We traveled from PHL airport to Warminster upon arrival, rode to 30th Street station (from Warminster) to visit the Mutter Museum, took Septa to Fern Rock then the Broadway subway to the stadium for an Eagles Game (GO BIRDS!) and finally Warminster back to PHL to fly home. Each ride was SPECTACULAR! Friendly and knowledgeable conductors, clean cars, and a smooth (cost effective) ride. It was extremely easy, safe and an enjoyable experience all around! The vending machine is appreciated. In the winter, they have a few heat lamps by the tracks, which is a nice touch. During business hours, you also have the option to sit inside to avoid the weather. The new structure to get to the tracks is fine but the elevators don't always work. I've carried heavy suitcases up and down stairs for elderly people on multiple occasions because of this. Honestly I don't fault the station workers at all. They're doing the best they can. Amtrak and SEPTA need more funding. This place is basic. There's literally only one platform but I notice a lot of first time riders getting confused, maybe because it's Amtrak and SEPTA combined? I would suggest adding more signage.

The website says they're at full capacity for parking but its normally $20 monthly and $1 daily. Nice to know, right?

There's not much to write about this place, but here we go…read more Penllyn Station is a small facility with a parking lot of the same cute size and really no facilities sans for the station's office (I think) and covered platform. It even looked a bit abandoned. If there was an office there, it was not open. But, what it lacked in amenities was made up for by its convenient location as our family's house is literally a stroll away. Great for us but it must be so noisy living there. We departed from Philadelphia's Suburban Station which took less than an hour at a mere $6.75/person. On the way, I got to see parts of Philly I've never seen before, ditto for my spouse who's originally from the area. After arriving we needed to get to the opposite side of the tracks in which we used an underpass walkway that was close by, which thankfully was clean an uninhabited. OVERALL: I love no-crowds!

The parking situation is chaos, there are double parked cars pretty frequently and everyone is parking in every spot possible. There are quite a few "unmarked" parking spaces that people like to create. It's a bit confusing to drive to the other side of the station, but there is an underground stair well to get ot the other side. As for the little building itself, the heat is not always working, sometimes they forget to unlock the door, and sometimes homeless people like to spend the night. There is no ticket office at this station, but there's one of the new electronic kiosks (that I haven't used yet). Another downside is that not all Express trains during the rush hours stop at Penllyn. This station and Gwynedd Valley are the last two stations in Zone 3. Beyond this point, you're paying Zone 4 fare prices.

Cons: No climate control in room. It was hot out and the air conditioning cut off for long periods throughout the night. It was really hard to operate the shower. A grab bar in shower would be appreciated. Any items put on sink counter became wet from water collecting there every time the sink was used. No towel rack or hook in reach of the sink. No hook by tub for easy access to towel. Toilet Paper and tissues supplied were thin and not soft. Fair: Breakfast just okay. Button for hot water required numerous pushes to fill cup.

Also with open side streets close by you can park for free if you are spending the night in the city and don't want your car towed or want to save a dollar for parking. Ticketing window only stays open until about 11:30 in the afternoon so be prepared to pay on the train if you arrive later then that.
