Talk about some basic food. Bland flavor and cheap meat. Order a jumbo margarita which tasted like sugar flavored one juice. I asked for a grand marnier floater and they had no idea what I was taking about.

Does it look like a margarita?

First, wait staff didn't know what a margarita was. It's a Mexican restaurant. Worse, the bartender didn't either and apparently made up something that tasted like flat seven-up with Long Island ice tea. Undrinkable. Switched to bottled beer. Food was okay. Soupy beans. Burrito "Supreme" was not. It was about the size of most enchiladas. It had lettuce tomato and sour cream and lots of cheese. But it was small. Tasted okay, but I'd hit McDonald's before I stopped here again. Lastly, the little things. There was no water offered. No questions asked about the margarita sitting untouched. Just not what I expect.

This spot was good! We came to visit the college and wanted to support small businesses. Great prices and great food!

Good food for having to do takeout due to COVID. Enchiladas were delicious! They also let me get a margarita to go!!

The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the cheese sauce, but that is easy enough to avoid with their big menu of fresh food options.

She took care of the entire store and restaurant all by herself. The restaurant is very tiny, but the food is delish. The restaurant was empty when I arrived at 1pm. She put on the Mexican music when I arrive. Service is fast. The owner explained the menu and provided good recommendations. I tried 4 tacos of different meat: birria, lengua, steak and carnitas. All are served with onions and lime. I love birria and lengua the most, followed by carnitas. I picked an authentic Mexican soda from their fridge. I love all the drink options available.

However in the back there's a dining area. They make tacos and tortas. After looking around a bit we found where to order at. It's got a window in the back. There's a small menu of a few authentic Mexican items and the choices of protein. Mostly it's tacos of course. These are pretty easy to make. It's $4 each. Protein choices include beef, chicken, or get beans and vegetables. Got us a couple of tacos with the beans. These were topped with cilantro and onions. Small but full of flavor. The store has drinks such as Jarritos, and you can get big ass cans of beans so you can make tacos for later. Good place to get authentic Mexican food. It's located on West Jackson Street at Illinois Avenue in a building that looks unassuming from outside. There's taqueria is located in the back, and you order at the window.

It hardly is that authentic, but it's not trying to be though. Honestly it's better than it looks. The prices are kind of expensive unfortunately. Basically this is classic Mexican American food. It's got a few locations, including this one. This has the feel of a big chain to it, though. Anyway, the drinks and food are okay if not expecting much. The high prices make it hard to be satisfied. It's about $12 for a margarita. The Blue Lagoon is made with Blue Curaçao and it got us lit for sure. Food is even more expensive. It's about $15 for the Taco Salad Veggie. This comes in a crispy tortilla bowl, and is filled with broccoli, cheese dip and sour cream which I left off, guacamole, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and zucchini. Good stuff but certainly not worth the charge. The rest of the menu has typical Americanized stuff like fajitas and tacos. For sure it's not bad food. It's located on Giant City Road by University Mall. There's some things okay for vegetarians.
