There was also a bidet, which was nice (I stayed in 4 hotels in Portugal and this was the only place with one) On the downside, there's dim lighting in the room & common areas (though there was a bright table lamp in the room which helped). The room's insulation wasn't great but cranking the heating way up meant it was ok (RIP hotel power bills, but from the guest's perspective that isn't a downside). WiFi was also somewhat inconsistent.

It truly felt like staying with a local family, like reconnecting with an old friend. Meeting Ana, one of the owners, was a highlight. She takes hospitality to another level. One night we accidentally went out without the remote for the parking gate and had to message her late at night. She responded right away and was ready to help. She regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, even sharing local recommendations, including a fab running trail along the river. The "hotel" itself is lovely, think boutique, with thoughtful touches throughout that genuinely reflect the place's history rather than feeling gimmicky. The pool was a favorite spot. I loved sitting outside with my feet in the water, reading a book. The rooms and details, including toiletries, coffee, and towels, were thoughtfully chosen. The bed was comfortable, the sheets felt luxurious, and the room was spacious. The views of fields and mountains were soothing, as was the sound of local birds singing each morning. We also appreciated the parking setup. We had our own remote for the garage and could come and go easily. Ubers into Braga were €3 to €5 and always available. There was a frig in the room and shutters on windows. Breakfast included. Nice fruit market next door and an atm as well. Small drawbacks were neighbors noise, bathroom door didn't close and bathtub drain was slow but there were signs they are improving things as they were painting. If we asked for anything the guru got it right away. Heartily recommend this one.

My hotel safe would not unlock and maintenance could hardly get it to open with their passcode either. Next night the toilet would not flush. When I needed to tell the hotel that the toilet would not flush is when I discovered the phones were not connected. When I went downstairs to tell the front desk that the toilet was not flushing, and the phones were not working there was a backup of seven people in line and one for receptionist working. They were severely understaffed, and there are too many maintenance issues with this hotel. Also, there's a sliding door that covers the bathroom and toilet and then it slides over and is the shower door. Very weird. The breakfast is massive and could provide anything anyone was interested in so that was A+. The food from the menus was excellent. The hotel is also very isolated away from everything other than walking across the street to a McDonald's. All in all we ended up not choosing this one of our guest hotels.
