I first started going here to get my hair done a couple of years ago and I am so glad I found the place - you get wonderful service and don't pay through the nose for it. I get my highlights done here and the most you will pay for 3 foil colours is just over £50 and this includes a cut and blow dry. If you just want a cut and blow dry the most you will pay will be £20. The salon has a fresh and modern look and offers perms and tinting too. The staff make a real effort to get to know their customers and listen to what you want rather than just going ahead and suiting themselves. It is also a very down to earth place, which I far prefer to some of the places in town which seem to be superior and cold. If you fancy a new look or are new to town and want a new hairdressers, I highly recommend Vallance Hair.

I expect bespoke advice on what goes best with the shape of my face, the colour of my skin, the season and all those things I don't have a clue about. In particular, when the hair salon charges fees like Mosko does!! Both times I went there, I had to drive the process. They ask me what cut and colour I think looks good on me, and that's what I end up with. It almost makes me wonder whether I missed my calling and should have been a hair stylist. Obviously the Mosko senior stylists do, as they need to ask me for ideas, instead of bringing in their own ideas based on their supposed expert knowledge. Both times I left the salon feeling a bit deflated. Yes, the cut was nice and the colour looked good. The glass of wine offered was a nice touch. But at the end of the day I was after a new look inspired by an enthusiastic stylist who wasn't afraid to give her/his opinion about would suit me best. And that's not what I got. A little footnote: at my second visit the guy doing my head massage kept gravitating towards my breasts instead of my head (anything but relaxing). And if that wasn't bad enough, he also managed to twist a few nerves in my neck, resulting in me not being able to turn my neck and shoulders for three days after!

My experiences of Mosko are really uneven…read more The first time I went, my stylist spent ages going over what I liked, what would suit me, the ways that I style my hair at home etc and I got an amazing cut and colour. At my next appointment, my stylist was running late on a previous client, and she then proceeded to spend a further 45 minutes in the back room eating her lunch while I was kept waiting without even an offer of a cup of tea. I'm not annoyed that she had to take her break, but 45 minutes, which included time to bitch with the receptionist was a bit much. Had she phoned me to let me know she was running late, or even offered a cuppa as previous hairdressers have done, I wouldn't be complaining. Cut wasn't great that day, and she seemed to rush doing my highlights so she wouldn't be running late for her next client. Certainly didn't feel a valued customer. I went back anyway, and had a rotten time again. This time, she left my blonde foils in for AGES. It was at least 25 minutes after the heat developer alarm had gone off before she came and saw to me. Some of my highlights were virtually white! She thought it was edgy. I thought my fine hair would probably break off. I gave it one last go, and we were back to an amazingly attentative service, and she even styled my hair all fancy when I mentioned it was my birthday the following day. I changed to a different salon after that, because I couldn't be bothered with the ups and downs of being their client! Now, I give hairdressers two chances, and if they blow it twice, I find somewhere better.

I've had the leg waxes with the rogue strip of hair left down the side/back of the leg, the Polish salon who wanted to wax my legs with the same immac wax strips I had at home for emergencies (salon cost £12, home cost £4.49 for the pack which gives me 2/3 leg waxes), the overly-expensive eyebrow threading which didn't look as if my eyebrows had been touched, and a beautician who ripped off half my eye brows and didn't fess up so I had to go to an uber important meeting with crayoned eyebrows :-( However, last minute emergency waxes don't work when your beautician is 60 miles away so I was still hoping that I could find somewhere which would get it right. Been to Beauty 2000 a couple of times now and will return. Always managed to get a same day appointment and I will keep going back as my waxing to date has been flawless. Prices are reasonable too - I think about £14 for a half leg which is cheaper then town prices (£18-£20 in some places) and also a 15% discount is available for students (show your matric card).

I went to the wax bar straight afterwards because I wanted to cry at my nails. They gave me an appointment for the sat morning although I think they got me in after I showed them my nails. They were a joke. I felt sorry for them also as it's not nice having to put some one else's work right. They had no problems with this and just wanted to put them right for me. Sat morning and the service, the treatment was first class here in the wax bar. The girls were lovely and I think they were all pleased including me with the end result. They are now beautiful for a exciting and beautiful day on Monday. I could not be more thrilled with my nails. And this time I have shellac on my nails instead of nail Polish and a clear top coat that just came off with nail Polish. I am so so pleased I choose the wax bar and have to say they have gained a happy customer and I most certainly will go back. I also happened to pick up a price list of all the procedures they do so will definitely be taking some of these treatments up also. Needless to say I am walking on air now with my nails. The girls there made me feel welcome and relaxed and didnt treat me any different to a female cust. I would highly recommend this salon for men and woman.
