Having said that, I absolutely loved my massage. This is a massage school, and the appointments are not easy to get. I book way ahead and look forward to it. My first visit I was matched with Elaine M. It was wonderful and the energy in the waiting room is great. The pieces on the walls, the way their office in back is open, and the way everyone obviously loves each other and wants to be there! I liked Elaine so much I booked her again. As we were walking to our spot, I asked if she was a teacher there, and was surprised to learn she was a student. She was born to do this. I should note, that the bed she brought me to was in a large room with room dividers separating the beds. I didn't see anyone else, and this didn't bother me at all. Having said that, my husband had a massage here previously so I expected this. They do not use essential oils, perhaps I could have asked for one. This makes sense being in a shared environment. Under their guidance, he has made huge gains in the past year. He is more confident in his thoughts, actions, and his ability to communicate. They encourage curiosity, exploration, and self-motivation, allowing an interest in a wide range of topics. They address his and each individual child's needs and value their different backgrounds. As a former teacher, I see the educational environment at Aster as one in which I'm happy my son participates and one that I feel all children deserve. The support, access, and awareness each child develops will give them an incredible start to accessing their full potential. Some of my favorite things about Aster include: -daily outdoor time at one of the parks or playgrounds nearby. -a beautifully designed space that includes photos of each family, lots of plants, and materials that are accessible and interesting to the children, but never feels cluttered or overwhelming. -the encouragement of strong friendships among children and families (further developed by opportunities to connect outside of school as well as during drop-off and pick-up each day). -a convenient location (we walked to school every day last year). -quick responses to emails, phone calls, and texts (outside of school hours, of course). -diverse teacher perspectives/race. -a strong scientific basis and the use of data and observation to assess needs and guide learning. And finally, I truly believe that not only is my son safe and growing and learning every day, his teachers love him and care about his future happiness and success. She has grown to be more independent, confident and socially active. For someone who is the younger child at home, she now feels pride in helping her younger peers while continuing to have older peers as role models. One of the things that we love most about Aster is the sense of family that permeates through the school. Through weekly parent days at school and monthly parent education evenings, we feel that we get to spend time with our children, build a community with the other Aster families, and learn more about the Montessori method. Through these shared values and this shared time, Aster has come to feel like an extended family for us. This sense of family extends to the community as well -- whether the children are planting a garden in the park across the street or baking cookies for their neighbors or just greeting people on their daily walk to the park, they are becoming contributing members of their surrounding community. From the first day I enrolled my oldest daughter in Preschool Social Academy we have had a great…read moreexperience.  I was lucky to see my child run into the play area and wave goodbye as she ran off with friends. She would come home excited to tell us what she had learned at preschool.  When she started Kindergarten she knew all her alphabetic symbols and numbers and was eager to learn to read.  Socially she was more than ready to start Kindergarten. Once Kimberly opened a toddler room, we enrolled our second daughter.  Within 2 weeks we saw an immediate improvement in her verbal skills.  When she arrived she was only saying a few words, but now she is speaking sentences, singing ABCs, counting.  After showing interest in the potty, she is well on her way to being potty trained.  Kimberly has helped us with the horrible transition of bye bye binky.  As a full-time working parent, it is great to know that my children have wonderful care.  I get progress reports daily.  Food is provided, so I only have to pack pullups and a change of clothes.   If it is one of those days and I forget something, no worries, they have extras.  I couldn't be more pleased with the education and care my children have received at PSA.

The school has a low student to teacher ratio, 10:3, which provides ample opportunities for working individually with each child. I have been able to watch Sammi learn and develop so much through her work at PSA. Each day I get a personalized report about what Sammi has done/eaten that day at school, as well as what they are focusing on. All snacks and meals are provided by PSA, which makes it so much easier getting out the door! I love to hear Sammi sounding out starting sounds of words, and seeing in the reports that, that is what they are learning at school. I love being able to build on what she is learning at school. The play plans each child draws/labels as they're able to, are great as I get an idea of what she's doing at school and she's writing them in her own words, which is huge! The school is very academic based as well as structured. Using their reports, I enjoy being able to build on what she is learning in school. It is also nice when I ask Sammi what she did at school, and she says I just played, I can ask more specific questions, and see her get all excited telling me about her day! There are 3 class options at PSA. Two year olds go tues/thurs 9-12, 3 year olds 9-12 mon/wed/fri and 4 year olds (pre-k) 1-4 Monday through Friday. All classes have the option of extending their day to include lunch 12-1. The teachers come out to assist with drop off/pick up, so you only have to walk your child in if you choose, otherwise, no need to get siblings in and out of the car! Drop off/pick up service is available as well as early drop off, and extended day, which has definitely helped me when I've been in a bind! PSA accommodates the parents needs when it comes to drop off/pick up. Miss Kimberly, the owner/lead teacher, is very available to the parents. I can't tell you how many late night texts I have sent her! Whenever I have a concern/paranoid parent moment, she listens and takes the time to get me a meaningful answer. For example, Sammi started joking around and misidentifying colors, Kimberly took the time to work with Sammi 1:1 and show me that this was just a stage she was going through regarding playing with humor. Kimberly also takes the time to go above and beyond, my husband is in the army reserves and is gone at times, Sammi was having a rough time with that, and Miss Kimberly sent home a nice book about this for Sammi to learn from and borrow. PSA offers a flexible summer camp option for enrolled students. The consistency has been so valuable to us! The teachers are so warm and caring. I have heard many stories about some minor boo boo that was a catastrophe for Sammi, "then Miss Amanda hugged me and I smiled!". PSA does not close for snow days unless driving is banned, so if you want to get your child there in a snow storm, they're ready for them! Sammi is in her second academic year at PSA, she's already signed up for summer camp and will keep going until she starts kindergarten, fall 2015!

Her advice was based on in-depth knowledge of my daughter's learning style and personality. The list of colleges she presented were mostly solid targets (rather than reach) and she prepared my daughter to be realistic and in the end, very happy with her acceptances. Joan created a strategy to identify a first choice school, for an early decision application while organizing and motivating her to complete all of her regular and early action applications. Joan's observations of my daughter's strengths and weaknesses and her knowledge of the pros and cons of each school made the process seem more concrete and predictable. Joan continues to follow-up with my daughter and said that she will stay in touch with her throughout her freshman year.

I also learned while there they had a 'Medical Terminology Course', which would feed my previous Army Medical background and learn more up to date terms for work at a Hospital or similar area. The many weeks I was there; with the absolutely patient, understanding, and very loving and talented 'Friends' made there; I have made my life ; because of Operation ABLE's Staff much more enjoyable; and made money I never dreamed of. Let us all support this program as long as God keeps us here. They will always be part of my Heart's 'Family' and I wish them well........ A Check is on the way. Well Deserved.
