This is a challenging time with Covid-19, but Liz arranged for us to see (by some different means) 4 adult foster care homes all in one afternoon. She also came to each appointment with us and jumped in appropriately to ask owners questions that she knew we needed answers to. She also provided us with a basic questionnaire form so that we had a list of some good questions to ask each owner. The care was good and the plan for progress and discharge was thorough and comprehensive. The food was even good! The weekend staff seemed a little less committed to the level of care, but our family member was "with it" and I think that helps.

Unfortunately, the longer she was there, the more things went downhill. When we tried to voice our concerns to Kelly (who, by the way, is listed as the grievance officer) and Sequin (the "resident care manager") they were absolutely useless. We did encounter a few good CNAs: Emily, Tirsa, and Ashley, but the rest should look into another profession. One of them even flat out refused to do her job, and every day I would clean up when I got there because they're all too lazy, leaving garbage and crap all over the room.

I moved my dad in at the beginning of this week, and so far I have been very impressed with the…read morestaff, activities, and my dad's studio apartment with a balcony and great pastoral views of trees and marshes. I worked with Christyna at 1st Choice Advisory Services to search through a bunch of options and settled on Brookdale for a number of reasons: 1) The price was right for my budget. 2) It's located close to two parks and a trail along the Tualatin River that my dad can walk. 3) There is memory care for when my dad inevitably needs it. 4) It came with a glowing recommendation from Christyna for the Executive Director, Nino, who she previously worked with in Vancouver. I had a great experience working with Junene to make the move-in happen, as well as with Anil to get my dad's unique care plan put together. During the move-in Brookdale was very accommodating to my request to remove the closet doors and cabinet doors so that my dad would be able to see all his belongings - they even helped us mount his tv to the wall. All the caregivers I've interacted with have been attentive and kind to my dad. Jill, at the front desk, gave me a call when some important looking paperwork arrived in the mail and wanted to check if it was something she should forward to me or give to my dad - I was impressed with that attention to detail. Dad is enjoying the food and the all activities that have recently returned after COVID - by a strange coincidence they severed his favorite meal, meatloaf, on the first day he was there. My two biggest concerns is that my dad is happy and that he is safe, and so far Brookdale is fulfilling both.

My sister and I were so scared watching my mom pass and would of appreciated more guidance. I was not contacted by the agency after my mom passed. No one said the were sorry to see her go but the facility got a bouquet of flowers. I contacted them to share my upset. I was told there would be grief support and I would be contacted, I am still waiting. The social worker was not helpful neither was the chaplain. I would not recommend this company.

I've managed many companies and employees over the years, so understand they are the backbone and most important resource in any business. Ormand has been my mom's sitter during hospice care on the above dates. He was comforting and soothing for mom during some very difficult times. His calmness and caring spirit instantly communicated with her--it was like a miracle. During her agitated states, Mom required constant and vigilant care. Ormand not only provided that--he also initiated the following: 1. Positioned mom from side-to-side (every two hours to relieve pressure on her bed sores) 2. Set up and maintained an hourly log regarding Mom's condition, meds administered, and times she was turned from side to side. This has been incredibly valuable information for everyone on the care team. 3. Changed her nightgowns and bedding to keep her fresh, and anything else he could think of to help keep her comfortable 4. Most important: Ormand's close scrutiny of mom's condition helped us all become aware of agitation caused by one of her meds--and so we were able to adjust medication orders--and Mom has been so much LESS agitated and peaceful ever since! Ormand is not only very intelligent and medically knowledgeable. He is genuinely caring, and takes serious responsibility for his patients--putting him in an entirely different league than ALL the caregivers my mom has had over the past ten years!! Ormand definitely exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend Ormand for any work or position for his training and skills. He is a superb employee and person. Any employer is lucky to have him. His compensation should reflect his high level of expert and caring service. We are so fortunate Ormand was sent to us. Katherine Lawrence
