My husband tried to do a DoorDash and they made it almost impossible to get the order because they were holding the receipt and not letting him have the receipt for the order. Even two managers came up and tried keeping the receipt and package . They would not hand him the receipt,DoorDash requires a receipt and the customer's money had already went through. It was my birthday so I went in for a free birthday gift. I wanted to buy a perfume and didn't know where to start. I don't know these two ladies names but one had a ponytail with a braid and the other lady had black wavy hair with red highlights at the ends. However, all of that takes a back seat to the staff. They are enthusiastically helpful. They know their store and have quickly located everything I've needed. I went in to re-up on Fenty this week and only one person was working. There were only two customers in the store, including myself. The worker was uninterested in us and not welcoming. I walked into the West Town Mall location last night in hopes to find a new foundation and getting some help finding my shade. My exact words to the associate were "Hi! I'd like to find a new foundation, not a super high price point, but still something good quality". Her response was "Nothing in this store will match your price point.. I mean, this is "Sephora...." (in a completely judgemental tone). Like, thanks? I'm aware of the store that I'm in.. Completely stunned at her behavior, I asked again. She then proceeded to recommend the Sephora brand, but while giving her recommendation, the way she talked about it indicated that it was not a high quality product and it was to be expected with my price point. She then ran away and I couldn't even get assistance matching foundation. I left feeling pretty crappy. What gets me is that not once did I give her a specific amount that I was willing to spend, nor did she ask. In fact, if she had given me a few options of brands and more information, I would have been more than willing to increase my budget. However, her assuming, ostentatious and judgemental way of communicating with a customer left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I'm sure there are many other cosmetic stores that will be more than happy to assist me and earn my business. read more

I like having a makeup mecca to which I can make my pilgrimage for Forever HD makeup. I like having samples to try, having the option of a makeover or tips and training. But, believe it or not, I spend as little time as possible on my makeup and therefore as little time as possible in this particular store. Last time I went in, I knew exactly what I wanted to buy (the Forever brand compact and foundation) without the primers and bells and whistles. I'll get those later cause this stuff's dang expensive. The sales person, thankfully, wasn't pushy wit me with trying up upsell or push the extra products on me, which I appreciate. But I have always had two specific issues with Sephora: Their staff wear horrifically gawdy nasty crazy stark and bright and trashy eye makeup generally - the likes of which, were my daughter a teenager, I'd send her butt back upstairs to wash that crap off her face before going in public. Blech. Bad advertisement. Almost as bad as any and every MAC counter attendant. J Just because green eye shadow and fluorescent pink lipstick exists, does not mean you should put them on your face, and never in combination at least. The other issue: The Sephora brand makeup frankly sucks. Which I find ironic. If you're selling heavy hitters in your store, shouldn't you want yours to contend with the best? Meh. read more

This Sephora is the worst I've ever been to! Two stars for being in Knoxville and having a decent selection. As others have noted the sales staff here is very invasive. And they are super stingy with samples. Other Sephoras are NOT like this! And it doesn't matter if you're spending $2 or $200 the staff here consistently acts like they cannot wait for you to leave. If you really want some attitude try returning a gift (with receipt no less) or an online purchase at this store! They act as though you are stealing because you received a duplicate, unopened gift for your birthday. It's obnoxious. The whole point of having a brick and mortar location is to wow your customers with service. The staff here forgets they are in direct competition with their website and there are other cosmetic stores in town now. You get 3 free samples minimum when you shop online and none of the snarky attitude. The only incentive to shopping at this store is to have your purchase today, otherwise shop online! read more

I want to love the Sephora store, but I'll shop Sephora online from now on. The sales people are incompetent and pushy at this location. I went to return an item I received as a gift, and they accidentally took off my beauty insider points for it. When I pointed that out, they were like "Oops. I think it'll go back on there later." So, I left the store and was unable to receive my 100pt beauty item. I waited, but the points didn't go back on there, and when I called the store, they said they couldn't help me. I eventually got the points put back after calling the number on the back of my Sephora card, but it was just a hassle. The store is stingy with their samples, and their sales people put their commission cards in your basket without even helping you. The only reason I still go to this store is to try on face makeup to find the right shade, and then I go home and order it online. read more

I went into this Sephora today to pick up the Diorskin foundation and the employee who helped me was the nicest person I have ever met in my life!! She knew everything about every product I asked her about and was so patient and kind and helpful. I have very VERY fair skin and it's very hard to match a foundation but she found the perfect shade for me and even tried it out on me to make sure I liked it. She also helped me find a few other things and never once tried to pressure me to purchase anything and never made me feel like I was bothering her. I see so many horror stories about Sephora employees but the 3 who I spoke with today were so kind and I thank them for that. I'm not sure if I remember her name correctly and sorry if I'm wrong but I think it was Jucinda? I will for sure be going back to this Sephora instead of purchasing things off their website. read more

I REALLY love this place. Yes, Sephora is a chain store and all, but this particular one has some of the nicest and most helpful staff ever, as well as having a ton of merchandise that is always well stocked. Since it's a smaller store than if you were to visit one in Atlanta or New York, they don't have as many brands. They still have the occasional lesser-known brand, though, such as Illamasqua. For the brands they do have, they carry just about everything that you could also find on their website. Even when I first stepped foot in the place as a mere makeup noob, the staff were very attentive and quick to offer suggestions of where to start, what brands are worth your dime, things like that. Two years later they are still as friendly and helpful as ever, which is great for a store like Sephora, where its biggest challenge is coming across as pretentious and catty. All in all, it's worth a visit to Sephora just to see their extensive cosmetics selection. It's pretty much the Wal-Mart of makeup counters/stores, but without the greedy corporate attitude and shady clientele. read more

Just had the best experience at this Sephora location. The store manager, Stacy, was so kind, knowledgeable, and pleasant to talk to. She was so helpful. She talked me through different brands, showed me multiple products, and knew so much about each product. I had never had a conversation about skin care that was as helpful as my conversation with Stacy. And on top of that, all the employees were just as friendly as her. I usually go to Ulta by Whole Foods, but I am definitely going to come here more often now because of how excellent the customer service was. read more

Edie was great, patiently selecting makeup products she thought would work with my skin tone, applying it, then giving me a second makeover the following week when I thought I needed a little more help. The so-called free facial they offer, however, is nonsense. I was offered this because I had spent over $75.00. I asked more about it and was told it was for about 30 minutes. When I said it didn't sound like a very intensive facial and hence not really worth me driving to West town from North Knoxville, the clerk spoke to someone, came back, and told me it was more like 40 minutes. When I showed up for my appointment 2 weeks later, it was now being labeled a "mini facial, " so I was not pleased about their open deception. After a little bit of zipping a machine over my face with some unknown liquid for a few minutes, it turns out the whole thing was exactly as I had expected. It amounted to little more than pushing as many products as possible coupled with a lot of misinformation about skin from some guy named John, who is as haughty and self-important a person as I've ever had the misfortune to meet. He told me he was going to email me the names of the products he had used, but I never got this. Total time: 30 minutes, not 40. All in all, the facial is not really a facial at all but just an opportunity to push products. read more

I have to say after walking thru half of the store, I found " John" and another CSR in the back of the business. I told them I needed help and he was on it! I explained my situation, and not only did he go into each detail thoroughly, he was very attentive and helpful. So, we did the mini makeover, so I could sample Sephora for the first time. I was amazed with how the products worked for me. Unfortunately, i had to abruptly leave, but John went above and beyond what he was asked to do. He held the items I was interested in purchasing. When I returned, Leah, met me, and brought me the items I had wanted. She was just as attentive. So, to the management of Sephora in the West Town Mall, please lift this team member up with praise as he went well above and beyond what his job requires. I love Sephora for the fact of carrying every brand of makeup I've ever wanted to try, and actually CAN because you are allowed to take home free samples. Unlike Ulta, you are allowed to sample makeup , especially foundation, before you make a purchase. This, to me is an important part of customer service, especially if you are going to spend it on quality makeup. No, this is not drug store products, but you get what you pay for. This especially true for what you are going to be putting on your face. Unlike many other beauty counters, this store caters to makeup and lessons of all ages, and the staff is eager to help you and share their knowledge. I cannot speak highly enough about on of my favorite artist , Lia, a head make up artist at this location. She is amazing, and every single time i get my makeup done by her I come out feeling so confident, and am reassured by others, especially when visiting other makeup counters and being told my makeup is amazing! As long as you spend over 50$ in products you can qualify for a free makeover. I take advantage of this when I have a special event or just need an extra confident boast for the day. Don't forget to sign up for their beauty insiders card to receive points for every dollar you spend, and in turn get to redeem points for free makeup! read more

I, like many others, recognize the beautiful thing that Sephora is. However, there are pros and cons to going into the store vs. shopping on line. First up - over the last year or so it has gotten straight-up obnoxious in terms of pushy staff. Even if they aren't being pushy they are just EVERYWHERE. I literally haven't been able to browse comfortably on more than one occasion because of all the employee bodies strategically placed throughout the sections. That being said, I know the store employees are likely commission based and trying to do their best to help out and make a sale. Recently I decided to brave it and go in vs. shop online because I needed a color match for a new (to me) product. There were lots of employees everywhere, but I was quickly helped by a super friendly girl who did a "color match" thing on my skin and helped me pick the perfect product. I think if you're going in for a reason, and NEED help and plan to purchase something, it isn't annoying. But if you're just browsing for an impulse buy, stick to the website. read more

I just had such a wonderful visit at this Sephora. I worked with Monique who provided the best care and customer service. I was greeted upon arrival and store employees checked in periodically as I wandered the store. I eventually approached two employees for a makeover with makeup purchase and Monique took great care of me! This service is such a great deal if you need makeup for a date night and are already planning to buy some product. Monique answered all of my questions with confidence and showed me how to apply some trickier products. I left feeling beautiful and comfortable and like my money was well spent. I also really appreciated that she was never pressuring me to buy more than I needed, while still encouraging me to get some great items. I will definitely be back in a few weeks to get another mini-makeover and buy some more goodies. This store was a flagship example of how great Sephora can be, even on a busy weekend!
