Not particularly a gourmet stop, but hey, what do you expect at the airport? Besides, Fiumicino is huge and full of coffee shops and food kiosks, one can easily find whatever their soul desires. These were fried yeast dough puffs covered in granulated sugar and with a squirt of filling in the top middle of the dough. It's not exactly a donut by American standards, but it's not far off. We tried the chocolate and the pistachio flavor filled ones, though they had a vanilla cream flavor and one or two others. The flavored fillings were almost like a wet pudding consistency and the sugar on the outside of the dough gave it it's sweetness. Bottom line: Glad I tried Krapfen!
