What a relaxing, friendly massage. There isn't much parking that's really close, but this is in the heart of hilo. What else would we expect. Rest assured there is ample parking on front Street with a nice stroll to get to your massage! Upon entering I was greeted by a very kind and sweet hostess. Oh. My. God. I will start this by saying I'm a massage junkie. I've probably gotten one in every corner of the world of every variety at this point, and I have no problem stopping someone halfway through and walking out if it's not worth it and they're not improving. Ima word, I'm a massage snob. Chris, the owner, is literally one of the best massages I've ever had. Hands down. Period. I'm a former athlete, so it matters to me that the masseuse knows how your tendons and muscles and bones connect to know where the fascia trigger points are that can release something elsewhere in your body. He knows. He was gentle but firm in the soft tender spots, went super deep on the big knots and muscles and paid close attention to when things would release and he moved on to the next. It felt like he was literally working my body out like a master artist plays an instrument. I went with my boyfriend and got a 4 hand massage first, and Chris worked on him with another person. He said he was amazing - so much that we went back two days later so I could try him in a solo massage myself. I wasn't disappointed. If you are on the Big Island you HAVE to go see this man. My oahna came to Hilo on vacation and stumbled upon Restorative Massage Clinic as we were driving by. Since we had some time to spare before our plane back home, we decided to see if they could get us in right away. As, I walked through the door. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and the calming smell of aromatherapy. With our luck they were able to get us in right away. We waited about 10-15 min as another therapist was called in to accommodate us so we were waiting for her arrival (since I requested a girl). My husband and I totally enjoied our massages. We get massaged back home pretty frequently and this had to be one of the best we had in a long time! I'm so bummed that's their on Hilo and not in my hometown! When the request is for "deep tissue" that is for a reason! Once into the session it is stressful to have to change to a "therapist" that can provide the requested service. Arrived for a 9:30 am appt. Sign on door, closed. Had to go in anyway only to find no one ready and very cold inside. Massage interrupted by the constant application of hot towels. Because of how cold it was inside, the towels became cold too, immediately! $120 for 60 min. which included tip. I always believe in tipping even though service not professional. Found this place on a last minute whim. Visiting from Los Angeles during the holiday weekend to explore the Big Island. After hiking on every hiking trails given by the travel guides, a deep tissue massage was beckoning. Now this is going to sound terrible, but honestly I had low expectations of going into my Hilo massage experience because I've been spoiled living in LA. But this massage experience here is definitely at high level. I have a sciatic on my left hip and my massage therapist knew exactly what to do and she help rolled the pain. And I've been going to physical therapy for over a month now and my PT haven't seemed to fix my sciatic. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about muscle pains. I also like that it's clean and they use aroma therapy with hot stone treatment. Definitely recommend checking this place out. If this place was in LA, I would be a frequent patron here. read more

Highly highly recommend! I booked a somewhat last minute massage here and had one of the best massages in my life with Kim. I feel like some massages tend to just run through a basic routine, but the massage at Restorative was catered to my feedback from the intake form (and likely to the many knots in my shoulders). The massage therapists here are professional, clinical and highly trained. We were sore from driving around and sitting in the car while exploring the island. You can hear the road outside but it was white noise-like. My first appointment with Restorative Massage Clinic was a great experience before I even got there. I made the appointment online, but their receptionist was prompt to contact me with my preferences beforehand and even reached out after they received a missed call from us (no voicemail was left by us...how thorough of them!). Immediately upon arrival, I was impressed by the aesthetic of the clinic. Very clean and pleasing to the eye. The same receptionist, Michelle, was quick to help us and we were offered complimentary mimosas and water. Bonus, the clinic owners dog greeted us with a friendly snoot boop. Honestly, that was probably my favorite part of this place. The intake process was thorough and easy. Banka worked with me and she was very friendly and had a great energy. She even took me early! She discussed my problem areas with me that I had marked on my intake packet and asked what my preferences were. She took deep care in my time with her, really focusing on my problem area but never to neglect areas that were surprisingly unknown problem areas too!! She was very easy to feel comfortable with. In fact, all the staff here were great. Above all, the customer service is really notable here. I ended up getting the membership, because I'll definitely give my money to this clinic long term. I'm loyal now. Status: Taken. My gaze will never stray from this clinic. Other massage clinics where?! I have eyes for no other. Michelle went above and beyond and I ended up booking three services for a few weeks out before I left. Best massage I've ever had! Just passing through Hilo and was blown away to stumble across this find. I've hosted a weekly massage skillshare at my house every Sunday for a little over a year in Seattle and have prided myself in trying out as many of the recommended massage spots in my area as possible. This location doubles as a massage teaching school and the head instructor here struck me as having the energy of Bruce Lee: a great amount if vitality and passion for the advancement of his art, many of his personal inventions in measuring progress, and a wide understanding of technical areas of measurement and improvement that are tailored to be unique to each individual. If I lived in Hawaii, I would wish to make friends with these people right away and have them in my life. I will definitely revisit on any future Hawaii excursions. read more
