studying done at a cute place with great coffee in Prague 1 Friends Coffee House is one of the best!

Barren or bust... that's what I always say…read more Especially after sharing this miniscule space with Satan's spawn in the form of an obnoxious 2-year-old, pig-tailed, blonde girl with an iPad (exactly as I've always pictured the babe of beelzebub) and penchant for kicking the wooden bench we shared with her and her terrible mother... or as I prefer to call her, 'that motherf*cker with the demon daughter.' It's times like these that I thank my lucky stars for lazy ovaries. So my group of 4 walked into mamacoffee, a cute little (read: shitty suburban apartment walk-in closet level tiny - trust me, I would know) indie-looking coffee shop with tons of fair-trade and sustainable coffee for purchase at about an eighth of the cost that it would be back home in Chicago, and of equal quality. When I first walked in I was going to get one of their African roast coffees, but as I stood in line (for about 10 minutes with one person ahead of me) and listed to that demon child cackle and kick, I thought, f*ck that. I need something warm with alcohol. Please throw some whiskey, ether, or if her shrieking level increases, cyanide in there to put me out of my misery. What I ended up getting was basically an Irish coffee with really high-quality coffee and a little chocolate on the side. Everyone in my group enjoyed their drinks and bites (which included a vegan pasty and oatmeal cookie), but just a word to the wise that coming here with more than just yourself is not recommended. there's one single barista and she makes each drink separately from start to finish -- no two drinks were brewing at the same time so it took pretty close to an hour for the three of us who ordered drinks to get our beverages. The two guys behind us waited and stood for over an hour to order and then receive their drinks... all with that child kicking the entire time. Inside there's room for three people to stand semi-comfortably... but I'm counting the barista herself as one of those three. There's 4 tables in the whole places that seat 9 people comfortably... if no one is standing waiting to order. But, if there's a delivery guy coming during your time there, I'd say the place can hold 6 people and one cursing delivery guy who can't get his stack of ingredients needing to be delivered into the too small space. Also good to know, there's no free wifi... which at the time I thought was total bullsh*t, but apparently free wifi in European coffee shops is a rarity, as we found throughout the rest of our trip. For bites, my friends ordered one savory vegan pasty with root vegetables that was fantastic and a couple cookies that I thought were just alright but later regretted not eating more of when I realized that this was the only place we'd visit that day that served something that was not brown meat topped with white mystery gravy. It was incredibly warm and cozy inside and if it weren't for that god-less, heathen-child, this would absolutely be the perfect place for a one-on-one winter meet up with friends who enjoy caffeine and/or caffeine with booze. We ended up just taking our cookies to go when it became apparent going on the second hour of being here that the devil baby wasn't going to let up with the kicking or the shrieking. All in all, it's a great space, albeit detrimentally tiny to the point that where you need to evaluate the crowd and decide if it's worth the wait time and the possible impending headache.
