The Salmon sashimi was the largest I have ever had and it was fresh and delicious. The eel was top notch, I highly recommend this place to people who want to eat REAL sushi in London. We went along on a Thursday night, it was quite quiet, apparently uncharacteristically so according to our waitress. Straight away we received a friendly welcome, and the good service lasted all through our meal. I'm a vegetarian and ordered the vegetable sushi assortment, and a side of fried tofu. When my food arrived, I was amazed at how beautifully presented and fresh everything looked. The food didn't disappoint, it was tasty, fresh and left me feeling the way all good Japanese food does; full and content without feeling bloated or stuffed. My boyfriend had the spicy prawns and mixed sushi, he was blown away by the prawns, which were a special on the day we visited, and also very happy with the sushi. The price isn't super cheap, we paid about £15 per head, but we felt that for the quality of the food and the overall experience, it was more than fair. Will be recommending Oka to all my friends.

I came across it today wandering through Sutton and popped in to find a tidy, well-stocked shop. There were lots of shelves of groceries, some of which were recognisable goods but just with Polish brand names as well as some which looked less familiar. Some of the sauces looked interesting and may be worth a try in the future My current experience of Polish food is limited to pierogi - dumplings with varied fillings. There were a lot of pierogi in the freezer section However, my interest was immediately drawn to the deli counter at the front of the shop. There was an interesting assortment of cold cuts of meat, a wonderful array of sausages and a few cheeses. The lovely lady behind the counter was very patient in explaining the products to me and offered me tasters I walked away with 2 types of kielbasa sausage - garlic and smoked - as well as one of the Edam style cheeses. All for around £3.50 I shall be back, especially with her advice that Thursday is a good day to shop here when they have fresh deliveries. I like the sound of some of the things not available today - a fried style of sausage as well as some made with liver

Before anyone gets too excited about the name and the…read moreexact nature of this shop's business, the large South African flag on the shop sign gives the clue that it's a food shop selling South African food. It's a little shop in the corner of the District Line concourse in Wimbledon station. As the proprieter said to me, it's 100% South African, even down to the staff working there. There is a selection of South African foodstuffs but the main attraction for me is in the cooked food and strips of dried meat hanging up. They do a selection of cooked meats in rolls. I've enjoyed the broerwors sausage with chilli sauce. So much more flavour than the Burger King across the road. The grilled steak also smelt mighty inviting. My other little treat is usually some biltong, which comes in a varietty of flavours though I usually stick with original, or some droewors. I've spied some ostrich, which may be next on the hit list. The only regret is that the store is only accessible once you pass through the ticket barriers.

Though easier if you put them in the fridge! The guy serving me happily shaved the end off some hanging biltong to try and cater for my taste, but those bits weren't great. It was kind of him to try though. The way it's flavoured is with a powder, and I'm sure works well with moist meat; though I like biltong dry, chewy and marinated. I'm sure if you like soft biltong then you may rate it more highly, though I'm not that much of a fan when it's not dry. The taste was good though, just not quite to my style.

I know Japan Centre has similar quality but the price point is not always right. Chinatown is good for some things (fresh veggies, fresh rice noodle rolls, ramen, etc.) but it's hard to beat the selection at H-Mart. There is good lighting and sufficient aisle space so carts going in opposite directions don't have to awkwardly back out of the aisle so the opposing cart can go first (kind of like the naughty London roads!) - in most grocery stores in Chinatown, you are elbow to elbow with someone else trying to get a damn jar of Hoisin sauce in your overflowing basket. Customer service is lacking, especially when something is out of stock and no one in the store seems to know what is going on or when they will get more. Aside from the cashiers, most people working the floor do not speak English very well. The employees are mainly Korean and Chinese. However, most items are translated to English on labels and signage. I will continue to shop here for quality groceries and I hope they open more locations so that it is easily assessable to more people in London.
