Pretty much everything that could go wrong was going wrong - increasing costs, a surprise demand 1 week before close that I rent my current home out with a lease & a paid deposit, and denial of part of my income a few days before close. It felt like it was falling apart - it was messy on the lender's part, and stressful for me. I didn't want to continue - I negotiated an extension with seller, and then switched over to SFFCU. What a night & day difference! The team listened carefully to the situation, was clear up front with all requirements & potential underwriting risks, and we discussed how we could mitigate. What was great was they were able to talk to underwriter and get high level alignment up front to reduce uncertainty. Once I switched over, they swiftly got to work. Early on, they proactively called me and told me when rates were decreasing, and when rates were going to increase and I should lock in. I also had access to 3 different people on the team (Tim, Jazmin, and Tina) who all played a part, and depending on what was needed, I could easily get a hold of any of them with a quick call. Robert was the only person who was able to find us a loan and not only that, got it for about 1% less than we were expecting with putting down 30%. Because of this, when I moved I went immediately to Carlyle. So you have to go into the bank - it's 2022, who goes into the bank to perform a basic transaction? It's such a timesuck. They're nice enough in the bank, but the whole thing is ridiculous. If the website would just work, and someone would answer the phone when you call (or return messages), it'd be so much easier. I just want to share my journey to getting online access to *my money*. - tried online; said I needed to reset my password, but no link arrived - called the branch; given another phone number; no answer at that number; left a message; no return call - went into a branch; told my online account no longer active, but that I could open a new one online - tried to open a new online account; system says that an account with that email already exists; when I try to get the password, I get an error message - I call the branch again; given another phone number - I call that phone number; the person asks me for a bunch of information, then gives me my login and a temporary password (totally contradicting the information from the guy at the branch yesterday, but ok)

They blamed USPS and pushed their "Auto Pay" online system. Decembers payment took 24 days for FREMONT BANK to process. Again, they blamed USPS. We actually called and made a phone payment mid month, paid to place a stop payment on the off chance the payment was actually lost. February 5th, yesterday, we received a nasty letter from Fremont Bank admonishing us for not being honorable credit risks. Once again they blamed USPS...their letter arrived at our address in FIVE days. We are paying of this loan off next month to protect our credit. Borrowers beware. This institution does not care about it's customers.
