Nice visit at the garden [Eureka CA] Just outside the zoo's northern perimeter is the Sequoia Park Garden on W Street. Street parking is available just outside of the entrance. The forecast was partly cloudy in the mid 50's. The garden isn't very big but I enjoyed the variety of flowers that were in bloom which is generally between May and September. Our visit was during the Memorial Day weekend. Took some time taking lots of photos of the colorful blooms including a collection of gorgeous dahlias... wish they had labels for all the flowers for us who are botanically illiterate. Flowers are beautiful subjects for photography that's why I love botanical gardens. The garden also featured a wishing well and a gazebo for small gatherings and events and, also, a small sundial, unfortunately, there was no sun at that time to tell the time of day ツ Sadly, we weren't able to go across to the park. This a great park in the city. I arrived in the early morning and entered through the Sequoia Creek Trailhead. A good walk that leads you to the park and garden. I liked the open grassy meadow and the duck pond. There was a sitting area to rest and take a break, and a playground. The tall trees and serene surroundings makes this place magical. Definitely wants me to return and explore more. read more

We came early to enjoy a morning walk in the cool weather. I want to start by saying that I was glad I had my husband and dog with me because as soon as we entered the "redwoods" a man stepped out from behind a tree and startled me. I gasped and he apologized but he was clearly packing up his bed and tent from the night before. I also saw another gentleman still sleeping in a sleeping bag just off the trail. I only mention it because I might not have felt safe had I been alone. The park and garden are lovely and once you get a litter deeper inside and the noise from the street goes away, you could almost forget you're in the middle of the city. The trees are beautiful and although there was definitely some incline on the trail, it was nothing too difficult. Lots of other people were walking dogs here as well. We really enjoyed sitting by the duck pond for a while relaxing. This is a great place for kids too as we came across a playground as well. You could easily wander here for hours and never get bored. It is a great free way to spend some time. read more

We rented the gazebo in the Flower Garden for a birthday party. At first I was a little uneasy because there's so much space throughout the park that would make for a phenomenal gathering space. But, in hindsight, the garden was a perfect place for a dozen folks looking for a beautiful quiet space to enjoy each other's company. The entire park is gorgeous, full of towering redwoods, a vast playscape, and a large group gazebo on the other side of the park. The staff is really nice and helpful and people throughout the park are respectful of other patrons. The entire community services division (parks & rec) was so courteous when we had questions or needed assistance. The garden is still open to others, but people respect the fact that you are having a gathering. There was even a cute middle aged coupled who wanted to renew their vows using the gazebo, and quietly waited until we were done before renewing their vows. And they were happy to allow us to witness their rededication. read more

Quality/Quantity - Sequoia park is 60 acres. Walking and biking trails. Playgrounds, ponds, etc. The garden has a wishing well, wish me luck; pun intended. Atmosphere - Small garden, but huge park. Not sure if the park is part of the garden...? If the park is part of the garden, it is huge. Either way, it was all the same to me. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm. Free limited street parking; there were plenty today. A few public bathrooms in the park, see pictures. Easy trails. Well, we stayed on the paved trails as I wore the wrong shoes... I actually had my hiking boots in the car, but was too lazy to change... Beautiful picnic areas, etc. Service - Friendly, welcoming employee watering the plants. Price - Free, thank you. My review is for the Sequoia Park Garden, and not for the other areas of this park. Ryan and I visited this park last month when we were searching for a pretty outdoor place near the Eureka Sea Grill to eat our take-out dinners. This garden was unexpectedly lovely. Pink and Yellow Lilies flourish abundantly along some of this garden's pathways. There is a cute gazebo, 4 long sturdy benches which were clean and fairly comfortable to sit on, and plentiful greenery. We visited this garden shortly before sunset, and the sun's rays slanting through the trees on to the flowers and leaves was a peaceful sight to behold. It wasn't at all crowded when we visited. There were only 2 other people in the garden at the time. I'm very happy that we visited this park. This was one of those lovely unexpected finds that travel can sometimes surprise us with. Highly recommended for a peaceful afternoon or early evening. read more

Very appreciative of the tree house and playground structures here! Parking is fairly easy with street parking or the parking lot. An open field is here if you want to do light sports such as frisbee or soccer. You will enjoy the open space and trees, and kids will definitely enjoy the tree house with a built-in slide. My only concern is sometimes questionable people walked through, so practice vigilance! read more

Although I wasn't able to see the Zoo the park has to offer as a result of COVID-19 Restrictions I still could not leave this town without checking out what this park was about. As a tourist I was very pleased with the park. When you arrive and park there is no cost. For some that's a plus although I don't mind paying a parking fee to support our parks. Once you park you see a playground structure and if you walk right past it you can go into the area where all the big trees are located and you almost feel as if you are deep into a beautiful hiking adventure through a forest. If you are debating visiting this location please do. Not only is it free but it is beautiful and open. While I was there I found families walking around, and children enjoying nature. This park is absolutely a pet and stroller friendly location because of how spread out the space is to walk. My friends and I had a wonderful time walking through this park. During my time there I wore wedges as this was an unexpected stop for us and I was still able to get through the walk with no problem. read more

We, and especially the kids, were delighted with this park. Great accessibility features, but wood chips were under the swings. We loved going back and forth between the multiple play areas. There was something for every age group, and the littles LOVED the play structure built between the toys. I appreciated the walking paths, which were quiet and an incredible way to experience the trees. We weren't prepared for such a lovely park, with clean restrooms and running water. This is absolutely worth a stop, especially if you went to the zoo, it's just a quick walk down the block. read more

Very cool park some picnic tables and lots of trails & massive trees. From the zoo we could've gone on a skywalk above the trees. Thanksgiving is coming dear Yelpers and this is one place I am truly thankful for having like walking distance from my home! This Park was one of the highlights before my hubby and I decided to move to Eureka. Once you enter this Park, you can immediately smell the freshness in the air; talk about air quality at its finest! I always tell my hubby how great air quality is such a treat. What I LOVE: - The walking trail is pretty much clear of rubbish. - It feels wonderful to just be surrounded by the huge redwood trees. I can just gaze at them and I start to feel better spiritually. - A stroll through this wonderful park is not a long and excruciating one. NOTE: They are building a walkway near the top of the trees like a bridge from tree to tree. There's nothing bad I can say about this Park so get out here and enjoy some fresh air and be one with nature! read more

One complaint: it needs more benches. This is not the Santa Ana park. For people visiting from the OC. It has 5 separate kid's playgrounds, half a dozen bbp/metal stands (for parties/picnic). It has a good 1 mile walking loop through redwood trees, and suspension bridges between the trees. The forest can easily be mistaken for middle earth (with a little imagination). The seller here are the redwood trees. Their size are Jurassic. I'm not keen on zoos, it has a small zoo too. My 4 year old loves it. They have a barn yard petting zoo. I'm fond of birds of prey. They have two great eagles and an owl. The park is quiet, always parking available. read more

Beautiful flower garden next to the Sequoia Park Zoo. The garden has flowers in full bloom and is a perfect spot for pictures. On the other side of the zoo is a park with swings, a play structure, room for community events and some trails to explore the redwoods. REAR EXIT: NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. Grandma wanted to take the kids to see the ducks at the pond, but roads were closed and not a flat trail for a walker (although that didn't stop her from trying to go anyway!), but GORGEOUS VIEWS on the trail! read more
