After hearing another story of someone paying $5k for neuropathy treatment that didn't work. Dr. Ciccala sold them on the treatment, saying they wouldn't need surgery and ended up out of the $5k PLUS having to get surgery. I showed up emotionally spent trying to fix a problem. He appeared to listen and care without any pressure, etc. When I decided to start with him, over time I realized I kept returning without progress, and he did the same thing to address results each session. I finally asked him to review and compare xrays from 1 year prior (approximately) from another NUCCA chiropractor. He kept saying "he hasn't gotten around to it". I finally said, I'm coming in ONLY for the comparison. He was explaining with hesitation to say it was WORSE. I had to say it for him and he agreed. It was my sign to leave then and there. At one point I recall him rolling his eyes when he said people doubt his plan is working. I said, "well, I'm not noticing progress" and to see where I can improve the process, I asked if he had a massage therapy recommendation. He snickered and said "not for you". Another time I asked for a person who could assess nutrition needs and referred me to someone who I wouldn't consider an expert at all. Another service I received there, gave me little to no feedback and when I mentioned that to him, he said "she gives me a lot of info". I would say, the worse your condition is, move on to find a pro. I was at my worst and when you find people to be condescending in that state, says more about their true character. I think he has a good vibe initially - handsome, listens (for opportunity to sell in my opinion) and is a well run, efficient office. BUT my situation was a challenge and although I wanted to trust him, I found he would not have my back, literally or figuratively. Perhaps NUCCA is good, but I doubt it impacts hip/pelvic area at all. Perhaps this doctor and his supporting staff are the best for some. I would say, buyer beware for those with specific needs who want feedback, info and progress. The chiropractic profession has earned a reputation and I've come across various reasons why. He was a bit zipped up so I trusted the process until I experienced his lack of resourcefulness, etc and realized, I committed to his program but he was not committed to my results. Again, he may be great for some, but I find Dr. Ciccala to lack resources unless it's self serving. More than likely I would not have put this review up if their office showed any concern. But after quite a while, I thought I should because others might save their money and time and I don't want to think about them or hold onto this experience. I'm now able to let it go. More than likely, he will roll his eyes like he does about others who aren't experiencing progress.

Dr…read more Arnold and his office staff claimed that my insurance was not paying their bill and asked me to call the insurance company on their behalf. I called that day and learned that the office had not submitted the invoices. In the meantime I was paying what was believed to be my bill on the day of my adjustments. When I hit my deductable with my insurance company, I then had a credit with Dr. Arnold. Funny thing is the office staff could not find my credit on their books. Then the doctor wrote me a letter and dumped me as a patient. He mentioned my account and that he could not help my physical situation. What a coward, he couldn't even face me. I was going in for maintenance adjustments. I wasn't asking him to fix anything. So the office staff does not know how to bill, they will keep money that is owed to you and the doctor may dump you due to their inabilities. I suggest finding a different chiropractor.

ACUPUNCTURE BILLING FRAUD…read more I was quoted $120.00 for an acupuncture appointment with ALex . First I called and their receptionist quoted $120.00 and then the day of the Aptmt. 8/29/24 at the front desk before the appointment I was quoted $120.00 would be billed to my Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance (I had also checked with BC/BS prior and they said my appointment will be covered; yay...what great news; our traditional insurance will finally cover acupuncture. I got the bill and TOTAL health systems took advantage of my insurance and charged over $300.00 for this $120.00 appointment. They charged an additional $120.00 for an office visit (I didn't have an office visit; I had an acupuncture visit. They are double dipping on the billing. Then they charged an additional $85.00 for a 15 minute time (during the $120.00 session) for plugging in the electrical current which I was NEVER asked if I wanted that extra service and NOT told it would mean billing my insurance an extra $85.00! I called the Washington Twp., office and spoke to Barb the manager who didn't think there was anything amiss with lying to me about the total costs or doing a BAIT and SWITCH to the customer. I requested to speak to the CLinical DIrector and Owner Aaron Lundgaard and he didn't even bother to do his job and troubleshoot my complaint. Instead Barb said to me she told him about it and his answer was there is nothing wrong with how this was billed? I am the customer who was deceived by shady business practices and Aaron replied he saw no problem. If I don't hear back from Aaron this week I intend to file a formal complaint with our Michigan Better Business Bureau. I live in Washington Twp. and am very active in the community...sadly I will share my experience with our community in a variety of ways to warn people of these shady business practices. Very disappointing this business will ruin it for future expansion of alternative health care with their greed and taking advantage of sick clients like me. Total Health Systems have committed FRAUD in my case and have shown no regard when I called this to their attention. UNfortunately I also did not benefit from the acupuncture I received from ALex; I saw no improvements whatsoever. However, Alex is very nice, kind and empathetic but needs much more practice placing needles without pain. I have received acupuncture from a variety of practitioners and know what results can be achieved. Worse yet 1 out of every 3 needles Alex placed were painful. A good acupuncturist knows how to place almost all the needles without pain. The goal of this complaint is to warn others about their shady business practices from deceiving the customer of their billing practices and to create a change with this problem. The receptionist needs to be up front when asked the price; by saying there are two prices. They have 2 prices one for the paying customer and one for your insurance. I will never do business with a greedy deceitful place like this thanks to poor management, training, price gouging and lack of response from the owned when you have a problem with billing. Another review is written below telling of the same inflated billing. If there was a zero star I would check that.
