She is a whirlwind and an inspiration while at the same time makes great food and conversation. I was able to slip in on short notice and look back fondly. I took many photos and videos to memorialize my brief stay there. I was aware ahead of time of the fantastic reputation and it lived up to that and more. Even the check out guy at REI told me two months ahead of time, "you have to stay at Casa Fernanda". He was right.

We chose this place for our trip to Braga because we wanted something with character, close enough to the center yet tucked away, and Casanova Farmhouse delivered that and more. It truly felt like staying with a local family, like reconnecting with an old friend. Meeting Ana, one of the owners, was a highlight. She takes hospitality to another level. One night we accidentally went out without the remote for the parking gate and had to message her late at night. She responded right away and was ready to help. She regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, even sharing local recommendations, including a fab running trail along the river. The "hotel" itself is lovely, think boutique, with thoughtful touches throughout that genuinely reflect the place's history rather than feeling gimmicky. The pool was a favorite spot. I loved sitting outside with my feet in the water, reading a book. The rooms and details, including toiletries, coffee, and towels, were thoughtfully chosen. The bed was comfortable, the sheets felt luxurious, and the room was spacious. The views of fields and mountains were soothing, as was the sound of local birds singing each morning. We also appreciated the parking setup. We had our own remote for the garage and could come and go easily. Ubers into Braga were €3 to €5 and always available. The garden surrounding the house of the hosts is wonderful and very well maintained. I did suffer from the cold the first night, but that was OK after. I didn't come by car (automatic car rental is more expensive than taking a taxi) which had its challenges: I had to go down 500 m on a steep hill to be told on the first day that the bread hadn't arrived yet. I did take the taxi to get in and out of Paredes de Coura, although one could also walk it: about 2.5 km.

Sonia and Joao are very welcoming and caring. - The breakfast: never had such an excellent breakfast ! Fresh fruit juice made from fruits of the garden, very good bread, eggs from the garden's chicken, bakeries from Sonia, etc. Never tasted a "real" passion fruit juice until now ;-) - The house: nicely decorated, a kitchen at your full disposal, a big bath for the room with a private bathroom, mosquito nets at all windows, nice lounge with a Nintendo Wii, etc. - The exterior: beautiful garden, little swimming pool to refresh yourself, a hammac, a little terrase, etc. - The situation: very peaceful, a bit excentred from Braga (5 minutes by car), ideal to get some rest ! - The social interactions: it was a pleasure to meet other travellers and discuss with them.
